Yes. Darius played his best game of the year, hands down, tonight. Looked in control of the offense, took his shots, and hit some of them. Great passes. Great press break. Good signs heading forward, as he can, and likely will, be the leader of the offense for years to come. Welcome, Mr. Morris.

Morris has tremendous upside and I believe he will be given the point from now on and will continue to improve. Now if we can only convince Manny to stay another year...

agreed. in the beginning of the game I thought I was seeing the coming out party Justin Fargas had at Northwestern in that monsoon. Not quite but damn close and a really swell harbinger of Darius' future.

at that game. I've never seen it rain that hard at a football game. The field was a mess but Fargas looked fantastic.

Sensational in almost every aspect of the game tonight. Hit a few shots, still would like to see the free throws go down at a little higher rate, but hopefully that comes with time.
He was penetrating and looked poised as could be out there. The kid has some serious upside.

I really hope it wasn't just the minnesota style. I feel like their press can make a big, strong guard like darius look real good.
But I think he's been coming into it the last few weeks, and I'm looking forward to four years with this kid at the point*.
*Can we, by the way, contrast this with the years of converted from shooting point guards that Michigan had in the Amaker/Fisher years (I skipped Ellberbe on purpose, because I liked Kevin Gaines, he was also a "true" point guard). Anyway, I'm excited to have a true point guard, and I think we got a good one.

He needs to get in the gym and work on his jumper this offseason. He could become a great player if he is successful at doing this, because it already looks like he has the ability to make the right decision.

I was trying to be ironical as D. Morris has been pretty useless so far this year, so it was like he arrived today. Like Brian does on his posts when the kid signs.

Here's to hoping ever team presses us from now on. Darius killed it tonight and Harris did a great job of making the final pass but Morris broke it down and got it up the court quickly

I was amazed with how the Gophers stuck to the press even when we absolutely killed it again and again in the 2nd half. Why not sit back and clog the middle...make Michigan beat you with an outside shot?? I still think Tubby is a great coach but his stubbornness cost them the game tonight.
Anyway kudos to Morris, as well as Douglass and Novak for stellar defense and rebounding. Maybe not a huge win in the grand scheme of things but I'm certainly less pessimistic about the Big Ten tournament/next season than I was before tonight.

with ball skills. Always hustling and plays pretty solid D as a frosh. Also, like Novak, could use some work on his shot. He will be a good one. I hope he has someone to dish to next year though.

... of this board are a lot higher than that of ESPN's (I know, big surprise) because I was commenting (I know negbang for commenting on ESPN's boards) on how Morris seemed to be playing a really good game, and the responses I got were akin to "Dude you're an idiot he only got 5 points Michigan blows go lose to App. State again." You know how it is

A comment from ESPN's recap of the game (via AP):
"Michigan, the Big Ten's worst 3-point shooting team, went 7-for-14 from behind the arc and used that confusing, smothering 1-3-1 zone defense to send the Gophers (5-6, 14-9) to a costly defeat."
1-3-1 zone? Is that what they are calling man-to-man these days? I swear we only did that 2 or 3 times the whole game.
