Congrats to Core 6 Athletes Class of 2016 OL Erik Swenson from Downers Grove South who committed to #Michigan last night.— #COMPETE (@core6athletes) November 25, 2013
Hello: Erik Swenson
Looks like he hates donkeys as well.
Finally some good news. Welcome to the team Erik.
Why am I suddenly in the mood for pancakes?
Good to add a high caliber recuit at a position of need to the family..Good Luck Mr Swenson and work hard.
If there was ever a time we needed some good news, now is the time. Congrats Erik!
had the timetable down
Is this the guy we were told to buckle up for??
That's great news. Young tackle prospect with a ton of potential.
It looks like he's a kid who could figure into the 5 Star discussion (at least early on)...
Do they still come in pairs? It's been so long since we had good news I don't remember anything.
All of your Scandinavian offensive linemen belong to us!
Who knows what things will be like by then.
Well, good news indeed trickles in from time to time. Glad to hear it as well.
Welcome to Michigan, Erik Swenson.
Yes!!! Wecome Erik! Can't wait to see you in a winged helmet.
On a side note we need more vikings on o line, currently Magnus and Sven :).
big pickup i think he is a possible 5*
Swenson was the commit watch from last night. Pretty good start to the 2016 class. Could be the top OL in the midwest.
Congratulations on a wonderful decision
Where is the guy that was giving Coach Brown shit last night? I bet he avoids this thread
His Dudeness talks s*** about everyone.
Welcome to the Michigan family!
I'd say nobody who goes to Michigan throws away their future.
Other guy is not a Michigan man!
I guess your diploma is worthless and you threw your whole life away.
Turn back in your Alum card. As an alum I find your comments repulsive.
Dude, go away. Not developing talent, please. The seniors and juniors just haven't been very good and you can't put that stamp on the coaching staff. You can only do so much with guys that were meant for a system that's a 180 from what we currently are trying to run. The sophomore and freshmen classes have really shown a glimmer of hope in this dark time. Stop being that prick.
You want to encourage kids to come here (not in creepy twitter stalker way but saying welcome on a message board and what not).
Even if the not developing meme is true and the coaches do end up getting the boot someday, I sure as hell don't want another cupboard empty situation for the next guy. USC is a great example. Kiffin couldn't coach a lick but he recruited his ass off. The next guy that walks in there has everything he needs. So if your opinion is true about the coaching, then you better be rooting for them to recruit like crazy because I don't want to do the cupboard empty bs again.this was all kind of discussed in the visitor thread and the don't boo your team thread. Just because your pissed at the coaches doesn't mean you need to ruin a kids experience or piss on someone's big moment.
Attending community college in Michigan does not make one a Michigan graduate, FYI...
yet you say you'd tell your own son to go to school elsewhere.
Worst dad of the year award. This is his dream friggin school!! It produces hordes of nfl talent. It is a legendary program. And now you (with no apparent son on scholarship) are offering this safe advice as a loyal u of m? What is wrong with you? Should he go to Iowa bc they beat us? Or should he go to Texas a&am bc it is super awesome and has a heisman winner there? Or maybe all of your progeny should only go to Alabama, where every player is guaranteed an NFL career despite wanting to go the true school of there dreams. Please take a break. We get it, you want Borges and funk fired. So do some of the rest of us. But my god, this is a huge get for us...we still got it and have a chance at retaining kids like this. If we so, we will always be in the conversation. You talk like we are a Mac school.
Which medical school?
It's a near certainty several of the other fr and soph lineman will play in the nfl too. Why would you say something so inaccurate and stupid on a Michigan board? This is a five star recruit basically coming in two years. It's a pretty awesome leap of faith in out brand and a vote of confidence for what we are doing , despite the growing pains. The same guys you think blow this year and are throwing under the bus are going to be upper class men when this dude comes in. We might actually be good with a qb, veteran rb, line and WrS that fit the system. We might even have a new offensive coordinator, line coach and qb coach. Just don't get your point of posting this. Feel like guys like you are a bunch of puppy punchers. Some of you need to choke back your cynicism and just come back next year. It's okay we still family, just leave the table for a bit and come back when your calm down and rationale.
But he is first round and wait for the draft. I just don't get the sit in a circle and shoot eachother routine?
just joined today. That you're here posing as a Michigan fan speaks volumes about how you view your own team.
Welcome to the Michigan family! Go Blue!
Just can't stop looking.
Me either. And I'm not happy with myself.
In so many ways. But it is funny as hell.
Miley Miley will make you smiley smiley.
that a plastic surgeon can help with that.
Here are my thoughts on Swenson:
Thanks! Excellent and helpful, as usual!
Some good news huh?
Welcome to the Maize and Blue, Mr. Swenson. Now let's Beat Ohio
I saw this kid when my son was at Michigan's summer camp for middle schoolers in 2011. My son and I shit ourselves when we saw the size of him. Erik was going into 8th grade and he was already 6'3" or 6'4"' and 250lbs. He was the biggest 8 th grader I've ever seen. Just enormous. Then we saw his dad. Big Swen Swenson. He goes about 6'8" 350lbs and the biggest head I've ever seen.
This kid certainly has the size to be a dominant lineman. He's only a sophomore. Sky's the limit for him.
Just won't go away no matter what the post he will be there to diminish anything positive into his same old bit "kids can't execute" blah blah blah. C'mon Brian -25 and these trolls need to be Bolivia'd.
Thanx Eric for ignoring these pathetic Spartans and Buck trolls who just can't help themselves and come here and see what real recruiting looks like, and what they might try to stop it. Won't be long now guys and UM will be the talk of the NCAA for positive news.
+1. Can't imagine why negative comments and discouragement of a recruit would result in anything but a ban. Brian?
That everyone has been hinting at?
I'm told isaac Nauta(Class of '16) will join him at some point in the class. It's not a matter of if, but when.
I hope this was just a bad joke, but either way please stop cheering for Michigan. We don't want you.
Please go back to East Lansing and find people who will find this clever or insightful. We don't need trolls.
State has lived in it for 50 years
Awesome post. Thanks.
Some of you guys are fucking unbearable.
Samsonite!! I was way off!
Mr Swenson to invest in the finest knee braces (the hinge things that all OL wear) right NOW!! We want a perfect specimen when he arrives on campus.
My next wish is he goes out for shot put or hammer throw. Something to build training on intense physical explosion which I think transfers over to firing off the ball.
Im suitably impressed. Physical specimens continue to roll in. I hope he makes Jake and Taylor proud.
When the OL is finally tilted over to upperclassmen, and we can place the underclassmen in the Program for a couple of years before they have to hold their own on the field its going to be a nice ride.
As I've posted before, my dream is to see a fresh set of OL and a fresh RB start the 4th quarter against a sagging front 7 on the defense who have already been beaten up for 3 quarters of pounding. Say Night Night Gracie...
Where are the mods? So pumped about this commitment but these trolls are out of control.
But I often sleep. Day care drop-off, then I will wield the hammer of Thor. I promise.
Time the Spartans were even at the Rose Bowl, Yeah its a bowl you become eligable for if you win the B1G.
Rose Bowl is if they play USC during the regular season.
Wouldn't it be UCLA?
Hope he tears up the B1G and enjoys AA. Go Blue.
If you have gotten this far in the thread and find some of the comments out of place, it is because they were replies to comments / posters that have since been removed from the site. I tried to paste the thread back together, and I may come back to this as time permits today.
and I hope you are not done driving out the Trolls!!
Thanks, LSA2000. Amazing how quickly the thread devolved. I admit I didn't add much class to the conversation, but I'd had enough last night with the negativity and felt like I needed to say something. I hope it was seen for what it was--an attempt to fight for the good and positive.
I got up this morning curious to find out what happened to the guy who alleged that he was a UM grad and medical student who said he'd tell his own son to go elsewhere and that Swenson was wasting his future.
What a surprise that he's now in La Paz. Which is probably where he's going to "medical school."
I hear it's the "Harvard of Bolivia".
Wow, Michigan is trying to become Stanford and Alabama, Jim had a couple losing seasons at Stanford before they became good. Nick Saban had a losing season and lost to a sunbelt team before they became good.
Yes I know Saban turned it around after just 1 year but he also over signs every year, Jim played by the rules at Stanford and it took a couple extra years.
Just wait till these Freshman oline man are a little older, faster, and stronger.
It takes time to build depth, and you should never be in the position to play multiple freshman on a oline.
I have faith in the next couple years Michigan will look totally different in a good way.
Saban was 7-6 on the field in 2007. Not a losing season but definitely not 12-0 regular season in year 2 or national champs in year 3.
