HELLO: Gareon Conley

Submitted by Mr. Yost on

Other sites are reporting that 6'2 CB from Massillon, OH - Gareon Conley has indeed committed to Michigan.

One site uses his twitter as the source. Another says he was waiting until today to make it public. And a third said it's official and announced.

Obviously a big pickup. Michigan needs a bigger CB, and if he continues to grow (and can tackle), he may grow into a FS. This puts Dymonte Thomas at SS, Jourdan Lewis remains at CB and maybe we still have a shot for a Kendall Fuller. If we get say a Su'a Cravens, then he'd likely remain at CB.

Right now, either way, it's a big time pickup! Whether it was truly official last night, right now or this afternoon. WELCOME!!! Go Blue!

Note: I'll change the title when I see it more publicized or when a MOD says it's okay.

[ED:BISB - Changed title. Feel free to change back if/when things are confirmed]

It seems if you are willing to put the guy's name in the post, it'd be alright to put the name in the thread title.

I'm not sure if I should be excited or not.

It's happening...I just didn't want it plastered on the front page if the kid was waiting until noon or something.

He's definitely verballed and the coaches know.

I just figured if it's not on the front page of MGoBlog, Scout and Rivals yet...they may be respecting something that I don't know about. So I'm not going to put it on the front page either.

However, he's BLUE!

Get excited!

With an extraordianry  talent like Cravens you take him for wherever he wants to play and see what happens when he gets on campus.

Meanwhile Conley is strictly a corner and Dymonte could play either safety spot - which is what Mattison wants from all of his safeties eventually.

But the fact still remains, IMO, if Michigan landed both Thomas and Cravens, Cravens is more of a SS than Thomas.  Cravens one weakness is that he isn't really someone you want to put in the deep third.  He is a lot like Taylor Mays in that regard, great hitter, great athletisism coming down into the box, but may struggle a bit in the deep third.

He may get a chance at RB if we land him, but he would be a safety first and foremost.

To clarify the running back situation, Su'a said that Michigan offered him as a safety and that the opportunity for him to play running back is there. My guess is that it wouldn't be in a primary role and that he'd be a potential two-way player used in certain situations.

possibly more. Couple that with two BTT wins over Ohio and Sparty and another W over ND would make for an excellent continuation on the "greatest weekend" trend, wouldn't it?

I don't understand why everyone thinks we're getting another commit this weekend on top Conley? If your think Issac then I have a feeling your going to be sorely disappointed. He's visiting USC next week and he said he won't commit anytime soon to multiple sources. On to cravens, he's really not a pipe dream. He really does have above average interest in Michigan for a west coast kid. The hardest thing to do is actually getting him to leave the west coast. Running back was thrown around because the coaches want him as an athlete but his primary role would be wlb/ss like someone already mentioned.
