You might as well just go ahead and die then.

Studies show one of the most-shared traits of centenarians is that they haven't discussed or concerned themselves with phrases like "old", "middle-aged", "elderly", etc through life...apparently they just live with what they are absent definition.

The others were lack of envy, tight community bonds, and unfortunately I forget the fourth but it was not food or exercise related.

My underwear can now be offered by the University of Michigan.

I understand it has good knee bend and pad level for its age. Questions could be raised about its motor, as sputtering sounds are often emitted.

I don't mind this.  It sounds ridiculous but might as well get a jump on them as early as we can.  That way they have Michigan on their mind.

I don't know that this outweighs the huge uncertainty with projecting a kid that far out. Maybe it does for special cases, and probably somebody has data on this. But I'm skeptical of the ability of coaches to identify talent well that young. Talent is often totally misidentified even after four years of HS. Ideally, you wouldn't make offers on such poor data.

A quick Google search, however, reveals that he's actually a full year older than my son, so I don't feel so bad about him not yet having an offer from Coach Harbaugh.

Plus, I'm sure that my son will grow a full foot in the next year and become athletically gifted.

Everybody is doing this now. It's not dirty and you're not screwing anybody over doing it. You got to get a jump on the SEC somehow when you're not providing benefits. It's one of the reason that I think Beilein should start recruiting players this early instead of waiting until their sophomore year.

I hope the NCAA cracks down on this.  It's hard to imagine that it's good for a 13-year-old to believe that he's already guaranteed a scholarship in college..... not to mention to have to interact with college coaches and recruiting reporters.  There's no reason this couldn't wait at least until high school starts.

Plus, even if it isn't "dirty," I'm skeptical that the offers are sincere.  Coaches know they can just back off of a kid who doesn't develop as they hope.

Your last paragraph is pretty irrelevant. Coaches can back off of players at any time. Regardless of whether or not they offered in 8th grade or if they're offered the day before signing day. Hell, technically these coaches can back off of these kids after they commit. The coaches/school are not bound to a player simply by offering, or even by accepting his commitment. So who is to say that offering this kid is any more/less sincere than offering a 2016 kid?

Recruiting has turned into a whirlwind under Harbaugh. It probably as a lot to do with his gigantic supporting staff of people who I can't even name or count.

I am really amazed with the lack of momentum Michigan has with recruiting. Everyone is preaching patients but when you lose out on Johnson and Corley is saying he is barely talking to the staff these are not signs of momentum. Hell even Minnesota is having success right now.

Getting college attention at this age. I don't think I was even after girls attention at that age. Well at least girls who wanted a four year commitment.

That may not necessarily be a bad thing. Getting used to playing at that size would be beneficial if that is indeed where he stays. Hitting your growth spurt later can make it a little awkward and force you to learn a new position or lose athleticism late in the process. Something similar to compare would be starting out high school playing point guard and being pretty good, then all of a sudden you hit a growth spurt senior year and you're now in the PF/C range. Well it's pretty hard to be a 6'10" PG. But if you had hit that spurt your 8th grade/9th grade year, now you'd get to play that final position of PF/C throughout high school and prepare you for college. The same goes for football. Going from a CB/WR size and then hitting a growth spurt that turns you into more of a DE late in the process wouldn't be good.
