I think the first statement is pretty clear - he is adamant that Drake be on scholarship ("better not be no" = double negative = positive.  However, his second statement that it would be a big waste doesn't seem to jive with his first.  I had to consult with my first grade English teacher on this one and, in her professional opinion (her opinion, not mine), the poster may have missed a lot of elementary English classes during his formative years.  I'm not opining on the issue, I'm just reporting what I heard after consuling a professional.

Disgruntled former moderator.  I got a lot of problems with you people!

He is 133 yards away from the state rushing record.  He has had a great senior year for Pioneer.

I'm guessing the ship has now sailed on Bri'onte Dunn.

I don't think Michigan is done recruiting Dunn.

With Shaw graduating and Cox not likely getting a fifth year, there is room for another running back. Especially since Michigan's coaches want to add a more physical element to the run game. Dunn and Johnson would be a great combination.

I doubt we take another RB.  If we take Payton, one of the OL, one of the DB's, there is only room for one more and Dunn said he isn't enrolling early so I don't know if we could take him. I feel like if we go after Dunn still, Drake won't come here as a RB, more of a special teams or slot player.

Sam also said he thinks they will still recruit Bri'onte.

I think if Bri'ote wants to enroll in Jan. then I think there is a high probability of him coming. If it drags out to signing day, I am less optimistic.

That he doesn't think it precludes them from recruiting Bri'onte Dunn, FWIW.

If they're not sure they're going to get another OL guy, they could take 2 backs. And there's nothing to say Drake's whole career will be at RB.

Remember back on signing day when Hoke said he would like to take two backs in each class for that reason exactly.  That backs are usually athletic enough to move elsewhere.

I think this is the right line of thought, given what Hoke has said in the past.  Give the kid a shot at RB.  But if he gets passed up, there are lots of other positions where that speed could make him a real asset.

Why couldn't we take another OL guy? 2 WR's, 1 OL and the last spot is a toss-up. At this point, I'd give us just as much of a shot at Dunn as Wright or Shaq Thompson.

It's just not a live or die need, and it seems like a number of our top prospects might be leaning a little in different directions right now. If one of our top guys says he wants to come, we'll take him. It's just that we're not taking a second choice guy just to fill an OL slot at this point. But talent's talent.

I figure we're pretty solid to get 2 of our many options at WR, maybe Wright, and Dunn, OL guy, or whoever else to fill out the class. I'm just guessing there's more of a chance if Dunn wants to come there will be an open spot because none of the remaining big time O-line guys want to come across the Country to Michigan.

I think adding another OL is more important than another player in the secondary given our atrocious depth in the line right now. All I was saying is that if they do take 2 RB's (actually 3 with Houma), I think it's more likely Dunn would take up the Wright/Thompson spot and not an OL spot as I still think we have a good shot at Garnett (although he's far away) or possibly Diamond again (who's close by) and we're still in the mix for some other big-time prospects. At the end of the day, I just want moar stars!

AJ Williams dominated on the offensive line this year so some have speculated he could easily move there if he added weight. Of course he was offered as a TE but at his size already (6'6, 275), there's no way he keeps off the weight once he starts hitting the gym at Michigan.

I'm in no way saying another O-lineman is a waste. We could use them. It's just with then numbers we have, it wouldn't be a tragedy. Just like if we don't get Wright (or almost anyone other than 0 receivers) it wouldn't be the end of the world. But we'd still take them, because they're good.  I just get a sense from some of the recruiting posts that Diamond doesn't seem as likely, and guys like Garnett might be looking to stay west coast a little more, and someone like Wright might have stronger interest. It might be a race for those who want to say "yes".  I just see receiver as the only position we might stretch and take a guy we don't really want for just having bodies, which we probably won't do on the line, or secondary.

Agreed, especially what you said about recruiting WR's. I guess I just thought that when you said "If they're not sure they're going to get another OL guy, they could take 2 backs" in your original post, I took it to mean that they'd only take Dunn in place of an OL recruit.

After watching his last high school game, Sam Webb said AJ Williams has had an outstanding senior year and has developed into a great blocker.  Further, he said he was close to 290 right now and his skills were so developed he could potentially see the field at Michigan at tackle "quickly".  Apparently, he pancaked lots of guys during the game.  If this is true, maybe the coaches now feel it's not the end of the world if we don't get another lineman? 

I still think we go after Dunn hard.  But, it's good to see a really good local player coming here.  Johnson may surprise a heck of a lot of people.

He's a nice sized back and to be able to break the state rushing record running behind a Pioneer O-Line is might impressive.  I have a good feeling about this kid.

I'll guess Jim Harbaugh.  I don't really have a handle on other Pioneer grads.  I rememer Keith Bostic in the early 80s.

If I remember correctly I don't think harbaugh actually graduated from pioneer. I thought he moved during his time at pioneer. I could be wrong though.

I looked at Wikipedia before I posted.  I saw that Harbaugh had attended both Palo Alto High and Pioneer.  I had assumed that they had moved to Ann Arbor from Palo Alto, but you could be right that the move was in the other direction and that he finished in California. 

There is a picture of Jim Harbaugh as a young kid on the field at Michigan horsing around with QB Rick Leach.  Jim looked like he was in middle school.  I guess that probably means you are right and that he graduated from Palo Alto.

Tim Anderson and Andy Moeller were PiHi grads who played early to mid 80s.  They were good.  Of course, I am biased.  At the same time, we also had 2 walk-on twin brothers from PiHi who had quite a reputation on the team as tough SOBs.  Bo loved them.

Let's also not foret that he is a former teammate of Fred Jackson's son Jeremy, and being right accross the street you have to assume Fred and Co. have had ample opportunity to evaluate him.

Can one of our recruiting gurus on this site post some info on this kid?  I don't know much about him, other than that he obviously wants to be here, given the acceptance 5 minutes after the offer.
