BREAKING: Tim Hardaway Jr has decided to enter the 2013 NBA Draft.— Michigan Basketball (@umichbball) April 17, 2013
Hardaway declares for NBA Draft.
Its been real Timmy, it's been real.
I'll always have Tim in that small group of guys that brought Michigan basketball back. Best of luck THJ!
A great example of a Michigan Man.
Good luck in the NBA.
We've loved having you here. And you're way up there in the all-time career points for Michigan players. Here's hoping you make the first round.
I just hope McGary and GRIII stay. I wish THJ my best- as he was one of the key players that helped turn this team around. I hope he stays connected to the program, gets drafted, and does well in the pros. Thanks Tim!
Hope he gets drafted in the 1st round. He could be a great 6th man bench scorer.
You will be missed. 2 of 4 down. Will we lose more... I hope not...
He and Burke are the first guys in years who could say that...I wish him the best but wish he'd stayed.
Excellent point. That's awesome!
best of luck to him. i think he could have improved his stock next year as the alpha dog, but such is life. heres to hoping GR3 and McGary stay.
Great player and fun to watch while he was here. Best of luck at the next level!
Good for him, while it obviously sucks to lose players early it's great to see Michigan producing NBA talent. I hope Beilein and Co. use that hard on the recruiting trail. Timmy is one of the original players who were the building blocks that have elevated our program, I will miss him next year!
Well, if it helps....The kids and I ran into Spike at the Spring game and I asked if he was going pro. His response? "God, No." Good Luck to Tim!
In Spike we trust!!!
Kate Upton at the Spring game or did he go stag? If I was him, I would have gone solo. Kate's cute and all but if you're Spike, you need to play the field a little before being tied down in a boring relationship with a supermodel.
He was in section 41 with Caris and GRIII.
I will miss yelling at you not to shoot and then celebrating when you make it.
Disappointing for UM, but good luck Tim. You helped bring the program to a place where early departures aren't going to kill us
Good Luck, Timmy Jr.
But I has sad.
and Auburn Hills....
No cool gif/video, but we'll also have OSU this year, when he went all NBA jam from 3-point land and shot like a billion straight 3's
The Hardaway 3 point barrage on OSU:
He straight up flew on that 1st dunk. Eye level with the rim dude!
NBA likes that!
I mean, the whole good luck thing and thanks for the memories, and I really mean it and every thing, I really do, but I am not ready for this team to be history yet. I am afraid that was a domino that could not fall.
I'm going to miss scouring post game photo albums for pictures of you screaming. Go get it in the Association.
Is that GR3 and McGary would be drafted far ahead of Hardaway. Don't even want to think about that prospect.... Good Luck to Tim wherever he winds up.
GR3 being higher is kind of a head scratcher to me. He still hasn't shown that he can create for himself and others or play defense, both of which Hardaway can do. Mcgary I can kind of understand even if I would have probably laughed at the idea of him going pro a month ago. They draft big guys crazy high for no reason all the time.
I agree with your point regarding his defensive play. Offensively, however, I think a guy like GR3 really only has trouble creating at the college level because of the more cramped floor dimensions as opposed to those in the NBA.
Every top basketball program in the country losses players every year, I believe the coaching staff has done a fine job an next years team won't miss a beat. Thank you Tim
He obviously wasn't taking my bias into consideration.
Wow, Darth if you weren't so rude you would have seen that the earlier post was reported before Tim actually announced it....this is post Hardaway's actual words.
If you knew it and had a problem with it, then don't read it. It's easy.
With 5 seniors graduating, last years attrition, and Burke and Hardaway leaving, should I be worried about depth? Especially with McGary and Robinson being unknowns at this point and only 3 guys coming in.
Worst case scenario has only 5 guys who played any meaningful minutes last year. Hold me John Beilien and tell me it will be okay.
I wouldn't worry too much about depth right now. If McGary and Robinson both leave (which I don't think they will), UM still would have a solid 8 man rotation (Walton, Spike, LeVert, Stauskas, Irvin, Morgan, Horford, and Donnal/Bielfeldt). Most high-major programs do not have much more than a 7 or 8 man rotation, so I don't think depth should be a concern right now.
One of the WORST part of college basketball is the fact that the NBA lures kids into thinking of $$$ vs. working on their games. I hope I am wrong ... but to me he (like Morris and Manny) could have used another year of college ball.
Yes the NBA lured him away from Michigan, they had David Stern personally call him. I'm sure the NBA advised him that he would be a 2nd round pick with no guaranteed money. Its not about the money it is about a young man having a dream of playing in the NBA, its selfish to not let him live his dream
For his sake I hope this turns out to be a good decision and he has a long, succes sful run in the NBA.
I'll certainly miss seeing him in a Michigan uniform.
Best of Luck at the next level.
young man! Hope you find a team at the next level!
Represented the university with class and heart
Best wishes for his future career
any way we can offer tim hardway's hat a scholarship? by my math, he still has 4 years of eligibility left...
I question the Hat's defensive abilities.
Good luck I just hope Miami doesn't draft u.
It really has been an honor to watch Tim Hardaway Jr. play and develop as a player at Michigan these past three seasons. Like Burke, here we have another player who has left us a very long highlight reel of memories. Good luck in the NBA!
UMHoops mentioned that John Beilein and Tim Hardaway, Jr. were available to talk about the decision individually - those videos, as well as links to their related coverage, are here (LINK).
he has always been a baller.
he improved significantly over the last year in my opinion. he may have a pretty high ceiling.
i hope he keeps working and has a great NBA career.
bad move timmy... gonna be a mid 2nd rounder....couldve still been that next year, WITH a Michigan degree. perhaps the importance of that shouldve been stressed and capitalized, A MICHIGAN EDUCATION. Good luck tho, fun watchin ya play
but okst's marcus smart decided to stay. That means 2 things:
1. Burke is now likely to be the first PG off the board, probably landing him in the top 5 pending workouts
2. Oklahoma State just became one of the best teams in the country for next season
Thanks for bringing the first wave of national notoriety to what was an up and coming program when you committed.
I loved your offensive explosions I came to expect during your freshman year.
I loved the emotional leader you started to become your sophomore year.
I loved the emotional leader you became and the overall maturity you showed in your game your junior year.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the OSU game.
Your backcourt mate left and considering the relative weakness of this year's draft compared to next, it's just as well you went this year too. I hope that, like Darius, you end up playing for your hometown team (in your case Miami alongside one of the best in the game). It really is a shame the league frowns upon college seniors, assuming their game has some fatal flaw.
We are locked and loaded like a good program should be and the next wave of talent is ready to step in and attempt to fill your shoes. Come back and finish your degree when you are ready. I'm sure you'll be welcomed back with open arms.
"If Syracuse's zone was so unbeatable they'd be thirty-something and 0!".
Go Blue! and #hail
Happy for Tim, but sad to see him go.
Harris is officially coming back for State, ugh. If they don;t lose Payne, they are going to be tough to beat.
