Harbaugh and Durkin once babysat 2016 DE Recruit Connor Murphy

Submitted by The Mad Hatter on

Harbaugh and Durkin were on an official visit to recruit Connor's older brother Trent to Stanford in 2009.  The boys' mother went into labor and so Harbaugh and Durkin stayed behind to babysit while mom and dad went to the hospital.

They were there for several hours babysitting six kids, including then 8 year old Connor.  They played chess and drank milk.

Connor is now a 4* WDE.

I swear this story was on a recruiting roundup or UV a couple months ago. Either that or the fever currently kicking my ass is giving some weirdly mgoblog specific déjà vu.

It's not just you; I wondered about that, too. But, we're in a country where Web sites covering NBA drafts feel it necessary to list, for each prospect, height *and* height with shoes. Lots of people aren't good at math.

If you lose a pawn, you have to do ten pushups. Lose a rook, bishop, or knight, you do fifty pushups and 100 situps. Lose your queen and Jim gets to take a shot at your solar plexus while your mouth is full of milk. Lose any milk and he gets another swing.

What are the chances he ends up in this class, given how quickly we filled up already and other positions potentially being of higher emphasis (eg DT, TE)?

Still need a WDE though, that's an absolutely essential need.  X. Kelly and Daniel Joseph, then this kid.  Need to have multiple oars in the water.  I assume they'd take whoever's first.

But I'm still confused about the SDE, WDE, and Buck LB positions.  We'll have an SDE position, that seems clear.  Do the WDE and Buck stay on the field at the same time?  If Buck is essentially a SAM who can put his hand down, doesn't that fly in the face of the nickel defense Brian and Co. have been saying Durkin will run?  Nickel means Peppers as the fifth DB along with two safeties, which means two ILB's.  Is that WDE the Buck LB in that scenario?

How come we haven't (at least I haven't) heard much about him? I remember this story from a couple of months ago but that's it. According to 247, he's 50% to us.

Are we sure this isn't actually a scene from that Saved by the Bell episode Harbaugh was on? Harbaugh and Durkin have just put the kids down, and they're enjoying a pleasant game of chess and glasses of milk when...Screech shows up and all hell breaks loose!
