Hey, that's my high school! I somewhat know that kid, he was one of the better players on the defense that won a state title pretty convincingly this year. That's awesome for him and Michigan.

We are killing it with preferred walk-ons. Always good to have hard working guys doing everything they can for the team / to earn a scholarship. Many people scoff at walk-ons but a decent percentage of them turn out pretty solid. Welcome to Michigan young man.

247Sports doesn't seem to have a listing for him either, so it is difficult to track down indeed. NJ High School Sports had some of his stats from 2014, but like MaxPreps and other sites that collect information on high school players, it seems less than complete - it lists 10 sacks and 27 tackles across only 5-6 games, which doesn't strike me as right somehow. I could always be missing something here, of course.

HS is loaded - Brandon Wimbush to ND, Minkah Fitzpatrick to Bama - just 2 guys who signed this past February.  Both guys in the top 50 per 247 composite.   At least it gives Michigan a tiny foothold into this market.  Perhaps that NJ coach who is now in UM admin gave Jimbo the heads up on this kid.

I wonder if Michigan ever landed a scholarship player from the school.

Two-hundred and twenty-seven wins. Twenty county titles. Ten state championship appearances. Four state titles. Five NFL players, including current Baltimore Ravens safety Will Hill. Dozens of Division I players. This is what a New Jersey football powerhouse looks like.

That crosses the line, I would swear it's two photos spliced together. But that has nothing to do with the announcement. Congrats young man! Welcome to Michigan!

Does anyone know the status of some of the big targets who've been visiting lately? Can we expect any big names to finally verbal in the next few weeks? This time of year was prime time for Hoke. Getting a PWO is always nice, but there's usually a reason we aren't giving them a scholarship.

Harbaugh is really going to scrap between now and the season for recruits.

He's still warming up on the recruiting front.  He's not going to get commits overnight coming from the NFL.  He was so focused on finishing up the 2015 class that he's just getting going on the 2016 class where his peers had at least a year to warm up to these recruits already.
