Harbaugh a candidate in South Bend - per ESPN

Submitted by turbo cool on
File this one under 'it would really suck'. A few years back I despised Harbaugh for his comments against UofM. I completely sided with Hart but since I have really appreciated how good of a coach Jim Harbaugh is. And if things get worse here and RR does indeed go I wouldn't mind seeing ole Jim at the healm (god if it were ever between him and Miles it shouldn't be close, though, that is not at all realistic). Anyway, in the ESPN front page article that reported Weis (one 'S') was fired they listed Harbaugh as a possible candidate for the position. Okay, this is ESPN whom we all know is, um, reliable, right. But still, Jim Harbaugh is probably the last person that I would want to see coaching in South Bend. thoughts?

Let's be honest. JH is going nowhere except the NFL or Michigan. If neither of those options come calling, he will stay in Palo Alto. His gig is to good over there. Could go 8-4 consistently with occasional better and worse seasons and keep his job for 20 years. He would leave if the right coaching gig in the NFL opened or if he was able to return home to AA. He would jump at the chance and I think most of us would be willing to forgive him for his comments. Heck, I did a little bit after he made them.

It would make it that much sweeter once the Michigan job opens up and he jumps to it. He'll never coach at ND, book it. That said, he'd be a lot better off in South Bend, where temptation in the form of nubile co-eds doesn't exist. Ohohohohoh, just remembered: about 2 months ago, I was on-site at a client's doing some work. A wonderful secretary, older woman, brought me some coffee and began asking some questions. She asked where I went to school and I said UM. She starts talking about how her niece went to school in Ann Arbor, how beautiful and intelligent and successful this woman is...and then she just goes into pure-fury mode. She starts angrily asking, who used to be the quarterback for UM? I pause, calculate ages, and say, are you talking about Jim Harbaugh? She calms down, takes a deep breath, looks me dead in the eye and says: "He is a no-good, two-timing piece of shit and I hope he rots in hell." She then just walks away and I'm left wondering, WTF. Hey, it's better to have them angry than indifferent.

...I have three comments: 1. Loved Keith Jackson calling him "Big Jim." 2. Wow, those Bo teams were Barwisized before Barwisizing. Really, they looked athletic. And Harbaugh would have thrived in the spread. What a talent. 3. That was as much of a highlight reel for Eric Kattus. Dude had a pulsing white light underneath him in '85.

Fuck. Harbaugh will be successful at any program that he goes to. He is that kind of guy, and that kind of coach. Dont believe me? Well...fuck...has the guy ever NOT been successful in his life? Track records my friend track records.

ND just got rid of one arrogant loud mouthed prick. I don't think they want another one (though I'd take Jim over Charlie any day of the week including that one day not included in a leap year). Jim can actually coach and has proven himself in the college ranks. He has done more with less unlike Charlie who only does less with more.

That statement could just as easily be an endorsement for Rich Rodriguez as it is for Jim Harbaugh. Ironic since it comes straight from TomHagan.
