Harbaugh decision within 24-48 hours after season ending per Jay glazer

Interesting and somewhat makes sense if Harbaugh has made it known he wants to come to Michigan

So I assume this means good things for us? Or at the very least, less suitors to worry about? If this is true, it sounds like the only competition Michigan has for Harbaugh's services are the Raiders. It'll be awful difficult for any other team to fire their coach and come up with an offer in that 1-2 day timespan.

Unless of course, Harbaugh pulls a complete 180 on everyone and renews his contract with the 49ers.....

but I keep thinking that, too. SF (as stated by many) are absolutely idiotic to want to get rid of him. Like, actively want him gone. Maybe, just maybe, they realize this in all of the speculation? Maybe the owner will make changes in an effort to keep him? VERY UNLIKELY but it makes such little sense to want him out so badly that it could be a possibility. If Jim were somehow pleased enough with any potential change, I could see him staying. Again, at this point with all this smoke it's VERY UNLIKELY but I wouldn't say 0.00%.

Prepare for catastrophic meltdown if he chooses not to come. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Some need to stop hearing only what they want to hear.

I will say that it is good to see some of these potential avenues of "not Michigan" close up, no matter how unlikely they might have been. The other half of that, of course, is that I may need to take whatever form of stress leave is granted by this place if we are ultimately hiring Plan B. Well, that's my fear anyway.

effort by the Niners to see if Harbaugh has trade value.  One thing is sure Jim's tenure in SF is over one way or the other.

next Tuesday Jim become's a free man and I suspect many owners and GM's are lining up their pay packages right now.

Within 9 days we'll know where we stand with JIm and if we have shot at him.

The official news can't come soon enough. I'm way past the point of pathetically interested. Its annoying, I care way more than I should. Whatever. If he doesn't come I will be more sports pissed than any time I can remember. But if he does, I dare not even contemplate how fun the 4 weeks before NSD day will be. Then, I'll need to detox from the blog for a while.

OK, here's the latest.  BTW,

OK, here's the latest.  BTW, when i said Team ... I meant Hackett's team.   Hackett has a few folks in the AD's office working through the holidays (including Sat and Sunday), collecting info. and ready to respond with anything that comes up.

1)   They do NOT have word yet from Harbaugh's agent if he will come home.   They still are expecting word today on serious interest level (see my post from last week for more info.).   Again, if Harbaugh wants to entertain serious NFL offers before the Michigan decision then Hackett will look at plan Bs and start initial DIRECT discussions.

2)  NO DIRECT discussions have occurred with any plan Bs.   Hackett has been clear that NO direct discussions will occur until Harbaugh's decides on if he's going to consider NFL offers.

3)  The ceiling for Harbaugh is $53MM ... 48 and 5 (for the buyout) ... Hackett has the authority to move the 53 around any way he would like ... including bonuses for championships, etc.   Harbaugh's agent discussed more performance based $ vs. salary because it will provide a more palatable (sp?) story.   The example given to me ... $6MM per year, $1MM for academic results, up to $1MM for on the field results .... and possibly 3 year rolling longevity bonuses ... Dumbtonio / Izzo model.

4)  They believe that Harbaugh's agent has an understanding with the 49ers on the buyout.   The agent is saying that this will help speed up the process after his last game.  "Ready to Roll" as soon as the clock hits zero (referring to the last game).

5)  Hackett is running the show ... pure executive doing his thing.

6)  Tension is fairly high in the room ... it's a noticeable change from last week to this week.   Waiting on word today .... is a big deal.

7)  I asked him at the end of the discussion, "What do you think?"   His response ... "He comes home."

GO BLUE!!!
