Hell Of a Game!

THATS what a real rivalry is all about down to the wire and close to the end! Awesome comeback by Tate Forcier and the Wolverines offense what a game it was exciting in the last minutes and Michigan did a great job coming back they have shown they can come back from 19 points down thats huge! The turnovers were bad for Michigan and times where we had the ball deep in MSU territory we should of scored and didn't. But man I take my hats off to our Wolverines what an effort to comeback. This game doesn't change my opinion of our boys in anyway. I still bleed maize and blue chant the "The Victors" every Friday and Saturday. I'm a true Michigan fan and I'm not pissed or screaming. It's a game, and a loss but next Saturday's a new day and new chance. Lets keep our chins held high guys were still 4-1. Pretty good season if you ask me so far.

That 8-4 people were talking about before the season would be good. I'm confident in this team, but staying realistic. We're not consistent enough yet, and the o-line needs a ton of work.

That's why I said it would be good, not guaranteed. The problem is that we're so inconsistent yet that we can surprise great teams and play inexplicably terrible against mediocre teams. That said, I'm still in the "bowl game and everything else is gravy" camp.

Michigan hasn't looked great the last couple weeks, but neither have Iowa, PSU or Wisconsin. Wisconsin barely beat Minny today, Iowa beat Arkansas State by 3, and PSU looked like crap against Iowa (an Iowa team I'm not buying at all). At worst, I'd say Michigan is a 60-40 underdog in those 3 games, so losing all of them is definitely possible, but I think we probably get at least one of them.

All the Michigan fans at my place for the game were just bitching and moaning the entire game, right until "the drive". And after OT were right back to being negative nancy's. It's a shame they couldn't just enjoy that great game for what it was. I'd still rather be 5-0 but 4-1 sounds just perfect after last years season that's for sure.

Absolutely. If someone said before the season, "Hey, can I sell you a 4-1 start for this season?" I think everyone on this board would have said, "Yes please, how much?" What we didn't expect is for the offense to be so explosive at times, tease us with the death butterfly, and to have to lose a nailbiter to State. If this loss was to anyone other than MSU right now, people would be in a much better mood.

I thought it was a great game, but it just annoys people to lose to MSU. If this had happened against Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, etc., I think most people would be bummed but okay. Now we have to hear about how MSU "owns the state", how RR "doesn't get this rivalry", how MSU is on the way back, etc. for the next year. I think this game showed just how good UM could be in the future, and how mediocre MSU will probably be. But to lose like that just drives me crazy.

Am hoping we can keep the offensive spark heading into the 1st quarter next week. Its been two straight weeks of not clicking until the late 2nd half. That said, this is a year to enjoy watching the team grow, and learning from this will go a looooooong way toward improvement for the remaining season. These guys at least always are making it fun to watch.

and for proper perspective. Michigan football is 4-1. sparty sucks, and losing to them sucks, and losing to them the way we did sucks. 4-1.

The defense played tough in the second half but overall limited the time for the offense to get going. MSU kept trying to kill their drives at the beginning with big stupid penalties and we kept giving up big plays. If we let Cousins get 41 yard scampers, what happens when Pryor comes to town? Kovacs had a huge game, especially for a walk-on. I like Roh dropping back into coverage but he needs to be aware of what the QB is doing also. That hit by Graham in the red zone was fantastic! O-Line needs a ton of work because Tate just was forced to scramble after 2 seconds on practically every play. He did well out of the pocket but you can see the result of forcing a scramble every play and thats a tired tired QB. He just had his hands on his knees at the end of regulation and was running on fumes in OT. Overall we're a resialiant team that can make corrections mid game but just need to find something that works in blending the run/pass game. I say against Iowa we start out passing then let the box open up to take advantage of getting those 5-7 yard runs. Was a great game that ended with a depleted freshman QB trying to force something...

Michigan with a freshman quarterback on the road against a rival equals for a very difficult game mentally but he did a great job of overcoming that adversity and making a comeback. Like a wise man once said, to little to late. Interceptions in OT almost always guarantee wins thats a fact.

We'll have to listen to Sparty bullshit for the next year. They'll say they're so much better, but I think we win this game 7 out of 10 times. They're still 2-3 and we're 4-1. I don't like to be 4-1 with a loss to MSU, but I'll take it. We could easily be 2-3 too.

You think they win that game 7 out of 10 times? Based on what? Statistically they're lucky to have gotten to OT... but the good news is that they're getting major contributions from true freshman, they were in the game without their best offensive lineman and their best running back was only on the field about half the time. The defense was on the field all day. Two that stood out: Kovacs and Graham. I thought Floyd played a pretty good game as well, but generally speaking the tackling is very, very bad. They gave up too many 3rd and forevers, and most importantly, they failed to do anything offensively for about 85% of the game. The only reason they were in that game is because Sparty is a bad team. A good team would have had that game put away by the end of the third quarter. But, tempered expectations. It's not easy to win conference games on the road with a freshman quarterback and a shaky defense.

The offence sucked for 3 quarters and the defence is the only reason we were in a position to win. Sparty played better and deserved to win. That said, it's nice to see that despite a poor game for the most part, we nearly pulled it out. This team is far better than last year and we may have gotten our hopes up with the 4-0 start. I said 8-4 as well after the WMU game and still think that's a reasonable target.

this team finds pride and heart no matter what the score is. The defense still sucks but you have to give them credit for how many times the last few weeks they have made teams kick feild goals instead of td's. All of our key young players are still growing and playing better and better. Even after 4-0 I still thought this is a 7-5 or 8-4 team, which we are. This season is just about watching the team grow, next year is when I will start to expect champinship play from our team.
