He runs! He throws! He recruits!

Looks like Denard is actually a triple threat, and I'm not talking about his punting. I wondered if Denard's breakout might be having any effect on Demetrius Hart, the 5-star #1 rated all-purpose back in the class of 2011, who was present at the UConn game. Apparently so: http://www.freep.com/article/20100914/SPORTS06/100913078/1356/sports/Or… The tastiest bit from the article: [Heading into this season, Hart expressed a desire to see the Wolverines show that they are on the rise. After wins over UConn and Notre Dame, Hart is impressed with their play, especially the dominant performances by quarterback Denard Robinson. The prospect of playing alongside Robinson has high appeal for Hart. "I feel I can come in and play right now in that offense with Denard, then it will be 'pick your poison,’ ” Hart said.] I wonder if there are other players in the class of 2011 who would like to play on the same team as the most electrifying player in the country? The coaching staff just picked up a trump card to use on the recruiting trail that is going to be pretty difficult to beat: "Son, there isn't a player in the country like Denard, and you could be sharing the backfield with him/catching passes from him/blocking for him, etc..." Any thoughts on how much this could hasten the end of the rebuilding period and the beginning of a long period of annual reloading? I'm still marveling at the impact that one player could have, not only on a team, but on a whole program...

But this should most definitely should not be in the diary section. And this was already posted a couple days ago under the Dee Hart update thread. Just try doing a quick search next time. No biggie, but the mods will and probably should move this to the board.

Denard will definitely help out in recruiting and it appears as if he already has with Dee Hart.  We already know that Ricardo Miller is recruiting hard for us, the more the better!!

Hart could also look at a situation where defenses are crashing down on the running back in the zone-read and taking them out and essentially eliminating their potential for production. I'm not sure he is entirely excited about the prospect of being a high-profile decoy a good portion of the time and a lead-blocker the rest of the time.

This is predicated on having the offense continuing with the exact same approach all year and relegating running back production to nothing, which I doubt happens.

My hope is that as Denard gets more comfortable with pass-reads that there is a whole other ball-of-wax to be unleashed upon our opponents, with the added dimension that once defenses have to be a bit more honest in stopping the pass, that the QB will run off a zone-read less and the running backs will start taking advantage of the increasingly open lanes to spring long gains.

Does anyone else find it hypocritcal to take advantage of the services provided by the Free Press (paying the reporter, getting the quotes, publishing the article) while refusing to give them any revenue by clicking on their pages?

If you want to take some moral high ground, that's fine but you can't have it both ways.
