Honk if Ufer M…

He has spent the rest of the show talking about it over and over again. Brunell came on and kissed Cowerd's ass and ragged on Jim saying it would hurt with recruits etc, including saying he has a 16 y/o son/prospect who he thought might wonder if he'd want to play for a guy like that, but then he said he would tell him yes, because he's a great coach and he's going to win.

Coward just said he's been asked by Sportscenter and 7 other shows to go on and talk about Harbaugh, but that he's too busy.

He said he tried to move off the topic a couple of times but that all the calls are about Harbaugh.

He asked his audience if they wanted it on his podcast and 640 said yes, 60 no.

He did say several good things about Harbaugh and Michigan early on when he was talking in the aftermath. But he's also saying this is a little glimpse into who he is and why a lot of people don't like him and why the 49'ers wanted to trade him to the Browns after he went to a Super Bowl.

Now he says we're not going to beat Utah... "you've gotta give these coaches a year" "remember Pete Carroll was 6-6 his first year, lost to Utah and gained 6 yards"

he answered the questions as asked.  Didn't go south until the last minute or so.  Colin really making a lot of of nothing.  He got me for those 5 minutes, but now back to not listening!

He got upset because CC was trying to bash the Big Ten, why do we care???  Screw CC, go JH for sticking up for the Big Ten....

Who cares what CC thinks, he was asking dumb questions and insulted his conference, Harbaugh doesnt neet to sell his program on a radio show....

Obviously a Michigan fan or I would not be on here.  I am also an ESPN radio fan.  I love Mike and Mike, I listen to Colin all the time, and I LOVED SVP Rusillo (now just Rusillo show).

I listen to these national stations because I like listening to something other than the homers that believe any and all BS that is spewed.  I like hearing something from all angles so I can make my own opinion, not simply be blinded by my love of Ann Arbor.

Saying all that, I do believe Harbaugh was a little classless on the show.  The beginning was fine.  Yes I think he answered a lot of the questions shortly and oddly, but everything was fine.  If you really listen to the interview it took the bad turn when Harbaugh misunderstood Colin's use of the word "BUY" when talking about how Colin wanted to "BUY" stock in the B10.  If you listen to Colin even randomly you would know that is a term Colin uses A LOT because thats the terminology he uses.  BUY/SELL, etc.  He was using that term to TALK UP the B10 and MICHIGAN!  Not bash them.  Harbaugh took it the wrong way and I can completely understand that being a problem.

This is where I get mad at Harbaugh though.  They resolved the confusion and both got on even ground around the "buy" "bye" question, but then Harbaugh simply checked out.  He could have simply answered "Michigan" when Colin asked "im a 4.3 star and want to come to Michigan, whats your pitch?"  Just say, "because we are Michigan, and we work hard"  DONE.  That's all he had to do.

I received a yahoo sports alert about this interview, bagging on Harbaugh for not wanting to be there. Who gives a shit about this? Its July 1, let's wait until football starts.

I thought the interview was fine up until the end. That's when it got a little off. JH was answering all his questions just not the way Colin wanted him to. I don't know how well these two know each other but if you're a head coach you are used to hundreds of interviews, and may not give in-depth answers to every question that's asked. And if I'm a HS recruit I'm not going to judge a coach that's recruiting me based off an interview he does that has nothing to do with my recruitment.

I also don't care about satellite camps, skins vs. shirts games, movie night in the Schem, minor violations, yelling, Deflategate, etc. I feel like the media, some fans and rivals keep trying make all of this stuff in to a thing. I don't understand. Harbaugh is hilarious. He should go choke Cowherd, put him in a sleeper hold. I still wouldn't care.

Is a top candidate for the #1 spot for a "people that should not be heard from" list. A guy I would be tempted to knock out if I ever saw.

The "buy" versus "bye" comment derailed the whole thing. Cowherd needed to word that differently because I that is how I interpreted it as well.

It's well-known that Collin dislikes Midwestern football and thinks it is inferior. He doesn't hide his agenda very well and Harbaugh doesn't take any shit.

And the whole I am a 4.3 wide receivers so sell Michigan to me comment?

Cowherd still thinks hey show is that important and that Harbaugh owed him something.

"Hey Jim I am giving you the chance to recruit live on my show!!!"

Wow, so glad I listened.  That wasn't bad at all.  Colin Cowherd is like the nerdy kid who tries to hang out with the cool guys and acts like he's BFF's with them if he talks to them for 2 minutes.  He constantly brags about being friends with certain coaches (none of the good ones).  He wants to be in sports but probably sucked and could never be a part of it but he thinks he matters now.  Cowherd wants to get into these overarching philosophies that Harbaugh and other coaches probably don't give a shit about but make for good sports talk radio.  Sports talk radio is horrible for the most part.  A lot of made up story lines and emphasizing shit that no one actually in sports cares about.  They have to fill the hours.  He says it was one of the worst interviews he's ever done.  I tried to find evidence of him interviewing some of the great coaches (Pop, Belichick, Saban, etc.) and I couldn't find those interviews.  Maybe I'm wrong.  I'm guessing a lot of coaches duck him.  Popovich wouldn't put up with that shit either but he's a great coach and everyone apparently likes him behind the scenes.

"That wasn't bad at all."

LOL. I respect Harbaugh, but your killing me. Dear god what is this world coming to. This just proves that some people will believe anything. Did you also donate $1,000 to the Nigerian prince who is trying to access his family fortune?

I guess he does interview Saban, Stoops, Sark, Urban and Calipari.  One thing all of those guys have in common is they were/would be failures in the pros.  College coaches have a more salesman/politician like personality.  Does he interview the Belichicks, Popovich's, Mike McCarthy's of the world?  I'd be interested to hear how those go.

If you listen to it again you can tell that Cowherd doesn't like Harbaugh since he is chummy with Pete Carroll and Urban.  When Harbaugh said "great to hear your voice" and Cowherd gave the sarcastic "thank you so much" it felt like when a chick on the Real Housewives being polite to her arch enemy.

"If I'm a recruit and I hear that, I'm signing with Meyer" - Cowherd.

Why the hell would he think anybody under 18 would spend their time listening to his show? Hell, I didn't start listening until I reached my mid-20's, got a 9-to-5, and life became significantly more boring...

I have had a career in radio.  This interview was awful...ly great!  I don't listen to radio when not working and thus don't listen to Cowherd.

This interview was hilarious!

Jim said nothing because the host asked him NOTHING.

The buy/bye misunderstanding was beautiful.  The opening "when are you not intense" was awful... not due to the "I don't know" answer, but because it is a nothing open.

In my expert-ish (and Michigan biased) opinion, Harbaugh didn't give a damn about this interview because he didn't respect the interviewer.  If he doesn't respect the question, he doesn't give it an answer worth more than the question.  Ask a stupid question, get a non answer.

Having not heard Cowherd's interviews before, I guarantee there is a big difference between coaches answering "When are you a cupcake?" to "What was it like winning that game?"  He didn't ask any really good questions.  Even decent.  These were from the "What color underwear do you buy most?" bin of questions.

I would be really interested in finding out what the pre-interview process was.  Why was he booked?  What did the producer do to prep the guest?  From the start it was obvious Harbaugh didn't want this interview.  From what I heard during and after I can't blame him.  Does anybody buy the repeated "I love the guy!" comments?

This ranks right up there with a show I used to run that was horrible.  Geraldo was being interviewed, and he answered the question, but the host didn't like the answer, so he re-asked it.  Geraldo answered in more detail, but was cut off by the host saying "You don't want to answer the question!"  Geraldo calmly said he had twice, but the host must not like his answer.  The host asked again.  Geraldo laughed while he said "It's obvious that you don't like my answer because you just keep asking the same question.  I think we're done here." and hung up.  The host then bragged for days how Geraldo couldn't handle his questions and hung up.

I am not a fan of how modern talk show people act like they don't have time for the interview.  I want you to come on my show so I can pepper you with questions and we only have 5 minutes and 30 seconds in this segment.

Why do the start with a question instead of  saying "Hello Jim" or just go into a question without allowing a response?  He was then surprised that he responded with a question like you would when you meet a person "How are you today?" Then asked a different question.  As a consumer, I have a longer attention span than they give me credit for and I want to hear a conversation.  Cowherd just peppered one unrelated question after another.  Is this what an interview is suppose to be like?  Not when you have an talk show that is suppose to be entertaining!

I think that was a big thing for Jim.  Why are acting like this?  Why do I have to put up with questions like this?  Jim even asked, "Are you trying to get in 50 questions during this interview?"

Collin was so set to prove that he is as intense as Jim that he screwed the whole thing up.  Just be a normal dude to Jim and he has shown in the past he can be a good interview.

Harbaugh demonstrating that Cowherd needs Harbaugh much, much more than Harbaugh shall ever need Cowherd. Trying to give Harbaugh a chance to sell Michigan to recruits? GMAFB! More like Cowherd trying to sell himself to ESPN. Harbaugh will be relevant to recruits for far, far longer than Cowherd will be relevant to radio.

...this was some devious pre-calculated genius move by Harbaugh to:

a) encourage negative publicity in a 'just spell my name right'  kind of way for giving the worst sports interview of the year

b) discourage the media from EVER doing a live interview with Jim Harbaugh, ever again

Face it, when you hear:
"...you really seem to be all in."
"...[pause]...[unenthusiastic tone of voice]... uh, yeah. I would agree. Can't disagree with that."

If that had been Brady Hoke or (even) Lloyd Carr giving answers like that , they would have been crucified.

that was a clunker of an interview. Colin bombed because JH is just a contrarian. JH doesn't like pithy, lazy questions; he doesn't like small talk. He is combative when a journalist pines for a specific line of answering. Colin has all of those traits. It's Harbaugh. He is not slick or congenial. It means little. A lot of recruits like his stubbornness - they perceive that JH won't buckle to "the man" - and that's their motto. Moving on to something worthwhile regarding Nike ...

Cowherd was not sincere if he really is offering an interview to 'get to know Jim Harbaugh'. Harbaugh is too straightforward to answer questions like 'when are you a cupcake' and whether or not the big ten is a 'buy'. Cowherd either intended for the call to go that way knowing what anyone in his business should know, or he's just an idiot.

Not sure why JH even went on this show.

That being said come September nobody is going to remember this or even care.  What matters is winning football games.

I believe JH is a savant and if he doesn't have time to develop radio schmoozing skills because he's too focused on dreaming, breathing and winning football games I'm good with that!

Anyway, nobody is perfect and we all deserve a mulligan or three in life.  Write this one off and move on to the next non-story to gimp us by until September!

It was obvious Harbaugh was toying with Cowherd and toward the end Colin realized he had been "had" and hung up. He then ranted for awhile because he knew he had been taken and embarrassed. I don't think Cowherd will ever be the same, his wings were clipped and a more savvy and experienced person. Just like Aaron Rogers clipped Cowherd's wings a few years ago. What goes around comes around.
