Per Shane Morris and Ross Douglas. Great to have him back. This is why you don't trash on recruits who decommitt.
to play football, not to play trumpet
Couldn't agree more. Dawson's going to make the university proud.
Happy to have him back!
Even if Dawson had decided not to recommit, it's still not acceptable to trash a recruit for decommitting,...EVER. Fans need to grow up.
It isn't appropriate to trash recruits, period. While we may be unlikely to see Laquon Treadwell come to Michigan, no blogs including our own should be dissing him because he hasn't come to Michigan.
This is very good news! Also yeah, we shouldn't trash recruits period, their 17/18 year old's trying to make a life decision. Dawson had a lot of difficulties with this tragic story as well. Glad to have him back!
There are recruits with 17/18 year old kids? They're certainly ahead of their peers physically if that is their case.
edit: This was supposed to be in response to the poor grammar of the post ABOVE the post my reply replied to.
Awesome. Love this kid.
I wonder how many people that trashed him on the decommitment thread are going to praise him on the recommitment thread.
But what about Vrabel's flag planting?
Hell yeah! Welcome back David! This helps our chances with Green too!
You never ever bad mouth a kid that decommits, and shouldn't bad mouth any High School recruit in general.
He knows we wanted more Kate Upton GIFS
Can we get the brother from Napoleon Dynamite gif in here too
U don't have to look at her face, but it is a secondary bonus
I receive a bonus each time I see Kate. Bonus is a Latin word, right?
Badest ass. The OL is back together. Of all of the kids we were in on, he is one of the best to get. Who needs receivers when your running backs have semi-truck sized holes to run through?
Welcome back Dawson!
I love good news. David - welcome to the family for life!
Welcome back David.
Really glad that Dawson is back in the class. He's had a rough year. Happy that he's back with family.
Glad to hear he won't be visiting tOSU....He won't, right??
I think there's about a 0.1% chance that happens
Doubt it now. I mean his original plan was to commit to UM on national TV after his Ohio visit...
Welcome back Davo!
AND Hill commited. What a day.
Delano Hill as well! Two Cass Tech guys today!
Welcome home David...where you belong!
Keep using those pipeline points Brady!!
we can get awesome recruits like Dawson to commit twice. Soo glad he's back! Michigan Man!
I thought he was going to STAEE??!!!
This can do nothing but help with D. Green...
My thought too, the free Rivals article made it seem like Dawson and Green are still in regular contact. Maybe this will make it easier for Green to commit.
What? I thought Ohio planted their flag????
but planting a flag there has never seemed like the smartest thing to do. I just chalk it up to my own ignorance. Carry on, tOSU.
Also - I am as happy for Dawson to have put himself in a good situation as I am for Michigan being the receipient of his services.
Some time back, I saw a post on the twitterz and took the time to track it down. It included a couple of noteworthy posts.
A post by DD, which included the phrase "that ship has sailed". As I have previously stated, that leapt off the page, although I am happy to report it didn't "literally" leap off the page at me.
That was followed by a post from Recruiting HQ, Warren Branch in which SM exhorted "call Hoke".
Some few days later, we began hearing rumors that DD might be returning to the fold. I have to believe there is a story here, but if SM had anything to do with this, nice work! The cynical among us might think he has a vested interest in future blockers, of course, but I don't care!
I figured he would come on back home. Welcome back home David...welcome back home...
Man it feels good to see a Hello thread. It's been a while. Happy to have Dawson back. Hope this seals the deal for Derrick Green. Go Blue!
Now he can flip the table and start recruiting Reschke. Or just convince Green ...
YES! very nice to have him back in the fold, greatest O-Line recruiting class in the country assemble!!!
is rated, but as a guard not a tackle. He's the 6th rated gaurd to Rivals.
Good detective work, which means he should be between #7 and #12 on the list I linked to.
So 5 out of the 28 4-5 stars are going to one team and Hoke's in serious talks with another 4 star.
EDIT: my bad, the list is just OTs. There are 43 4+ star OTs and OGs and we could end up with more than the entire Big 12 and 2 or 3 more than the next best team.
If Hoke could flip Reschke this class would be even more incredible. In the future, Hoke would only have to give the legendary finger point and the recruits would come running!
That is such great news! Glad to have him back with Michigan! Go Blue!!!
Want your flag back?
Seriously - welcome home, David!
I was extremely bummed when he de-committed. So glad he decided his initial decision was a good one afterall.
Our O-Line is going to be so deep that it's possible that if these latest 2 classes develop as well as we think they can, our 2nd stringers would be a great starting 5 for some other team.
This will be great for in-team competition and dealing with injuries.
Also great news about Delano Hill, I really liked his film, seems like a real ball hawk, welcome to the M Family guys and Go Blue!!!
So glad to have Dawson back in the family.
I love this gif. I can't exactly read what the woman is saying, but I'm going to assume it's "welcome back."
as in "pray for this goofy fuck to my right"
Welcome back Mr. Dawson
Nice to have you, David.
With Dawson coming to Ann Arbor, the average OL recruit for the 2013 class is 6'5", 295 pounds with some growing yet to do perhaps. Yes, this road shall have a smooth, even grade for our RBs.
Tell me that Funk didn't walk on air for at least 15 minutes.
Dan Skipper's visit could be a little awkward from here on out. Assuming there not taking anymore lineman.
I thought people were saying there might be room for one more after this?
..... there has been so much neg karma here lately. Absolutely Tremendous!! I wonder how big of hug he got! Great to have him back in the fold!
any hug has got to be a pretty big one to be successful.
This is one of those stories that brings out the maternal in me. No matter his size or stars, I'm so happy for him. Glad he's found his home. And had time to make sure it's the home he wanted.
This is awesome. Hopefully for now we can set aside all the 'Hoke's policy is stupid' talk for awhile. His policy appears to be both flexible (in that he hasn't been shutting doors on guys really, and allows for fluid situations to fully develop) and effective (in that we lost one recruit in this class who blew up in the rankings over time out of a very large, very early to commit class). To me at least, it's completely clear that this staff is full of world class recruiters and knows exactly what it's doing.
World class is okay, I suppose, but that won't do us any good against Sparty. We're so screwed.
I'm guessing no, but who knows at this point.
DEATH BY OFFENSIVE LINE
Five of Rivals' top 7 in the UM fold.
Reschke (#6) is facing 4 years of punishment unless he joins this tidal wave.
I am very happy he has committed again. Between last year and this years O Line recruits. I think we will be knocking people off the LOS,
Best birthday present i could have asked for
I can think of a few things I'd rather have. (insert Kate Upton GIF)
Well now that you mention it...
I would agree sir!
I couldn't agree more, I'm in the same boat!
Happy birthday my mans!!
Watching Arizona get their 3-3-5 shredded against Nevada makes me so much more content with Hoke as coach. Despite his lack of notoreity prior to getting this hire (and despite a couple really dumb decision in the 2nd half against ohio, and not trying Devin against Neb after Bellomy started 0-10(!) in the division deciding game), it's pretty clear he has shortened the curve back towards prominence and his recruiting prowess simply cannot be argued with at this point. I honestly do not think that Notre Dame is 'better' than Team 133, or Ohio. Nebraska actually sucks and that stings. Brady has Michigan right about where they need to be and it makes me very excited.
Welcome back to the good guys!
welcome back to the light, my son.
Great news. Now a win over WVU will cap off the day.
So happy to see Dawson back in the fold, it really seems like the best decision. With so many people close around, home is family and family is home son! And I've always been very impressed with his film.
Hill is just a great add. Top player in our backyard, from Detroit, so glad he stayed home and not to a division rival.
Outstanding work Hoke & Co., congratulations to Dawson and Hill!
The line is so critical, both on offense and defense. These unsung heros are what make and break the rest of the team. Dawson is a critical piece in the OL recruiting class. This class and last year's will make a huge difference.
I think in the final analysis, the biggest problem with Toussaint and the other running backs this year was not their own ability (or lack thereof,) nor was it playcalling by Borges. The biggest problem was the subpar play of the offensive line. If you read "between the lines" of Hoke's comments, the redshirt freshmen linemen could probably compete for playing time right now, but it isn't worth burning a year of eligibility.
One of the best things about the re-commitment of Dawson, and the 2012 & 2013 classes, is that Michigan can be extremely, extremely selective in who they recruit on the OL in 2014 & following. We already have Denzel Ward, who has a huge upside, even if he is raw. With Ward, there are really only three more spots in 2014, and we already have a big jump there.
It also bodes well for the future that Ohio is struggling with their line recruiting. Of course, they could sign quite a few in the next couple months, but it is unlikely.
My musings on this subject go back farther; I thought perhaps a year. But I was having trouble finding anything older.
that "loyalty" is neither "mythical" or "19th century". It is as important today as ever.
I'm fine with how this played out and welcome Mr. Dawson back. I credit the coaches too though, for sticking with their plan, and for working with David when he asked to be reconsidered.
Welcome back David...Michigan fans are delighted to have you back in blue.
