Harbaugh Meeting with #1 Overall 2016 Pro Style QB Jacob Eason
Harbaugh is everywhere. After visiting California yesterday it appears Jim made the trip up to Washington to begin laying the groundwork for a potential flip of GA commit Jacob Eason. Eason is the #1 pro style QB in 2016 per 247 Composite; GA changed OCs (Bobo left for CSU) so we'll see if that hurts their relationship. ND and Bama are other key suitors. Looks like Nuss had some contact on behalf of UM earlier so he should at least be vaguely familiar with UM. (Looks like Nuss offered last year, same month as Costello)
2016 should be very interesting.

As I can attest to, private planes certainly allow one to get a lot of business done in little time. Its great to see Jim knocking on all of these doors so quickly. Can't wait to see what he can do with a full recruiting cycle.

Haha. I didn't mean it that way. Sorry. Its just amazing how much time you pick up. Certainly no surprise Jim insisted on this based on his obsession with saving minutes on his wardrobe decisions.

Do you think Brady Hoke was flying coach?
January 27th, 2015 at 5:58 PM ^
I thought he was clapping coach. Also, pointing coach.

is a hidden gem
January 27th, 2015 at 6:24 PM ^
Brady drove a van that he kept down by the river.
January 27th, 2015 at 7:05 PM ^
You mean this van....
January 27th, 2015 at 7:43 PM ^
Yes.....because the mystery was the player development, headset, and his awareness of concussions.

Cheerleader Coach!

Former boss had a private jet that we used to take to meetings - it did save a lot of time but didn't stop him from being maybe the world's biggest douchebag
January 27th, 2015 at 6:54 PM ^
By "didn't stop him from being" did you mean to write, "encouraged him to be"?
January 27th, 2015 at 8:11 PM ^
ok, are people seriously downvoting this guy just because he happened to mention that he flies on private jets? who seriously cares? i don't fly on private jets, but found the statement completely innocuous. he's on mgoblog just like the rest of us posting about a college football team that we all irrationally obsess over. mgoblog is the great egalitarian cyber-enviroment of michigan fandom.

As I can attest to, the peanuts in coach are very tasty. Pretzels are a little dry, though.

as a former pilot, I couldn't stand having to deal with all the individual pieces of self-loading baggage.
January 28th, 2015 at 9:05 AM ^
Jim Harbaugh don't need no private plane. He's like an electron, he's everywhere at once.
January 27th, 2015 at 5:39 PM ^
Mcgits. This is exciting.

All your QBs belong to us! Let's get two more for the 2016 class!
January 27th, 2015 at 5:44 PM ^
We already have 1 as long as Jim is enamored with DeWeaver.
January 27th, 2015 at 5:56 PM ^
I saw they visited DeWeaver today so hopefully that is a good sign.

Jinxed it.

but not the former Patriots QB who was mauled by the 85' Bears. His dad did play for Notre Dame.
January 27th, 2015 at 5:56 PM ^
Those were some sweet Patriot unis back in Eason's day.
January 27th, 2015 at 5:43 PM ^
Oh yeah baby.
January 27th, 2015 at 5:46 PM ^
It will be interesting to hear the comments after. Eason seemed pretty firm to Georgia even after Bobo left.
January 27th, 2015 at 5:47 PM ^
Like I said, people shouldn't freak out about recruiting right now. Harbaugh will have top 5 classes every year at Michigan. Just look at his body of work at his other stops and that was before he could sell the NFL.

Can anyone post what a recruiting calendar looks like in terms of face to face periods?
I know Dec 15th to Jan 15th was a quiet period. Are there others? If so when. Because a lot of coaches are going to have to keep 1 eye open at all time in the coming years. (and yes even in quiet period you can still text/tweet/phone etc)
January 27th, 2015 at 6:25 PM ^
December 15th - January 15th are "dead periods"
December 14th is a "quiet period," where you can only talk to JUCO and already committed recruits I think.
January 27th, 2015 at 7:09 PM ^
Thanks Ken
January 27th, 2015 at 7:12 PM ^
No contact with recruits Feb 2-3? Wow that is surprising. So basically by Feb 1 you are done recruiting and then can just sit by the fax for 3 days? Weird.
January 27th, 2015 at 5:49 PM ^
This reminds me of the Hoke OL days when we were getting 5-6 OL a year which is starting to pay off.

Eason: Who's at Quarterback ?
Costello: That's right.
Eason: What's right ? Am I not at Quarterback ?
Costello: No, Who is.
Eason: Who ?
Costello: Right.
Eason: Dr. Who ?
Costello: No, just Who.
Eason: I don't know this Who person you are talking about, but who is his backup.
Costello: No, how can Who back himself up ?
Eason: Look you crazy Californian, I am the starter, and you are the backup.
Costello: We'll see about that.

According to the twitter replies, he's ALL DAWG. I'm not sure I would ever want to be ALL DAWG, for anything

Looks like Farrell talked to Eason early January and UM is in a top 3ish.
Farrell: Georgia just had an offensive coordinator leave for a head coaching job in Mike Bobo, whose been there a long time and done a great job with quarterbacks…how does that effect you? Do you look at this as something that was bound to happen eventually, some coach was going to leave?
Eason: Ya know, college football it kind of works like that, coaches are going to leave all the time, but I’m solid with Georgia and I’m sure Richt will get a great guy in there and if it comes down to it I still have a couple of options open, but I doubt that’ll happen and I’m staying with the Dawgs.
Farrell: What would those options be?
Eason: I’m keeping Florida and Michigan open and, obviously Georgia; those are kind of Top 3 right now.
Farrell: What about Harbaugh? I know he’s reaching out to 2015 kids, but being a west coast guy and seeing a hire like that—a guy that works with quarterbacks—does that tempt you at all to take a look?
Eason: I mean, that is a crazy opportunity with Harbaugh coming down from there and coaching at Michigan. Um, but you know I gotta good class coming in at Georgia and, ya know, there’s a lot going on with the Bulldogs too.
