This is a guess based on what I've gleaned from people who have been in contact with such people, so via conversations mainly, but day-to-day operations, budget matters, coordinating camps and clinics and student housing and so forth, as well as supervisory duties over the football office staff and coordinating travel and team activities. So, they do quite a bit of the mundane but essential stuff, so I have gathered.

He can contribute if he understands both the big picture and attention to detail, which I'll presume he does; and he gets to interact with some pretty interesting folks and events up close.

I told my wife about this story - I'm a retired Army Colonel - and she immediately asked me if Michigan has other similar openings.  Now THAT is the Harbaugh difference!
