Harbaugh Meeting with #1 Overall 2016 Pro Style QB Jacob Eason

Submitted by alum96 on

Harbaugh is everywhere.  After visiting California yesterday it appears Jim made the trip up to Washington to begin laying the groundwork for a potential flip of GA commit Jacob Eason.  Eason is the #1 pro style QB in 2016 per 247 Composite; GA changed OCs (Bobo left for CSU) so we'll see if that hurts their relationship.  ND and Bama are other key suitors.   Looks like Nuss had some contact on behalf of UM earlier so he should at least be vaguely familiar with UM.  (Looks like Nuss offered last year, same month as Costello)

2016 should be very interesting.

As I can attest to, private planes certainly allow one to get a lot of business done in little time. Its great to see Jim knocking on all of these doors so quickly. Can't wait to see what he can do with a full recruiting cycle.

ok, are people seriously downvoting this guy just because he happened to mention that he flies on private jets? who seriously cares? i don't fly on private jets, but found the statement completely innocuous. he's on mgoblog just like the rest of us posting about a college football team that we all irrationally obsess over. mgoblog is the great egalitarian cyber-enviroment of michigan fandom.

Like I said, people shouldn't freak out about recruiting right now. Harbaugh will have top 5 classes every year at Michigan. Just look at his body of work at his other stops and that was before he could sell the NFL.

Can anyone post what a recruiting calendar looks like in terms of face to face periods?

I know Dec 15th to Jan 15th was a quiet period.  Are there others?  If so when.  Because a lot of coaches are going to have to keep 1 eye open at all time in the coming years.  (and yes even in quiet period you can still text/tweet/phone etc)

Eason: Who's at Quarterback ?

Costello: That's right.

Eason: What's right ? Am I not at Quarterback ?

Costello: No, Who is.

Eason: Who ?

Costello: Right.

Eason: Dr. Who ?

Costello: No, just Who.

Eason: I don't know this Who person you are talking about, but who is his backup.

Costello: No, how can Who back himself up ?

Eason: Look you crazy Californian, I am the starter, and you are the backup.

Costello: We'll see about that.

Looks like Farrell talked to Eason early January and UM is in a top 3ish.

Farrell: Georgia just had an offensive coordinator leave for a head coaching job in Mike Bobo, whose been there a long time and done a great job with quarterbacks…how does that effect you? Do you look at this as something that was bound to happen eventually, some coach was going to leave?

Eason: Ya know, college football it kind of works like that, coaches are going to leave all the time, but I’m solid with Georgia and I’m sure Richt will get a great guy in there and if it comes down to it I still have a couple of options open, but I doubt that’ll happen and I’m staying with the Dawgs.

Farrell: What would those options be?

Eason: I’m keeping Florida and Michigan open and, obviously Georgia; those are kind of Top 3 right now.

Farrell: What about Harbaugh? I know he’s reaching out to 2015 kids, but being a west coast guy and seeing a hire like that—a guy that works with quarterbacks—does that tempt you at all to take a look?

Eason: I mean, that is a crazy opportunity with Harbaugh coming down from there and coaching at Michigan. Um, but you know I gotta good class coming in at Georgia and, ya know, there’s a lot going on with the Bulldogs too.
