As if landing a likely 5 star WR isn't good enough, they also have legitimate interest from Artavis Scott and KJ Williams.  Obvious statement but this class is shaping up to be very special.

My friend wrote that actually (/coolstorybro). I was going to post it to point out that fact. However, it only covered each coach's first four years and apparently dantonio has been recruiting more nationally the last two years as opposed to the four covered in the article.

Speight has looked way tall in every picture I've seen with recruits.  He towered over Mason Cole too.

That said, maybe Harris isn't really as tall as is advertised.  The fact that he's such a huge bball recruit as a 2-guard would suggest otherwise though.  Not a ton of schools drooling over 6'1" shooting guards.

1.  I've had the pleasure of watching Harris play football the last 2 seasons, and believe me, he is the real deal.  He has the full package and will make an immediate impact.  His initial acceleration that gets is absolutely insane.  He has a great HS coaching staff that will make sure he's ready once he gets to Michigan

2.  Not that he was probably considering MSU too seriously anyways, but Dantonio really blew this.  He barely was talking to Drake, and it was actually Izzo that finally got Drake to get in contact with Dantonio last week

1.) Obviously you've been looking at the wrong player. He is very overrated and a three star talent at best.

2.) Dantonio did not not blow it. He cooled on him after realizing that he isn't a good fit here and that there is better talent out there.

3.) Harris settled for scUM after realizing that he couldn't crack the depth chart at elite programs such as ours, Alabama, FSU, or Oregon.

This kid is crazy good. The one word that I think that describes him best is :Smooth

He looks like Jerry Rice out there. Yeah I said it. Such a graceful athlete. This is a monumental pickup

I'm sure MSU fans will be bitching about how Harris is overrated, not MSU material, and we're an inferior program to them. But that's just code for their inability to get over the fact that Hoke is thoroughly out-recruiting Dantonio. And it will show on the field.

Another classic:

Is anybody else getting the feeling that maybe the school down the road is not playing within the rules? Coming off their worse run in decades, they bring in their 3rd or 4th choice for HC and he ends up being the elusive "elephant hunter". I know they have a great brand, but they are beating the elite in cfb, as well as other known cheating schools for recruits left and right. DH grew up a State fan and could go anywhere, but chooses our rival, right after a visit to tOSU? Was he looking for a counter offer? What I do know is that school and fanbase derive their whole identity from the perception that they are a football power, how far would they go to keep that in tact. To compete with the best year in and out (cheating SEC schools, tOSU, USC) you have to get a little dirty.

Oh yes, who would commit to a program with top knotch facilities, top knotch coaches, top knotch academics, a ton of national TV exposure, the greatest rivalry game in the sport, and 114,000 fans watching you every Saturday?

That sad thing to that rediculous rant is all the replies were almost just as pathetic.  I saw only one MSU fan call the OP out on that.  All their posts are so pathetic there.  It's all "scummy, scum, hoke is fat, walmy, walmarters, f*ck scUM"" language.

Of what has been going on behind these scenes recently:

http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130414/SPORTS0201/304140329/1131/r…

I found this quote by GRC Head coach Don Fellows interesting:

"As a coach, I'm happy for him. It doesn't matter where he goes. Sure, you want him to stay in the Midwest, stay close to home. During this process we've met a lot of good people, and we've met some not so good. The (schools) he narrowed his choices down to were all good to him."

Harris had narrowed his choices to Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Ohio State recently, FYI, it said.  I like that Alabama wasn't on that list despite Saban sending a  ton of letters to Harris day after day.

The final pieces of the national championship puzzle are coming together. Time will tell but does anyone else think Hoke & Co are better recruiters than Lloyd? Gotta be close, right?

If the last two years of recruiting are any indication, Hoke and Co. will prove to be far better recruiters than Carr. Carr had his share of top-10 classes, but if I'm not mistaken, he didn't get them consistently. But, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Now, if Hoke goes out and wins himself a Rose Bowl, perhaps more, I think we'll start seeing strings of top 5, maybe top 3 classes, which Carr never had.

In the Rivals/Scout era class rankings were: 16/19, 17/8, 8/5, 6/2, 13/9, 12/10. And that's not including some of the earlier classes that were some of the best, like the 98 class which was 1 or 2, depending. We'll see if this year's smaller class gets ranked as high as his last two 7/4, 5/2, with less numbers. Of course they weigh numbers far less than they used too, so it's an inexact comparison. But if we can even stay close to this pace, we should be able to compete with anybody. Which is kinda nice...

Yeah, recruiting under Carr was still very good, and our class sizes were usually smaller then too, which is why some of those classes were ranked lower despite being very good classes.

And you're also correct that the classes before Rivals were probably better than those after, because we were having more on-field success then.
