Seeing Brady's face, just pulls at the heart strings.

IMO, he was never really qualified for the job, but if there was ever one person you wanted so badly to learn on the fly and succeed it was that man.

I can't wait until we win a national championship and Hoke is invited back and he gets a standing ovation.

Nobody told him to hire his buds and keep the old heads at Michigan on the staff.

If he did was Harbaugh did, he's probably still coaching. Doesn't make him that much of a better coach, but we'd certainly have a better team.

Give me Nuss, Hecklinski, Mattison and Manning (as a LB coach)...the rest of that staff, I won't call it awful, but it was underwhelming to below average.

that this exact thing happened when Hoke took over. I think it was the same show, too. It was very awkward but RR said little & Hoke was very polite about it.

I remember that being very awkward, but handled as well as possible by both parties.  RichRod did get a bit passive aggressive when he asked Brady a question about if and how the upgraded facilities affected his recruiting.  I'm not entirely sure if he was expecting Brady to thank him for doing that or not.

I wouldn't at all be against bringing Hoke back as D-Line coach if he is available when Mattison decides it's time to test out his barcolounger.

(No sarcasm.  It was cool.)

I can't help but feel a little disappointed that our last two coaches have ended up in this role -- providing "color" commentary for recruiting and college football happenings for CBS Sports.  I mean, I can understand the reason why.  A coach needs to be available to fill this role (i.e., fired or retired, or both, like Mack Brown).  It's just, our last two coaches have filled it, right after being fired.  I wish it were somebody's else's fired coaches filling this role.

EDIT: UMxWolverines stated so simply what I was trying express, with his imbed below.  Groundhog's Day, indeed.

I saw it live, the whole back and forth about changing the look of the office, Harbaugh complimenting Hoke and his staff doing a great job at recruiting with those that were basically already committed. It was very classy from both ends, and I wouldn't have expected anything less. I think that just the fact that Harbaugh gave him all of the compliments goes a very long way towards the character of our current coach, and the the compliments given back from Hoke goes a logn way towards the character or our previous coach.

I agree with what Mr. Yost said, earlier, "if there was ever one person you wanted to badly to learn on the fly and succeed it was that man."

Couldn't agree more, Go Blue!

After watching BTN, Hoke is certainly better than many of the pundits and TV might be a good position for him (for now) until he decides what he wants to do.

It's nice that Harbaugh extended the direct credit and praise to Hoke in this exchange that Hoke really denied Rich Rod in the interview 4 years ago.

the respect shown by Jim Harbaugh toward the previous administration. The fact is this is a Michigan family and the coaching ties and roots here are deep, and we all know where Brady Hoke's heart lies. Truth is, he left this program in great condition for JH and if things had been different, we might be seeing an entirely different class of incoming student-athletes announcing today. But this is what it is. Nonetheless, Jim has been remarkably appreciative of Brady and his contributions to the program, and that is why I think that Greg Mattison agreed to stay on staff as well.

In a weird way, I was thinking they might be able to find a place for Brady at Michigan. But the change is too fresh for that right now, and, in fact, the school still owes him some salary. So he might as well take advantage of the situation. Again, though, a very professional and thoughtful response from our new coach.

Nice guy... decent DL coach, but as a HC did nothing to improve his own ability.  Perhaps it was laziness, perhaps it was insecurity...but this man was stuck in the past, and did nothing to innovate or improve his game.

Bill Belichick, for example is about 8 years older than Hoke, and will consider anything which improves his team's chances to win.  Hoke, on the other hand, did nothing to improve his team's chances to win.  This was his big failure as a HC.
