Hello: Khalid Hill
February 6th, 2012 at 4:13 PM ^
Woooo! Now we only have to wait another day or two and we'll have another TE. That's how it works still right? Hello: Breneman?!

With that avatar I want to see a comment from you in every Hello post.

I usually comment in them, so I'll try and keep it up, sir.

Despite being Division 4, Crockett won the Detroit PSL title this year. When we were preparing for the playoffs, we kept a keen on on which region we would end up. We did NOT want to go against Crockett. Remarkably, they did not make it to the finals, losing to the team that beat us the previous week.
Welcome to Michigan Khalid.

named that?
February 6th, 2012 at 4:18 PM ^
Hoke missed out on Grant and said F this! Getting to work early, two Michigan commits so far. Only one for Sparty.
February 6th, 2012 at 4:29 PM ^
We have three commits so far for 2013.
February 6th, 2012 at 4:41 PM ^
Try three: Shane Morris, Dymonte Thomas and now Khalid Hill.
February 6th, 2012 at 4:19 PM ^
Allen T highlighted him in an emerging juniors piece, apparently he did well at a few camps and was the best tight end at Maximum Exposure. With this amount of respect already I think you can assume he will be a 4* prospect.
February 6th, 2012 at 4:24 PM ^
I know ESPN may be dumb, and fake 40s are fake, but that's not a great sign if he's a TE at that size.
I have to think he's a DE or he's gotten a lot faster (or bigger).
February 6th, 2012 at 4:30 PM ^
5.11 is pretty slow (if true). How does his speed look on film?
February 6th, 2012 at 4:26 PM ^
Mr. Hill. Make the best of it. You are amoung an elite family now. Again, wewlcome.
February 6th, 2012 at 4:30 PM ^
Perhaps there is some chemistry the coaches observed between Kahlid and Shane from the Adidas Maximum Exposure camp they attended.
"Other notable prospects in attendance were junior tight ends Peter Cender (Howell, MI), who is considering both Michigan State and Syracuse, and Khalid Hill (Detroit, MI) along with cornerback Khalil Hill (Detroit, MI)."
February 6th, 2012 at 4:30 PM ^
Look at his video. He's clearly faster than a 5.11.

Michigan is really starting to dominate Detroit.
This coaching staff has picked up 3 guys from Cass Tech, 1 from King and now one from Detroit PSL Champion Crockett.
FYI, Crockett was the only other team to beat Cass Tech (state champions) this season other than Funchess & Ojemudia of Farmington Hills Harrison.
Gonna be a very interesting season this fall since Michigan is the favorite for DB/WR J.D. Lewis on Cass Tech. They most likely will play Crockett so I look forward to seeing him against Hill.
Also another player to keep an eye out for is 6'2/290 defensive tackle Kenton Gibbs of Cass Tech as well.

apparently scouts are raving about him having quick feet

I don't understand why people make "hello" threads on the MGoBoard, as they will always be posted on the site by one of the moderators.
February 6th, 2012 at 4:52 PM ^
Because guys are eager to be the one that broke the news?
February 6th, 2012 at 4:57 PM ^
..."Hi" post. Quick announcement to get the conversation started. The action moves to the front page when the full scale "Hello" post is made. Also, not sure why you want to rain on people's parade.
February 6th, 2012 at 10:00 PM ^
Maybe because this is Brian's (and others') blog and not random people who read it...
Everyone knows that the "hello" post will be made by a moderator, so I just don't see the point in posting it on the board also. Whatever though.
February 6th, 2012 at 4:57 PM ^
I think they both serve a useful purpose. The board "hello" post is instantaneous news. The main page "hello" post is shortly-after-the-fact news with substantive commentary and analysis. I don't mind knowing the news right away. And the "hello" is something I will admit I scan for on the board post titles.

You just wonder how he was able to decide so fast when other commits kill themselves for the next year. Now he can focus on working out and doing well his senior year.
February 6th, 2012 at 5:09 PM ^
I trust what Hoke is doing, he seems like the perfect size for an H-back, thought he does seem to be a little small for a TE. I am kind of wondering with our lack of depth at TE if we might see more of Hopkins in that role and use a lot less of a TE.

4.0 and engineering???

February 6th, 2012 at 5:22 PM ^
I would honestly rather have a guy with potential (and versatility, in his case) who commits the second he gets an offer because he loves Michigan than a blue chip recruit who needed a long sales pitch to come here.
February 6th, 2012 at 5:23 PM ^
A blue chip who loves Michigan is even better.
February 6th, 2012 at 6:09 PM ^
I like the practice of offering guys guys from Detroit. We missed out on some great prospects in Gholston and Thomas in previous years we can't keep doing that.
February 6th, 2012 at 6:22 PM ^
Good hands and a feel for the ball. He can bring it too. Some nice tackles in his highlights reel.
Congratulations Khalid and welcome aboard!
Go Blue!

Anyone know where to pick up the Detroit Football t shirt he is wearing on the "Hello" post? I would buy one instantly.
February 7th, 2012 at 12:37 AM ^
If I understand correctly from the hello post that 5.11 forty is from february of lat year when he was a sophomore. He's had time to already increase his speed and also has time till he gets on campus. This seems like a great pick up.
February 7th, 2012 at 12:58 AM ^
Great pickup. They are saying that he will probably be used as an Hback type. We dont really have this type of player on our roster yet. Can lead block, catch passes in the flats, or just line up as a second tight end.
