Harbaugh on Tom Crean

Submitted by Hugh White on
Harbaugh on CSN SportsTalkLive was asked for whom he would root if Michigan were to meet Indiana in the B1G 10 basketball championship. Harbaugh hesitated, said that it would be great if that happens, but then reluctantly admitted that "family always comes first" and that he would root for Tom Crean and the Indiana Hoosiers. Don't neg me -- I'm just the messenger.

And it pissed off Pat Beilein too, iirc; he had a tweet, withdrawn, complaining about it. This is not a good look for our football coach. Better to keep his sentiments to himself, say something a little more politic like "I'd be very torn, etc."

Also, let's separate matters out--wanting to see your bro-in-law succeed is one thing; wanting to see him beat Michigan is another. If I'm Manuel I'm measuring my big boy pants and asking Jim to cool it on this one. A serious danger that, at some point, this explodes into public view in an unpleasant way.

At some point we will see who calls the shots in the AD.

I'm not a fan of Harbaugh's comment either, but it's not really that big of a deal that the AD needs to get involved. This was just an off-the-cuff response to a question intended to put him on the spot. And hasn't it already been reported that Manuel has spoken to Harbaugh about some of his tweets?  I do think that was appropriate--not to censor--but to point out that not every perceived attack requires a response.

Seriously? Harbaugh loves Michigan as much as anyone and that was evident when he left about 10 NFL job offers on the table to come back to Ann Arbor. How can anyone be mad at him for rooting for his own family. As much as I love UM I would fee the same exact way. Nothing wrong with that and people don't need to be so sensitive about it.

as bad as he is, he probably roots for us against State in football at least despite being Izzo's assistant. Those two are very close (Jim and Tom that is)

Michigan will never play Indiana in the B1G Tournament Championship because Indiana always flames out in it early. Every year, set your watch to it.

That's a joke.... idc if he's your blood brother. You don't openly admit you'd root for him. Just say that you'd be happy for whoever won. Idk. Just dumb. But it's just my opinion. If you don't like it, don't get all upset.

I mean... it's his brother in law.. in a game. In which he coaches for the other teams school. I have a problem with it. It's okay to have a problem with it. Doesn't mean I want us to set the guy on fire or fire him. But yes, I don't like it. But also, I'm over it.

Who cares. Harbaugh could have sex with my wife and I'd still be a big fan. Life's too short to care about shit like this. He's one of the greatest football coaches in the country and he's Michigan's, for a long time. Nothing else matters.

Makes sense. We all went to (or have always supported) M. If your sorta douchey brother in law, and father of your nephews coached for IU, you would probably root for them too.

But also fuck tom crean
