Good news! Might want to clean up the formatting a little.
kate's swimsuit cover arrives in the mail today and now this!!
who is the other one soon to commit? They do come in pairs afterall...
Well, since they tend to come in pairs by position group, I'd have to say that Da'Shawn Hand is next.
BALL SO HARD! BEAT STATE!
4 star on rivals #172 nationally
4 star on scout #7 DT in the class
I'd expect his rankings to rise over the summer. He has crazy athleticism and speed for a DT, let alone one as big as he is.
To start off ranked so well by both sites is definately a good sign. If he jumps up to one of the top 5 DT's in the class, at least on scout, that would make him a pretty good candidate for a 5th star. But maybe that's me getting ahead of myself.
Nice. He decided that once he got listed on Rivals, he had to commit. Is it MONE or MON-EE? MON-EE being my preference.
Isn't it Mon-ay?
Count Da Money
That video never gets old.
This kid is a monster.
We can be expecting another storm of Commits like last year?
According to rivals he was our first offer for the 2014 class.
Btw I love the inroads into Utah and with the Samoans specifically...same HS as Haloti Ngata and I'm sure a big thanks is owed to Sione Houma as well.
Houma is Tongan. And if I had to guess, I'd say that Mone is Tongan as well. I think he'll find it funny that people over here don't know the difference between the two
My apologies. My senior year at UM I took a PoliSci class about Pacific Rim politics focusing on Tonga and the like...but I guess that hasn't prevented other ignorance about the area. I thought Samoans referred to the larger area.
Apology accepted. I didn't even know what a tongan was before today. As soon as I knew, I became offended by your comment, then I read your apology, now here I am accepting it.
Knowledge is power.
No big deal. I used to live in the South Pacific (Nuku'alofa is beautiful this time of year) and I still have trouble identifying some people. I just wonder how long it will take for someone in Michigan to ask him how he's related to The Rock.
Hey, fuck you, miss! Take a joke, you got your period?
Summer Heights High posts get an automatic +1 or gold star or whatever the currency is here...Puck You, Miss!
But credit to the coaches as well. He gushed about the program according to an interview I read, but the coaches are the what makes him do that.
This should also satisfy Brian a bit. It's worth using a scholarship on a fullback if you can get a guy like him. His highlight tape is fantastic.
Hoke/Helinski are geniuses. Houma is gonna be a valuable player but building inroads at the school that produces beasts like Mone is key longterm. Viva Hoke!
Mone is a great addition to the class. Love him joining the 2014 class.
I feel like DT is a position we need athleticism and size going forward, and it looks like Mone fits the bill! Regardless, I'm glad he is Blue, and hopefully this will kickstart a flood of recruits in the coming days/weeks! Go blue! Welcome to the family.
Magnus, I hope you're right about this dude.
Seems to be really good to us.
FEBRUARY CROOTIN'
CROOTIN - My new tag for anything recruiting related.
I can't help but read that in a southern accent. "OOHWEE I SURE DO LOVE ME SOME FEBRARY CROOTIN!!"
man eating Samoan with endless rage for opposing QBs...me like
Welcome Bryan!!
I read your post too quickly (or have dyslexia) thought you said "me too" and was gonna post something snarky but...well...glad to see him here! Go Blue!
I read it with dyslexia as well, except I saw:
Giant Samoan man eating opposing QBs with endless rage like me.
~Herm
Huge pickup.
Poggi. Pipkins. Hurst. Mone.
And imagine with Malik or/and Da'shawn Hand with those big boys.
On Willie Henry.
if I can't do that, can I at least sleep on Kate Upton?
Mone, Mone, Mone, Mo-ne.......MONE!
Et tu, Billy Idol ?
Et toi, Tommy James?
Looks like Ace and TomVH are confirming as well.
We're still a week away from the one-year anniversary of probably the greatest weekend in MIchigan recruiting history. Is this beginning of a repeat?
Going to be a good day today!
Huge pick-up. First offer to any 2014 recruit, so happy to have this guy on board.
Here's to hoping add DaShawn and Malik on the outsides, and Mone on the inside.
Congratulations Bryan Mone.
This gif is pure awesomeness. Just sayin'. Thanks for posting.
Welcome to the family
Welcome!
I guess he's not tough enough for Urb.
Excellent News and Welcome Aboard!
Glad the Kate Upton dance party has already started, do we know if this years SI shoot has yielded any new ones?
i like what Hoke did... get Houma the fullback, who is good in his own right, but also could open the door to get the next Ngata... bravo...
but according to the twitterz it's the same high school as Haloti Ngata. Yes plz.
Yes, Mone and Houma went to the same high school.
Dear Utah,
Please send your big DTs to UM.
Thanks,
jtmc33
welcome to the program Mr. Mone, may you have a great career.
Keep em' coming Coach Hoke!
Welcome aboard, Bryan!
How do you feel about this, Bo Duke?
Right on, Bo. Right on.
Welcome Bryan. With coaches like coach Montogmery and coach Mattison, you will be part of the best defensive line in the country.
Go Blue!
That on the Rivals 250 board people were just wondering what his timeline for a decision was. Also, I believe Magnus stated that he believes that he was underated at #172 and looks like a top 100 player. Great pickup!
I haz massive hard on. Kidding kind of. Seriously though, quality pick up of a non Midwest guy.
Some Dude was talking about his boner on the bored today..
Board**
you'll go blind.
That's strange stuff man.
Is that street?
an emotional hard on?
I think that'll help all of us sleep better at night.
Pure awesomeness!
upvote anything related to Jimi.
"It's a Jimi thing."
Awesome.
The kid is the size of a moose at 315. Already close to playing weight
Basketball preview day, and now he's got to get a Hello post done before the game starts. Then he will need to write a recap post afterward. Somebody get this man some coffee.
This kid is a terrific talent. His athleticism, leverage and pursuit are elite level; plus he seems to possess a high-octane attitude.
6'4 and 310 are probably exaggerated but he should have zero issues being physically ready to play by 2014.
Great news ... And a big welcome to Bryan. Go Blue.
Primary recruiter for each of the 2014 #Michigan commits thus far = Jerry Montgomery. #KillingIt
— Sam Webb (@SamWebb77) February 12, 2013
but Montgomery is the coach I feel is most likely to have a stack of cash thrown his way to go be a D-coordinator at some other FBS school. He's been successful everywhere he's gone (our D-line has exceeded expectations both years now) and he's a killer recruiter. I'm sure people are eyeballing him already
Even if that is the case, I think Michigan will do its best to hold onto him. I think this staff genuinely likes working together and there is probably potential for Montgomery to succeed Mattison when he decides to retire. Brandon has made it a priority to retain assistants and if Montgomery gets offers, I'd guess he'll get money thrown at him here too.
I'm sure most OSU fans out there will be quick to reassure us that he's just a leftover that Meyer won't want anyway. But in all seriousness, this kid looks like a wooly mammoth. Looking forward to seeing him on the field. Welcome aboard, good sir.
This is great to see! We can use the momentum going into tonight (and then Feb 24th weekend!). Go Blue Mone
We can probably only take 2-3 defensive linemen in this class. If that's the case, Mone would get the spot for me every time over Marshall.
Mone is probably a step above Marshall, but unless we end up with an absurd DL class like Mone/Hand/McDowell, I'd still like to see a WDE pass rusher in there. Marshall was probably our best offer at the position if you exclude the elite national guys that are going to be nearly impossible to pull in.
Beers are on me this week!
He is also cousins with stud 2015 offerr OLB/ATH Osa Mesina.
Talented family. Just looked at Masina's video and he looks awesome. Hope he visits Ann Arbor with Bryan.
I am so pumped! I think Mone has as much potential as any prospect we're looking at for 2014. Great way to start 2014 defensive line recruiting.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS...congrats Bryan!
A lot of people are chalking this up to landing Houma first, but there is that minor detail of a certain defensive coordinator coaching Haloti Ngata in the NFL...
Hello posts make me swoon
When it comes to recruiting, this staff does not miss a beat when it comes moving right to the next class, identifying talent early and building relationships early in the process, and it seems to repeatedly pay off - awesome stuff.
Welcome to the Michigan family, Bryan Mone!
I truly think Mone will end up being the best commit in this class, regardless of what he is ranked....
He is extremely versatile, strong, fast, and big.... This is a kid who can be plugged in anywhere on the DL and can create matchup problems...
There's a reason our coaching staff thought he was worthy of the first offer for the class of 2014....
I think if he actually attends some of the 'camps,' (Rivals), and is invited to an All-Star game, he could have a Pipkins like rise in the rankings....
I hope he becomes everything you're hoping he becomes, but we have three guys in this class. We don't even know who's going to be in the class. We're in the mix for a lot of highly rated propsects that could make a dent both in the recruiting rankings and on the field once they get to Michigan. But if you already think that highly of him...that's something.
Can't wait to see him ripping through that sorry ass Buckeye offensive line.
Yep
I can't wait to see a DL of Mone, Pee Wee, Henry/Hurst, and Wormley. Good luck running against that line. I'd also love to see us be able to put something together like SC did with their "Rabbit" DL (or whatever they called it with all their speed rushers together). Mone, Mario, Poggi, TBD (obviously hopefully McDowell or Hand). God I love the way this staff recruits, the versatility we have on defense is absolutely astounding on all three levels.
Stanford had made him a somewhat high priority, but looks like we'll have to search elsewhere.
Coolness. One of the few 2014 targets I was hoping UM landed.
So you don't want Michigan to land most of their 2014 targets?
You are officially invited to learn how to kill PSU QB's dead.
I approve of this post!
is actually the background on my laptop.
Cheers!
He uses his hands as well as any high school DT I've seen. That's encouraging.
So giddy!
As a Utah wolverine myself - welcome aboard Bryan!
The last Utah player I recall is Jeff Holtry. Is that correct?
I think Houma is from Utah, so he'd be the last one. Could be wrong though, that tends to happen a lot.
Here are my thoughts on Mone:

Welcome to Michigan, Bryan!
Man just got home from work and missed all the fun! DAMN IT!
Great pick up for Michigan I can't wait to see this kid to line up in the maize and blue.
Also on a side note it's been exactly one year since I made my MgoBlog account!!!!!!! I couldn't wait to post all day hahaha
Welcome Byran! Great addition to the 2014 class.
