Has anybody heard a rumor about Nuss going to UF, announcement tomorrow?

Submitted by white_pony_rocks on

I had a friend who lives outside of gainesville and who keeps his ears open for UF football news tell me that he heard nuss was going to be introduced as the new OC tomorrow.  Has anybody heard about this?

Really? I mean if true, he hasn't even been here for a full year and didn't really establish recruiting footprint in 2014. Hell, he probably didn't even install most of his offense this past season. I doubt there would be much intrigue 3 years from now if he does leave for UF.

Agreed. I didn't mean to imply he would take recruits down to UF. We only have 6 anyway. With his reputation as a developer of qbs and his time spent in the SEC, I was really looking forward to him establishing himself with the young talent we have. Although I don't think Devin progressed like we thought he would... Who knows?

Devin regressed

Shane regressed

Russ doesnt look like he could suit up for Miami OH

All this behind an OL who pass blocked better in 2014 than what Borges dealt with in 2013.  The offense was boring and sucky.  And the QBs horrid.  I am sure he is an adequate coach but he didnt get much out of this unit.  Hell Funchess regressed and our best RB would have never played if not for injuries to 3 others.

Why?

Did anyone really get emotionally attached to Nuss?  He was here for (not even) 1 year, and a year his unit failed miserably.  He barely played with the press outside of required duties and I follow UM football very closely and other than the general things that eveyrone else knows frorm his hiring I learrned almost nothing abuot Nuss all year - hence zero attachment.   Contrast to GMatt when he left to go to Notre Dame - yes that was moderately interesting.   This means little to me.

In a pool of 50 OCs he is not top 15 and not bottom 10  - he is mixed in with a whole bunch of people in that middle tier with nothing "outright" special about him.  Not an innovator of any sort.  The only thing I will really remember about him is celebrating a meaningless TD vs MSU as if we won the SB.

a HC in waiting. That his tenure at Michigan was just a temporary one while he was going to jump to a HC job in one or two (if we were lucky).

But. With all the current HC openings, he's still here. Waiting to interview for his current job. Not one team came after him. Just say'n.

Excluding Lane Kiffin, these are Alabama's last two Offensive Coordinators, both very familiar with Bama's one back power run system.  If true, I think this is a safer bet than waiting for Harbaugh, himself an offensive mind looking to install his own new, albeit similar offense.

I didn't hear that, but there have been quite a few Georgia bloggers who would really like Mark Richt to consider Nussmeier as an OC. No official word from anyone connected, but there is a very informal push from their blogsphere to at least consider the possibility. If he did end up at Florida, the McElwain-Nussmeier dynamic might be interesting at Florida - 2 former Alabama OCs getting one shot each year against their former HC.
