Happy New Year Thread

Submitted by alum96 on

While there are 9 hours to go in the Michigan time zone until 2015 some of us will begin to drop off as we prepare for a night of festivities (while checking our phones every few hours hour half-hour minutes for MOAR good news).  Our European Wolverines are just about to enter New Year in a few  hours and our Asian/Australian Wolverins are already there so Happy New Year to all.

2014 was a trying year on so many levels especially with football but the early departures in basketball esp Mitch being forced out of the NCAA, were a downer too.   But thinking back to where things stood on Oct 1 vs Jan 1 (well almost) it's an amazing 180 turn.   Confidence in Schlissel, Hackett - very high - we barely knew Schlissel Oct 1, and none of us knew Hackett.

Both our top revenue programs now are in the hands of builders.  We have become used to our basketball team growing as the season builds month by month.... it's been lacking in the football program.  No more.  Year over year Beilein jumps will be joined by Harbaugh leaps.  Two good men of high moral ground with top notch acumen.  They are winners in life and role models that their players will be talking about for decades after they graduate.

I dont follow all the sports like some of you guys but continued success to women's softball, let's see some more turnaround in hockey and good vibes to the rest of the sports as well.

Thanks Brian and staff for this place to gather thru good and bad times.  Ace wishing you best health in 2015 and ability to withstand the avalanche of typing of HELLO posts coming in next 5 weeks.

So difficult to pick a best photo of yesterday but as we move forward into 2015 with ridiculous momentum let's just use this one and say "WE ARE IN GOOD HANDS".

Nice post, OP.
I kept telling anyone who tried to console me throughout this past football season, "I'm going to remember how low this feels, because when this turns around, it's going to be that much more special."

Here's to The Turnaround. Happy New Year!

I am in Montreal about two hours away from celebrating my 5 year wedding anniversary to my fantastic wife and best friend Jill (the avatar) by renewing our wedding vows and then dinner at some French resturant and then watching fireworks at midnight from the roof of our hotel.

Happy new year to all my fellow MGoblogger friends!!!!!

I was hoping Jim would make mention of Beilein being a final 4 coach, and him wanting to make it two in the department (or three if you include Red. Any other coaches at UofM make it to the final 4 of their respective sport?). Going to the NFC championship game is the final 4 of the NFL, now it's time for Jim to get started on a college football final 4 appearance.

As my wife actually works tonight, there's not much going on here - making a lasagna so she can eat before she goes, but after she does, it will be me, the kids and football. The best part about it is that she only works a half shift tonight, so we can at least watch the ball drop together and then use champagne as a sedative like we usually do. It's all good because we'll have football tomorrow as well, and then so on throughout the weekend.

Outside the B1G title in basketball it was a tough as hell year for us Michigan folk. Personally I didn't have a fantastic year either. Here's to the end of a crappy year and raise a glass to 2015 being a very Blue (and Maize) New Year. All the best to all of you my fellow MGoBlogger friends.

Happy new year to everyone. Thanks to the people who run this site, as well as to the posters - we are indeed a fortunate group. I look forward to a prosperous 2015 full of joy and victories for us all. Wish you all could be here with us to see the last 2014 Key West sunset.
