Hearing Cameron Hunt Rumors point toward Michigan...
Does anybody have any new Intel on Cameron Hunt considering switching over from Cal? I know there has been some interest, however I'm hearing twitter is trending "to follow Cameron Hunt, Go Blue! etc..." I'm hearing it's coming from Patrick Kugler and Shane Morris pretty thick.
I wanted to throw it out there to see if somebody had more definitive information. I do not have twitter...
Go Blue!

You'd have to be pretty unreasonable to be upset at the coaches for adjusting their numbers based on the situation changing over the last 8-10 months. Lewan is as good as gone, so it would be as simple as explaning the extra guy is to replace him.

I generally like to imagine that the staff knows at least one thing that the bloggery does not.

It was more than Fox. A few of the current commits weren't happy at all at the original idea of taking a sixth OL. They've all calmed down now and it's a non-issue.

Probably because we now have an open starting OT position!

I think the possibility of Lewan leaving after this season were high going into the season, so I don't think that really has had an effect on their OL recruiting at all.

I agree that the possibility was high, but lots of things can happen between the beginning of the season and January. Lewan could have got in trouble, been injured, had a subpar season, etc. You can't totally count on a kid leaving early for the NFL Draft unless he expressly states that he'll leave no matter what. And I don't think interest in a sixth offensive lineman would be sparked by Fox's injury, because he would be likely to redshirt as a freshman, anyway.
I think an extra scholarship is popping up because Lewan is leaving, so now they're giving that to a lineman. It's not that they expect Hunt (or Samuelson) to fill Lewan's position; they just expect him to help fill an allotted number of scholarship slots.

From a recruit's perspective - most of them must expect to RS in 2013. Therefore, it's hard to see how a senior like Lewan would affect their decision significantly.
From the coach's perspective - Lewan had 1 eligibility year left and an OL recruit represents (probably) 5 eligibility years, so I think it's more likely that the decision to add a 6th lineman reflects a lack of faith in one of the underclassmen than it does anything with Lewan.

I'm not saying Lewan's presence would affect their decision. They couldn't possibly expect to start over him, and they probably expect to redshirt.
The point is that Michigan had, let's say, 24 scholarships to give if Lewan was expected back for 2013. Now that he's expected to leave, they have 25. They probably want 15-ish linemen at all times. Should they take another QB? That would upset Morris. Should they take another LB? That would upset Gedeon/McCray. Should they take another RB? That might upset Smith/Shallman/Green. Anytime you take another guy at any position, you run the risk of running off a guy who's already committed.
Michigan only has 7 returning scholarship linemen, plus the 5 currently committed guys. So we could have 12 scholarship linemen, or we could have 13. If the goal is 15, then I don't see how getting to 13 should cause a problem.

If he wants to stay in the Midwest, then I would think Michigan or ND is one number one choice. Moreover, if he has ND as his #1 school, then I think ND will make room for him.

I watched Hunt at the UA practice this week the kid is good. I can see UM using Hunt at center and moving Kugler back to OG where he was been playing all week.
