Not exactly shocking but still good news.
to play football, not to play trumpet
Not exactly shocking but still good news.
Awesome. His measurables and style of play could make him a very valuable part of the team.
We need a commit everyday just for this reason..
My day is complete.
Who is for pink and who is for animal print? I'd say I'm a fan of the pink...
i never get tired of her bouncing
I give you, the Kate Upton Cat Daddy:
but you can see Kate doin' the Cat Daddy in Hi-def here:
Some gals don't look better in hi-def; but Kate rocks in "super vision"
Oh, I should add that there are a few other 'not for the kids' vids there as well.
YES! But why so fast? The slo-mo is the key part of this video. In my expert opinion.
although in this one she looks like she is working; in the other one she is having fun.
after a quick google images search of Caris, Kate Upton is on the second page of images.
If he grew out a mohawk and got inked up, kid could be our brandon jennings
Living in Milwaukee Idk if I have the patience for two brandon jennings in my life
I was promised a commitment on Wednesday. He is already on my shit list for making me wait two days.
Welcome aboard, Caris - great way to kick-off Friday evening.
The last Mr. Basketball in Ohio seemed to work out pretty well for us. Looking forward to good things from Caris!
this past year's Mr. Basketball in Ohio was Justin Fritts from Mentor High School and is playing at Wheeling Jesuit University
Still...last year's was pretty good.
Whoops...I was thinking Burke was the last one.
Eiteher way, the other dude didn't go to OSU or another Big Ten school, so it worked out well for us.
No, he's saying Burke did win but Caris LeVert did not. He was only the POY for that site, the Mr. Basketball comittee disagreed.
Ohhh....well, damn. I look like a fool twice now. I thought I read somewhere that he was Mr. Basketball during the initial scouting reports. My bad.
It's all good. Easy to get confused on all the poaching we do of prospects out of Ohio.
I like it.
Was Groce not interested in him at Illinois? Or maybe their scholarship situation didn't support it. Just curious, not trying to allude.
I think I read that he was barred from transferring there as a condition of his release.
Agree with Robby. What the hell took so long... Wednesday was a long ass day and announcement never came.. He'll be on Shit list all wkend.
you... not sure if srs...
Awesome. Caris fits the system well and I am super excited for him to get on capmus. This 2012 class is SOLID.
Can we call this class the Fab Five II?
Pretty talented class in it's own right, this has to be the best recruiting class since the Fab Five Boys.
As much as I like this class, Webber, Howard, Rose, King, and Jackson were the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 84th ranked players in the nation.
It would have to be a pretty damn elite class to be considered the Fab Five part duex.
Because of Chris Webber's greed, the Fab Five don't officially exist. Therefore, this class can't help but be better.
I think Caris LaVert has a lot of upside because he has improved so much the last few years. Players who get that much better so fast either do it by working their asses off, or because they suddenly grew from 6-3 to 6-10, like Terry Mills did from soph to junior in HS. Since LaVert is still 6-3 it is likely that he is a very coachable player and an extremely hard worker.
My guess is that he is a great fit for the program, and turns out to be a very good player by the time he is finished at Michigan.
Caris started out as a 5'9" freshman and is now a ~6'5" combo guard. I don't know anything about his work ethic but he was the 6th man on his team as a junior, had a good AAU season, and signed with OHIO (!!!!). Then balled out as a senior and led his team along with a certain Taco to a state championship in the highest division in Ohio. Someone on here who knew his dad (RIP) posted that he was from a good family and is a good kid, which is pretty much a Beilein rquirement. So yeah, he'll probably be willing to work and will hopefully succeed accordingly. Most obvious area for improvement is an easy one: get in the S&C program. Good thing is that he gives us a long scorer for those certain times that the offense goes dead, something that has been a problem in the past. Of course with the way we have recruited, that skill might be a little redundant (muwhaahhahahahh).
Not so sure... I'd say the Traylor / Bullock / Albert White and Willie Mitchell / Mo Taylor / Jerod Ward / Maceo Baston / Travis Conlan classes were equal or better but I'm excited to find out. Definitely the best class since that era and hopefully the foundation for the next golden age in UM hoops.
...but in retrospect, those classes were not only nothing special, but I blame certain members of them more than I blame Webber for the tire fire our program subsequently became.
The name traylor makes me sad. He always seemed like a good dude, no matter the damage he helped to inflict on the program. Rip big guy.
The Class with Jerod Ward and the other 4 or 5 that came with him would have to be considered better than this one.
I was so excited as a youngster when Jerod Ward was coming. I remember reading how he could shoot righty or lefty and thought that was awesome. It broke my heart when I found out he couldnt shoot either handed.
You crack me up man!!! Your discription of Jerod Ward was spot on.
I remember him being the #1 Player in the Nation and blah, blah, blah, but man he was a very pedestrian player at best. That class was big time in recruiting rankings at the time but they underachieved and like a previous poster pointed out, they really hurt our program in the end.
This class, because of the coaching staff, I think has a huge upside, hope they stay in school at least a couple of years and blossom more so. This class might not have the rankings of previous classes, however a player can really become something special in a 2-4 year period w/the right coaching and great facilities, so we shall see how they matriculate.
That class lacked on and off-court leadership, as well. Jalen held the Fab Five together, but subsequent super-classes in the 90's lacked a CEO. And Fisher's style was a bit too loose to make up the void.
It wasn't so much his right or left hand that were the issue but his right and left knee. He had a lot of potential but every time he started to learn and improve a new ligament would pop. Never got to fulfill even half of his potential.
That honor goes to Jamal Crawford, Kevin Gaines, Leland Anderson, Gavin groninger, and lavell Blanchard.
That is all.
I really think that Caris is a terrific fit for us. His outside shot should match up nicely with Mitch inside and Trey's dribble penetration. I'm thinking he really makes the D pay when they collapse to the inside, which they will pretty much have to do if they don't want to get dunked on.
BTW - if you go to Scout and look at our recruting class, they have Nick Stauskas listed twice. The neat thing is that one Nick is a three star and the other is a four star. Guess it depends if his shot is falling that day . . .
Makes you wonder how often they update.
Great for depth, and any unforseen early departures. Starting to enjoy pulling these "Mr. Basketball's" out of that state.
Can't waite for the season to get here!
Game wise Levert is a much better fit than the last off guard Beilein signed;' Carlton Brundidge.
The signings of Levert and Albrecht are very important for Beilein and the M hoops program. They appear to be four year guys with talent to contribute. Nice signings.
The class now stands at 5:
Great recovery by Beilein and Co. to be able to recover from the mass exodus of Novak and Douglass (graduation), Smot, Brundidge and Christian, (disillusioned), to keep the program on strong footing. Next year is going to be interesting.
Nice finish indeed Gordie. Welcome aboard Caris.
Its a good thing we don't need him to play right away. Being able to redshirt guys in basketball sure would be nice, and not just because they are injured.
TGIF. This is good news to start the weekend.
Are Michigan basketball jerseys selling well in Ohio?
Welcome aboard, Caris. Silky smooth off-guards are always welcomed in JB's offense.
He is going to get a fantastic education and win some big10 titles! Welcome aboard! Anytime you can get a Mr. basketball you gotta smile! Not so concerned with "he fits our system"....he can straight up play!
That's pretty bad when the school you play your college ball for doesn't have a page on Wikipedia.
Hope Trey loan him some of his work out tapes. Some one needs to introduce this kid to some steel, some hills, and maybe meals on wheels.
Welcome aboard young man.
Just hoping he is not Colton Christian Part II, Electric Boogaloo
Watched him beat Liberty High School (school I teach at) in the state regional semifinals in Ohio and he scored 27 points. Lanky, smooth, and tons of range, his only negative is that he's extremely skinny. Definitely needs a redshirt year, but a very nice addition!
Nope totally doctored. At the 0:57 mark you can actually see the ball change shape and color. And Caris' left arm shrinks 2 inches.
Eddie Levert (founder of and lead singer for the O'Jays), and his sons, the late Gerald and Sean Levert (had a slightly cheesy song called "Casanova" in the 80s amongst lesser known but higher quality songs) all hail from Ohio. Just curious if anyone knew of a familial connection there. I did not come across one in my Internet search. And welcome to Caris, who will be very happy he joined the ranks of the leaders and best.
