That Desmond autographed helmet would've looked nice in my room.

Although, it seems like Denard should have gotten an invite. After all, I thought the Heisman was awarded to the BEST college player, not the player with the best winning %. I have a hard time finding people who will debate that Denard is not one of the top three college football players in 2010. It's all a big nothing.
December 11th, 2010 at 8:39 PM ^
Agree Denard should have got invited, but Cam Newton is the clear winner. His states are pretty sick.

I wonder if Cam has a performance bonus is his contract for winning the Heisman.
December 11th, 2010 at 8:24 PM ^
Unfortunately I'm not there yet. :(

Good strat.

Sympathy points weren't the plan, but they worked (I guess). Thanks gents and ladies!
December 11th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
2011 a michigan player will be in NYC.
December 11th, 2010 at 9:28 PM ^
I hope it is for the Heisman ceremony and not for the Pinstripe Bowl.
December 11th, 2010 at 10:07 PM ^
I like how you didn't pencil Denard in but left the option open for any other M player who busts loose in our offense.
I don't like how you limited it to one player.
Denard, Shaw and Roundtree? Why not?
December 11th, 2010 at 10:42 PM ^
maybe even dee hart.

I find it slightly ironic that the 30-for-30 documentary "Pony Excess" about SMU's fall from football grace because of their payment of players is following the Heisman Trophy presentation to a player who in all likelihood will be stripped of said award at some point in the future because his family received payments.
December 11th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
am eager to see if voters actually left Cam off their ballots; if they did, if there were a decent amount of them, or if the whole thing is just media B.S. in a lame attempt at piquing people's interest.
December 11th, 2010 at 10:58 PM ^
Yeah, I was watching the same thing. Damn does it have to be frustrating for SMU to find out that if they'd just kept the students out of the loop, and left it between the school and the parents, and they could have been just as dominant all these years.
December 11th, 2010 at 8:41 PM ^
One of my favorite athlets of all time. Cam has it tonight...Where is are Charles Woodson? I wish more defensive player could be in the hunt. Just hasn't happened since CW.
December 11th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
To play the Lions tomorrow.
December 12th, 2010 at 2:31 AM ^
He will be good to go...I think he's only missed a game or two in something like 5 years? Dude is a champ...
December 11th, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
15 minutes from now the heisman voters are going to make a bad decision. With the overwhelmong evidence against Newton, the only people who would vote for him are cowards or too lazy too actually look into it. Something has to be done not just with Cam Newton, but with the whole Auburn team. If this situation is swept under the rug after the unrelenting investigation of UM that turned up little more than extra stretching time, I'll... well I won't do anything but I'll be real mad.
December 11th, 2010 at 8:56 PM ^
I think the difference is we initiated the investigation and publicly complied with NCAA investigation that followed. Auburn has been... suspiciously silent, to say the least.
December 11th, 2010 at 8:51 PM ^
finish second?

December 11th, 2010 at 8:52 PM ^
I'm wondering what he does in the next level. Is he Jamarcus Russell - highly touted out of college and having a forgettable career? Is he Michael Vick (without the felony), a force in the league who competes for the Pro Bowl? Or is he Vince Young, somewhere in the middle? I haven't paid attention to the draft "experts'" opinions on him.
I don't know the answer - my guess is that he'll be somewhere in the middle. I'll be interested to see how it plays out though.
December 11th, 2010 at 8:55 PM ^
It's Newton.
(No surprise, but now official.)

Why does it feel like there was not that much coverage this year. I felt like last year we had an entire week of Heisman related programming on ESPN.
December 11th, 2010 at 11:35 PM ^
Because even ESPN knows this is going to be a Reggie Bush situation.

It's impressive how people either just don't learn from the past, or are just too corrupt to do the right thing.

Nice speech Cam. WTF was that mess? Wow
December 11th, 2010 at 9:07 PM ^
He needed to pay for a speech writer cuz that one felt kinda blah.
December 11th, 2010 at 9:10 PM ^
Ramble Ramble Ramble. Thank You.
That was absurd. The idea of saying thank you just seemed awkward to him. Just eerie watching that speech.

"My parents do a lot behind the scenes."
They sure do, Cam.
December 11th, 2010 at 9:02 PM ^
Whatever, so nice it had to be said twice.
December 11th, 2010 at 9:02 PM ^
I can't believe he said that. It's like he's just playing a game to see what a blatant low-life he can be and still get away with it. This is pathetic, how in the world is he getting clean off the hook like this? Especially after the Bush debacle...unreal.
December 11th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
My parents do a lot of things behind the scenes that go unnoticed
December 11th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
I had a chuckle when Cam thanked his parents for all of their work "behind" the scene.

I watched as I always do but watching this year made me seriously envision Denard excepting the award. I think he has the character (we already know he has the talent and will get even better) that the Heisman needs right now after all of the black clouds that have been brought around the award. Here is to Denard getting 1 of the next 2 and hopefully being at both. Maybe he can pull an Archie. Anythings possible.
December 11th, 2010 at 9:30 PM ^
As of mid day Saturday afternoon the projected final votes had Denard in 6th, so I guess an invite would've been tough unless they included the WR from OK State.

he will be there.
December 11th, 2010 at 9:41 PM ^
Denard was tenth?? Just wow!
December 11th, 2010 at 9:52 PM ^
No matter what happens in the coaching search or desicion, Denard will be in the hunt next year. He will improve by leaps and bounds from this year to next ( and in the Bowl game bye rights), then the NFL talk will start.
December 11th, 2010 at 10:01 PM ^
I really, REALLY hope Oregon beats Auburn for the MNC just so that the NCAA won't have to vacate that as well in a couple of years.
December 11th, 2010 at 10:27 PM ^
I concur, where there's smoke there is fire. Cam Newton looks to be the second coming of Reggie Bush.
