Hello: Blade Jenkins - 2018 Hockey

Submitted by BlueCube on

Michigan hockey received its first commitment born in 2000 when Forward Blade Jenkins announced he would attend UM. He is 14 years old and the son of current Compuware coach Todd Jenkins.

Blade is currently 5'10" and weighs 155 lbs.

Go work at an elementary school and ask the kids when they were born. Still gets me every day.

But this is crazy too. He's got an awesome name though. Perfect for hockey.

Still amazing to me to think that someone that old sees 9/11 as a historical event and not something they vividly remember happening

Anyway, welcome aboard

Like others, I take this as a sign that I am passing slowly into "old-ish" territory. This kid will be 18 years old and taking his first classes at Michigan at a point when I'll be then 40 years old and 18 years removed from my graduation at Michigan. I told my wife recently that the second sign of "veteran young guy" status ending (the first being the look on my daughter's face when I explained to her what video games looked like when I was eight like her) was talk about recruits and commitments from kids born after I graduated. Well, it has happened.

Don't feel too bad about our generations video games. My brother in law has original Nintendo and my lil 5 year old before would rather play punch out and Mario instead of ps4. I think it's the cartoon look and cool music that hooks him, not to mention we like it, so he wants to be like the cool kids.

Also...

Nintendo and Atari games were simple to understand and you could play a game from start to finish in 10 minutes if that is all the time you had. These days there are five hours of plot and storyline and "this is how the game works" crap. I miss the good old days of space invaders, galaga, centipede ad Mario.
