Harbaugh Vs. Kiffin

Submitted by SevenMile on

Let's not pretend that Harbaugh is going to stay at Stanford for a significant period of time.....that guy is gone from Palo Alto to a powerhouse job the second he determines whether or not RichRod's job is solidified for 2011. He's gone from Stanford after next season, to a better program/the NFL or god forbid Michigan.

Knowing this...how great is next season's Stanford - USC game going to be!

If Kiffin thought he was all high and mighty with Rocky Top backing him, think about the shit he's gonna say in the next 12 months as the head coach of USC. He's got the biggest ego of any coach I've ever seen!

Harbaugh's got a little of that in him too, but his is a little more classy and calculated...oh yeah, he backs it up too!

Harbaugh Vs Kiffin is going to be a great game! It would make a great long term rivalry, but that's not gonna happen because Harbaugh's headed elsewhere in 12 months.

I got my money on Harbaugh

Who the hell would want to go play for a douchebag like Lane Kiffin?

If Baxter was pissed that Carroll left, he shouldnt want to even look at Kiffin.

Come to Ann Arbor Dillon!

It'll be hard for Baxter and Parker to ignore the likes of master recruiter Ed, defensive guru Monte, and offensive wizard Norm. I wouldn't be surprised if Prater and the other stellar USC recruits are breathing a sigh of relief. Not to mention the prospects that may follow Kiffin to USC; Corey Miller, Brandon Willis, etc.

Feel bad for the CA kid who enrolled early at Tenn. yesterday though.

I'm pumped about this matchup as well. Kiffin is sure to start barking, and Jim isn't the kind of guy who takes it. Urban didn't really say anything bad about Kiffin and just let it slide after the game ended, but I don't see Harbaugh doing the same. I can tell you for sure that the conversation won't be as civil as "WHATS YOUR DEAL" between these two guys. Looking forward to it.

I think highly of Harbaugh, but he certainly is neither the classiest nor the most calculating guy around. But he can back it up.

That sounds like a ton of fun on the surface.

However, (and I might be in the minority here,) I think that Kiffin's shit-talking was in large park just a calculated rah-rah act. It's my opinion that he can keep his mouth shut if need be, and I think that's what he'll do at USC.

Also, what makes you think that Harbaugh is waiting to observe RichRod before bouncing? Maybe he's eying the NFL? Or maybe he's legitimately happy at Stanford?

One of the guys on the radio here in LA has repeatedly put forth the theory that Harbaugh is going nowhere until Andrew Luck graduates because of their close relationship (Luck was a RS Freshman this year). Supposedly Harbaugh really enjoys it at Stanford and it feels like home. That may change if a real big money offer comes his way (I don't think the KU and light ND flirtations count), but I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay there a while longer.

I think Harbs is carving out a nice thing in Palo Alto and, assuming he continues to move towards a Pac10 title and beat teams like SC, he'll stay there for the foreseeable future.

He went to Palo Alto HS for a little bit, his dad coached at Stanford (for what it's worth) and he has 4 kids who have probably moved around enough already.
