Harbaugh Trolls SEC Just A Bit More

Jim Harbaugh walks downstairs to the Prattville Marriott lobby dressed in a nice suit — hours after a shirtless photo went viral — with his jacket lapel sticking up.

A coach approaches, fixes his collar and tells him he was the talk of the Paul Finebaum Show that day. Finebaum, whose show is nationally syndicated and televised on the SEC Network, discussed Harbaugh’s appearance in Alabama with his legions of dedicated callers.

Harbaugh looks confused and shakes his head. He doesn’t know who Paul Finebaum is.

The coach continues, “He’s a radio show host.”

Again, nothing from Harbaugh.

“He’s a big deal down here in SEC country,” another coach chimes in.

Harbaugh nods. He asks about what they discussed and quickly moves on to something else. If the most popular radio show host in SEC country is talking about him, he doesn’t seem to care.

Harbaugh literally does not have the time to know who Paul Finebaum is or care what he thinks. He has like 100 satellite camps to run instead

I've seen a few ESPN snippets from his show.  He is the definition of a self-righteous weenie. He's isn't in the Colin Cowherd mold, but more of that even tempered self-righteous feaux-intellectual type.  Pretty insufferable to be that way when you're biases are so evident.

How great would it be if this became a rallying cry in the next evolution of the Big Ten-SEC rivalry, though.

It's an interesting idea, but how many people - even in the South - could you get to earnestly rally around something like "Do it for Finebaum!" as a cry to victory? I am sure I would be shocked at the number, and I am also sure that the first time I heard such a phrase it would be met with a paroxysm of laughter.

As a big fan of college football, I have never heard of the Paul Finebaum Show either. I sort of listen to Sports Talk radio, but generally only when something major is going on.

Maybe it's because I'm in the North

I never heard of him until I bought my last car and it had XM for two years.  I used to listen to him from time to time when I still had it.  Imaginhe if Jerry Springer has a sports talk show.  He iften acts a a mild manner facilitator and lets the callers just remove all doubt about how dumb they are.  He trolls parts of his audience and they love him for it.

He also usually would readily admit his biases.

Was the incident of ESPN parting ways with Hank Williams Jr over his comments comparing President Obama with Hitler.

Charming fellow to say the least. Then ESPN hired him!? I guess ratings rule.

First time seeing this. Finebaum comes across as a complete douchebag who just sits there and belittles the rest of the discussion panel and acts as though he has superior knowledge on everything, ever. Definitely didn't have much respect for Paul Finebaum before seeing this-now I have zero respect for him. What an ass clown.

He just didn't give a damn. I spent 4 years at an SEC school and had never heard of Finebaum until the network deal with ESPN. Radio talk show hosts, of all stripes, are insufferable.

I don't know why people are shocked by this. He's a CFB only guy on ESPN who is generally just there to blow the SEC. I watch a lot of ESPN and I don't even see the guy that often.

I think Finebaum and his southern fans think he's as well recognized nationally as he is in Jackson, MS but the truth is most people don't care about Finebaum

This is true... But he isn't on ESPN, he makes one appearance on ESPN a week during College football season. The rest of the year he does not appear on the Network. He has a daily show on the SEC Network that is from 3-7. That's where Nick, TVH and many more have been invited to appear. The Michigan staff was also invited but the NCAA changed rules on satellite camps so he couldn't appear to talk about them.

BTW, you guys know he is on the side of the satellite camps. He has said the SEC needed to stop complaining over and over. That's part of why he has so many Big Ten people on air right now.
