Is Harbaugh planting seeds?
later the Clemson, Auburn and Tennessee jobs all came open, he'd be in one of those 3 places.
I think if Carr retired a year later, there'd be NO CHANCE that Rich would be our coach. Les Miles wouldn't have been put on the spot during the SEC game by Herbstreit and might have more chance to handle the situation out of the spotlight. OR, with another season to let his star shine, Harbaugh would've gotten a closer look.
Disagree on both counts. Les Miles isn't our coach because we didn't want him. (He and Lloyd aren't exactly best buds.) He tried to work the media to become a candidate. We did not contact him. Bill Martin wasn't "accidently" out of touch on that sailing trip. He knew perfectly well that LSU was calling Miles's bluff and putting the screws to him right then.
And Harbaugh went 5-7 in 2008 (on the heels of a 4-8 season in '07), so I doubt he'd have been in strong consideration then. Imagine the outcry if we'd hired a guy whose career record was 9-15.

Another day, another Harbaugh thread

I think I would be more in the corner of "live and let live" for this one.
Hilarious. I don't know about taking Stanford to the Nat'l Championship, but he definitely just took the Browns to the Super Bowl.

AWAITS!!!
I saw Jim Harbaugh take a 22 year old girl into the bathroom at S'keepers to "plant his seed" in May of 2001.
I'm not the only one who wants to hear more trashy stories about how Harbaugh was on campus
Hearing all this about Harbaugh makes me like Denard more and more. How lucky are we to have such an incredible player who is all about the team and shows zero selfishness or arrogance?
Leaders and Best
To answer the OP's question, I highly doubt Harbaugh's statement were meant to 'plant seeds' that he would be interested in the job. He wouldn't need to do that. Pretty sure Brandon knows who he is and how to get a hold of him. I'd be willing to be money that somewhere in the interview, the reporter asked him about the influence playing for Bo Schembechler had on his coaching career.
Now when is he going to stop lying to recruits, telling them that Stanford is different than a football factory like Michigan, where players aren't allowed to major in history?
I hope to god YES. I've never seen a UM offense like I have this year. I have my doubts whether Denard could have started over Tate if Jim Harbaugh were coach just b/c the scheme would be so different (just my humble opinion).
Yet, I love Harbaugh and the idea of him being the head coach. I believe he is doing something great in Stanford and if RR fails, he would love to coach here. I just feel like the team would be more balanced if he were here.
Of course, Oregon just put up 45 points on Stanford today, so....

Putting aside the fact that Harbaugh is a lying scumbag who isn't above trashing his alma mater to recruits, the guy is simply married to an outdated way of playing football. This is the best offense he'll probably ever have there. Luck may be the first QB drafted next year. His OL, backs, and receivers are all very good. And still, they looked like they were running in mud today compared to the Oregon offense (which has a new QB). Oregon seized control of the tempo, got Harbaugh's plodding team out of its comfort zone in the second half, and it turned into a rout.

But I'm pretty sure Denard would not be here if either of them were. Who knows though, Patterson might be here or Luck? And we might have a different hero to worship. I just think its way to speculative to compare personel/success here of coaches that might have been the coach.
