Hart, Terrance Taylor cut by Colts

Submitted by shorts on
I didn't see this posted anywhere with all the excitement surrounding today's win, but Mike Hart and Terrance Taylor were cut today. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts waived rookie defensive tackle Terrance Taylor and running back Mike Hart on Saturday. Taylor was a fourth-round pick in April. Hart, Michigan's career rushing leader, was a sixth-round pick in 2008.

Taylor will get signed somewhere. Hart it will be tougher for. There is not much of a market in the NFL for running backs his size unless they come equipped with a jet pack.

We always knew his size would be a hindrance; tough break. I hope someone takes a chance somewhere and really sees what he can do. Let's face it - there have been a lot worse cases out there where NFL teams have "taken a chance..." much to everyone else's chagrin. At least Hart's a solid guy and a good teammate.

I've believed that Hart always wanted to end up being a college coach, so I am sure he would find a way to make that happen. Or, failing that, become an associate Athletic Director in the mold of Jamie Morris, whose job title I believe is "Associate Athletic Director in charge of being Jamie Morris."

TT to the Pats is my guess...hes a good fit for their D and Bellichek would give him the discipline and structure that he needs...

The Colts are a good team - being cut as a rookie/2nd year player just means he can't crack the 2-deep of a top-10 team. I still think TT will be in the NFL by the end of year; Hart may have a harder time, though he could still have a chance on a team in need of a 3rd-down back. Still, wish them both the best.

I have always liked Hart for the way that he played. He always played for the team and nothing but the team. He ran his mouth a little more than I would have preffered but whatever. I just really think that there are not a lot of places in the NFL for a small running back that runs a 4.7 40.

From last year's D-Line, TT, Will Johnson and Tim Jamison all got cut. Making the NFL is tough, but it does suggest that maybe we weren't as loaded on the DL as we thought.

I've said all along that Hart wouldn't be a quality NFL running back. He's just not fast enough. He might catch on somewhere as a backup or practice squad player, but we shouldn't expect much more than that. I do think Taylor will latch on somewhere. There aren't many teams who need undersized nose tackles, though. He'll have to find a team that doesn't mind undersized defensive linemen or sign somewhere that suffers from injuries.
