Harbaugh has offered RRod recruit RB Orlando Bradford
Title says it all. Bradford is a 3 star RB from Louisiana who is considered one of the top sleepers in the South. Bradford's response: "Not so fast.... Michigan offering me today is truly a blessing but I will be attending the University of Arizona!! #BearDown". Would think there would be some higher profile RBs that would've gotten a look before him but his tape is really impressive.

Isn't it what midwives say to women who are delivering a baby?
That's the only context in which I've ever heard someone say "bear down."
Seems like an odd slogan for a football team.
January 28th, 2015 at 5:24 PM ^
Whoops-- I see below the slogan has an ancient and sad history.
I did not mean to make a joke at the expense of the deceased. Didn't know the history.
I maintain that aside from posts by the most erudite of MGo bloggers, I have never heard the phrase outside of the labor theater.

before RR became the coach. It's not RR's thing.
January 28th, 2015 at 4:03 PM ^
It's Arizona's equivalent of Go Blue. The origin is actually a really sad story...

Apparently, a player back in 1926 was mortally injured in a car accident returning home from an away game, and his final message to the coach was to tell the team to "bear down." That was the inspiration for the fight song and this phrase.

Makes me feel guilty for always thinking about pooping when I hear that phrase. From them or Chicago Bears fans.

a high school stadium?
/RR drinking early today. The Victors stuck in his head.
January 28th, 2015 at 4:44 PM ^
I caught a AZ vs UCLA game at that stadium about three years ago. Yeah it's pretty much a high school stadium. It's fine but it has no majesty to it. It doesn't give you the chills the way the Big House or a comparable college football mecca does. At least I got to see Nick Foles play.
January 28th, 2015 at 5:08 PM ^
The stadium isn't incredibly unique, but the upper deck is omitted from that picture (on both sides).
Look at http://alivecampus.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/ariz-stadium-08.jpg instead. Because so many of the games are night games, many get to see something truly beautiful: an Arizona sunset. The sky turns pink and the mountains purple.
The on-field product is often less beautiful, but I think that taking misinformed shots at their stadium (it's not like AZ is pretending to be something it isn't) is out of bounds.
January 28th, 2015 at 5:26 PM ^
the real problem with their stadium is that it's 125 degrees during the day, forcing them to play at night when all the east coast types have gone to bed.

It's actually not a bad stadium it holds 56k and can get loud.
January 28th, 2015 at 11:04 PM ^
... about half as loud as Michigan, perhaps?

Who dropped the ball and didn't incorporate the "A" logo into "Bear Down"?

#BearDown beats #TheVictors anyday, I mean look at these lyrics, much more original
Lyrics[edit]
Verse:
- Arizona, bear down!
- Let's cheer for Arizona,
- Let's raise our voices high!
- Let's cheer for Arizona,
- That bear down battle cry!
- Let's cheer our team to victory!
- Let's cheer our team to fame!
- Let's cheer for Arizona,
- For spirit wins the game!
Chorus:
- Bear down, Arizona!
- Bear down, red and blue!
- Bear down, Arizona!
- Hit 'em hard let 'em know who's who!
- Bear down, Arizona!
- Bear down, red and blue!
- Go, go, Wildcats go!
- Arizona, bear down!

When he can be a QB for RR? (I assume that he's going there to QB, because RR doesn't need guys to throw to the guys in the same jerseys, right?)
January 28th, 2015 at 4:19 PM ^
Denard threw for more yards as a sophomore in RR's O than in Hoke/Borges offense the following year. Zona threw for almost 4,000 yards last year with a RS freshman QB compared to us getting just over 2,000. Try doing some research or at least know what you're talking about before posting.
January 28th, 2015 at 4:22 PM ^
Wish him a medium amount of luck at Zona.

Who needs to go doing "research." This is the internet. Stats are just as relevant as people rambling about things that can't be changed (like RR not being given a chance)
I'm thrilled that Michigan has one of, if not THE best coach out there, who will put players in the best position to succeed.
Denard was a RB that threw the ball. I think he would be a better pro if that was identified years ago.
As for Arizona throwing for 4,000 yards... I don't care what they do. I'm just glad RR isn't in AA any longer.
