Did anyone else notice the running plays going to the side of the defensive line where a 4th defensive lineman would normally line up? Then, when Martin went out, the runs just kept going up the middle. Eesh..get well Mike. Get the playbook quickly Mr. Washington

Martin probably isn't worth 10 points week in and week out, but if he's in there I think we stuff that 4th and 1 at the end of the first half, and that's 7 points right there. I think he probably would have made a big play or two at some other points in the game to turn one of PSU's long TD drives into an FG or less, so in this case I suspect the difference between him and his backups was 11+ points.

Don't underestimate the importance of a dominant player on the DL. Without Martin, our DL goes from slightly above average to clearly below average and our run defense goes from mediocre to very weak. Of our other DL, only Van Bergen would probably start for an average team, and he wouldn't stand out. Roh would come in as a DE on passing downs. The other guys would be 2nd or 3rd string.

They converted, scored a TD. The ensuing kickoff was 1-touched OOB at the 2, we punt give them a short field and they score again before half. If we get the ball starting in the 20-30 yard line range, there is a decent chance we score to go up 17-14. At worst we win the field position game and they score at most once before half.

Three different guys had him for a loss and he squeezed by all of them.

but if he didn't heal up well enough during the bye week then I can't really see him getting any healthier during the rest of the season.  I would have to imagine a kid like Martin would be doing everything he can to play so his injury must be something a normal human would die from.

I know these kids try hard and for the most part it's not their fault they are even on the field.......most of them should be riding the bench and redshirting.

I hope all of you MI fans have a nice Nov/Dec, because I'm done watching for 2010.......I have season tickets, I live in Chicago and I won't be traveling back for IL or WI..........to see a team this unprepared against a goddamn walk-on QB making his first start is unacceptable.

You don't have to play like all-stars, just make a few tackles, that's all..........is it that hard? You would think some of these players would look "different" at this point in the year.........noone looks different, they all overcommit, can't tackle and play on their heels.

Goodbye 2010 college football season, it was entertaining for awhile, but it's time to get back to reality....................

it takes 11 players to make one functional unit.  Offense, it can take one or two players to make a functional unit.  Michigan does not have 11 players to make one functional unit.  They need help everywhere, bad.
