Big Ten teams in the Harris Poll:
I'm just glad that we aren't ranked #18. I'm a very superstitious person when it comes to sports, and, as Tom Pickle mentioned earlier (http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/i-sure-hope-michigan-doesnt-move-18-ap-poll), teams ranked 18th haven't fared so well this year. Good to see this disaster avoided for now.
That's not supernatural, that's statistics.
If I wear my blue Hawaiian boxers for the last 4 games and we're 4-0, then that statistically shows a positive correlation between my superstitious boxers and winning.
(NOTE: Correlation does not prove causation, except in superstitions.)
We have the offense of a top 15 team and the defense of...well a not top anything team.
To be honest, I'm grateful to be ranked at all at this point.
Well, statistically, we have the offense of a top 30 team, and a defense of a top 90 team. However, we do have a top 10 Special Teams unit.
#16 scoring offense:
Things are ahead of schedule, but looking at the total package I don't think we are the 20th team in the country yet.
Whenever our first loss comes this year...at Iowa, or even as late as OSU, I would expect that we would fall lower than others in our range.
As we get more depth, continue to get the type of players we need and they learn the playbook and system we should have a nice long run in the Top 10 again.
I am happy that we won one more game this year than we did last year. I'm going to take this season one game at a time.
I completely agree with you. Everything after a W this next weekend and against Delaware State is just topping on the cake.
I agree completely, with one caveat.
I really, really, really hope we make a new year's day bowl or something close by. This past off season was WAY, WAY too long.
I figured the Harris Poll would at least have Iowa above PSU. And as for us at 20, I could care less. Ranking or not if we end up in a bowl game this year it's all good.
Especially early in the season, rankings don't mean much. If we end up ranked high at the end of the year, woo-hoo!
