Harbaugh . . . really??

Submitted by Chi-Blue on

Looks like Hoke was for sure the right guy for the job as Harbaugh looked like a complete tool after the game.

When everyone was asking, "Which state was the better sport state, Michigan or Wisconsin?", I said Wisconsin every time. Not because of the teams, but because of the fans. Michigan sports fans as a whole are whiny, pathetic little D-bags. You guys are willing to turn on a former Michigan player, who has done nothing but be supportive of Michigan in the past, because he beat your team and celebrated afterwards? Wow. Someone in the NFL thread even criticized him because he celebrated after beating the Lions, "And the Lions aren't even that good." You guys even turn on your own teams in order to criticize someone who beat you.

If the Lions had won this game and Schwartz did the same thing, you guys would all be on here saying how much you love Schwartz because he's a fiery, passionate coach. And don't eqaute this to Hoke at all. We didn't not hire Harbuagh because of stuff like this, he passed on us, so stop bitching, grow a pair, and take a loss like a man.

And chill out with all of the "act like you've been there before" shit. He hasn't! This is his first season as an NFL coach, and this was a huge win on the road vs an undefeated team! You'd be excited too.

"Has only supported Michigan"...?

Pure, utter, horseshit nonsense. I'm not from Michigan, nor a Lions fan. But for you to say that shows you're completely clueless. Do you NOT remember when Harbaugh, in a completely self-aggrandizing moment, threw his alma mater under the bus? "Oh, here at Stanford, our guys have to have great academics. For example, when I was at Michigan, I wanted to major in history, but they wouldn't let me." Etc., etc. Fuck Harbaugh for that and that alone. And yes, he's a pompous ass.

For a primer on what I am talking about, see here: http://thosewhostaywillbechampions.blogspot.com/2007/05/jim-harbaughs-controversial-comments.html

He lost any affection I ever had for him with that move in 2007. And he was, typically, a douche today as well.

I've read plenty of your comments.  All you do is degrad the state of Michigan, and it's people.  I believe once you even said the only people that should not make fun of Jersey are Michigan people because the state is so horrible besides Ann Arbor.

Pretty ironic coming from someone named "MichiganMan."  If you hate the state and it's people so much, then why are you even here?

I'm getting a "Your submission has triggered the spam filter and will not be accepted." noticed, but just search for Jersey Shore.  It's in the thread titled:

OT: MSU fans are trashy Jersey Shore people EDITED

MichiganMan2424:  I'm from NJ It's not that great a place. Go ahead and bash. As long as you're not from Michigan. I love the university, but the state isn't the best of places.

Haha, not trying to call anyone out.  I'm just trying to understand why someone named "MichiganMan" talks smack about Michigan.  Seems like someone that hates the state and it's people so much wouldn't like to be called a "Michigan Man."

and you call michigan fans douchebags? Can you tell me another example ever of a coach jumping around like he has a broomstick shoved up his ass during the postgame handshake?  Harbaugh is a joke..and you can go fuck yourself. Coming around here whining about how whiny detroit fans are is retarded

Your quote  "You guys are willing to turn on a former Michigan player, who has done nothing but be supportive of Michigan in the past"

Unless you have been living in a cave the last 10 years how can you not know the JH has made some shitty comments about UofM's football players and academic stadards. You failed to make a single valid point in that pathetically ironic post..please GTFO

If you think Jim Harbaugh has done nothing but support Michigan in the past, you haven't been paying attention too closely.

Uh his statements about UM's academic standards in the past, his rejection of the school during the coaching search... etc. Obviously, you haven't been paying much attention either.  Harbaugh was acting like a classless fool, much more befitting MSU than a Michigan Man.

Are you blind MIchigan Man?? $10 says you didnt even watch the clip before you just shit out of your mouth. Seriously you are the only person to think that. He showed up JS on purpose to be a dick. JS has done the fist pump like right after we score a TD to win the game, not on the star in Dallas while shaking Jason Garretts had. JS was wrong to chase after him as well, grow a couple and go to the locker room. Nobody criticzes a coach for being excited about a win thats a dumbass thing to say. If Hoke would have done something similar to Brian Kelly after we beat ND he would also be wrong and toolish for that.

Somewhere in East Lansing there is another tool who totally agrees with your ideas on sportsmanship . . . Gholston. You need to change your name . . . NOW!

Yea, Harbaugh's always been supportive, like when he took shots at our admissions, right?

If you have principles, they should come before blindly supporting people who played football for your school who conduct themselves like jackasses.  If Harbaugh did that as the coach at Michigan or for the Lions or my son's team, I'd be equally as embarassed.

StMirhza

So when he publicly questioned Michigan's academic integrity, that was supportive? He turned his back on Michigan to score easy points with Stanford fans. Since it's obvious to everyone that you have no idea what you're talking about, you should probably just shut up.

I do think it would be pretty great to see how Harbaugh treats Dantonio if he were our coach. Not that Hoke taking the higher ground isn't the way to go.  It would just be entertaining.

If you don't see the difference in the two, maybe you are the tool.

Celebrating a big win and then seeking out the other coach for a handshake = classy.

Celebrating a big win and jumping up and down swearing during your handshake = jackass.

Lionsfan

October 16th, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^

Do we even know he swore at Schwartz? I mean all we're going is rumors right now, unless film comes out of the handshake I doubt we'll ever know the whole story. And I didn't realize classy was chasing after the other coach and trying to start a brawl.

Let's cut JH some slack here, it's his first year as any type of Coach in the NFL ever, he's taken a team that was supposed to be god-awful horrible and has them at 5-1 following a win over an unbeaten team at their place, which is getting a reputation as a tough place to play.

BigBlue02

October 16th, 2011 at 5:55 PM ^

If Jim Harbaugh had actually represented himself well after graduating Michigan, I am guessing people would cut him a little slack.  When you punch people, sound like a hypocrite when you call out your alma mater for doing something your own school does for its football players, and have prior problems with handshakes in your college coaching days, you aren't going to get a pass for acting like a jackass.

Boomer519

October 16th, 2011 at 6:12 PM ^

He fist pumps and hugs a few players near his sideline then calmly seeks out the other coach and shkes his hand. Harbaugh jumps up and down across the field pulling up his shirt and slaps JS hand ending it with a half slap half push in the back. Yeah huge diffrence in those two. Get real dude.

are supposed to be classy displays of sportsmanship where you shake hands and say "good game." Harbaugh came over running and hopping up and down like he had just won the super bowl and didn't have the decency to stop, shake Schwartz's hand and simply say "good game." Schwartz had every right to be upset especially if Harbaugh did greet him with an obsenity.  Harbaugh has always had a bad attitude and hasn't carried himself in a manner expected of a Michigan Man dating back to his fights with Ditka, punching a reporter in the face while with the Colts, and his comments about Michigan's academic standards while the coach of Stanford.  He is a great football coach, but for someone who says he idolizes Bo, he sure doesn't carry himself with the class of Bo.

I just want to chime in here.  Schwartz does the same stuff every game.  It looked like Schwartz didn't have a problem with what Harbaugh was doing until the handshake.  Wheather it was the handshake, or what Harbaugh said during the handshake, it obviously set Schwartz off.

I don't recall Schwartz ever getting into any verbal conforntations before.  I recall Harbaugh getting into it on the college level.

I'm not going to point fingers, but the video doesn't lie.  Ultimately, it's just two alpha males going at it, nothing more.

no it's one bush league asshole and one guy who wouldn't disrespect another teams coach like that after a loss.  also why so much love for harbaugh on here? yeah he's a great coach, yeah he was a hell of player during his time at michigan. do you guys forget the gutless garbage that came from his mouth after bo died? the spineless bastard didn't have the guts to say it when bo was alive. to paraphrase mike hart i wish he had never even played here.

michfan6060

October 16th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^

I just don't get how it's okay for Schwartz to run after him like a madman trying to start a brawl, but Harbaugh being a little too excited is despicable?

billybrown

October 16th, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^

point out a post where someone is condoning the reaction from schwartz? he shouldn't have reacted like that. no one is justifying his behavior. harbaugh was the catalyst for the situation though and as usual running his stupid mouth and being disrespectful.

Michael Scarn

You're the one focused on Schwartz.  Jim Schwartz never played at Michigan and was never considered for the HC job.  Harbaugh was.  This is a Michigan blog. If Harbaugh did this against the Bears, Packers or any other team in the NFL it'd be just as unacceptable.

I, for one, am thankful there's other Michigan fans who can step back and recognize that an alum is being a dick and not pretend like anyone who ever played football for us is immune from criticism.

I love how Hoke is doing, and happy he's here, but I can still dream about what would happen if Harbaugh had been our coach.

Anyways about this incident; we've had our Coach taunt other teams players (Dez Bryant), probably maybe yell "Learn the Fucking Rules!" at Minnesota, say "Fuck yeah" after a win, and we embraced it cause we loved his hard ass non conservative ways of doing stuff. Now something minor comes out of a game against us and we're all bitching and moaning. Does this make me mad? No not really, we weren't there to hear everything, and if Schwartz got pissed at him for being too excited then I'm disappointed in Schwartz. Forget it and move on, maybe 49's Lions becomes a Rivalry

Michael Scarn

I'm pretty sure the majority of people here aren't worried about Jim Schwartz, they're worried about how a Michigan alum conducts himself.  Being a dick when going to shake someone's hand after a game is pretty much the opposite of class.

Would we have been happy with the results on the field with Harbaugh as Michigan's HC? I'm sure.  That doesn't change the fact that he looks like a jackass off the field.
