This time next week, I'll be in the Metroplex ready to watch some Michigan football! Go Blue! Swilling some pale ale.
that is nice bonus change
this metroplex of which you speak, but by this time next week I will. I leave Thursday morning via beautiful I-65 through Memphis to Little Rock through the Southeast corner of Oklahoma (so I can say I have been there) and on to Dallas.
in the 90 degree heat, banging beers and alternating between fly patterns, curl-ins, and swimming with the boy.
Jeezus, I hope there are no expectations from the wife when she gets home.
Go Blue - can't wait.
I'm headed down to the tigers game now, so I'll be drinking some overly priced beer soon.
Do they still have those octane 80 blended drinks? Used to get those, bring some extra booze, and pour it in. Then get brain freeze for hours.
No idea. I'll keep an eye out for them.
Bare-bones minimun - it takes $40 to get drunk at Comerica. Whether it's 5 $8.00 Molsons, 6 $6.50 PBR's, or 8 $5.00 mixed drinks.
That's worrying. Well. Luckily my tolerance is shot to hell, as I haven't drank much at all this summer. So hopefully I can make due with like $30 worth.
drink fast, and wait to eat.
That's the plan. I skipped lunch and have knocked out my first two 24s before the game started. So I should be in good shape.
"mathermatical". Damn beer.
I'll spot you $20 if you run short.
im losing my mind, need more football
a mini chub when I read this title
Got a mix and match six pack of craft brews at my local store which includes dogfish head 90 min ipa, lagunitas Maximus ipa, stone ruination and great lakes brewing co. Lake Erie monster ipa and bells pale ale
As a resident of the People's Republic of Maryland, Dogfish 90 Minute has become my Hopslam substitute. Wish it came in 6-packs, though.
Have not decided what to imbibe yet; do not know dinner plans
Was on draft for DC beer week. Lethal stuff and max hops!
I agree, 120 IPA is delicious but lethal
How much was it?
My neighborhood beverage store (Perfect Pour in Elkridge) sold the 2011 batch from $10 a bottle...
Isn't it like 20% ABV? Probably hits like a jackhammer...
I have the tailgating equipment scattered throughout my living room right now. Ready to go baby!
2 more hours till I'm pounding back some Shiner Blonde and thinking this time next week will be down waiting for espn gameday to begin then tailgate till kickoff for best upset on opening weekend in years!!! GO BLUE!!
With dinner. Afterwards, going to flip between the Tigers and the 1st Quarter of preseason NFL games. Maybe tune in to the mlive livechat for Pioneer vs. De La Salle.
Go Shane and Go Blue
Wifey's having me try out some tailgate recipes tonight; buffalo chicken balls and bacon jalapeno poppers. Might need to find some oberon before I get in too deep.
Whens the last time we had a recipe thread?
I would post a link but I am on my phone. Google the bacon explosion.
but either of those would be great for an OP to mention in a new recipe thread.
Shots of Kah (Blanco ...the white skull) followed by Sam Adams - Summer Ale. Aaaahh!
Going to watch the team practice tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to that! The season is upon us and I'll drink to that!
And then some Hofbrauhaus Oktoberfest. Wonderful!
Lots and lots of Ichabod. Anyone else think fall beers are the best? Could just be the football setting but nothing beats them in my book.
Always look forward to the Oktoberfests. Can't wait to get to Arbor BC, grizzly Peak And Wolverine BC during Air Force week!
I'm sippin' on some Arctic Grape Bacardi + Diet Mountain Dew. Trust me, it's amazing.
sounds like a chick drink.
I moved a small TV out to the porch so I could watch the Tigers game outside while sipping on some Midas Touch - actually haven't had this one before, but it isn't bad really. If my last glass is any indication, it also serves for catching the odd mosquito.
I'm sort of in between going out and getting pants-shatting drunk or not doing anything. Nine times out of ten I'll go with the former.
My best friend's 30th birthday party was tonight, so THIS GUY is drunk on Sierra Nevada and sangria. But....... TIGERS WHY U NO WIN BEISBOL GAME
I've learned to cherish this time of year. Though it's in a way torturous anticipating the close-ness that football is, once the season starts it's such an up and down rollercoaster. The highs after winning are amazing, the lows after losing are unaturally depressing. Mondays after the weekends are back to torturous as more football is craved (no, MNF does not feed that appetite); even if it was a huge win, it's torture waiting another week and sometimes two weeks. And as much as I love Autumn, I'm a summer guy. I love the first part of the Fall but once it gets cold it means Winter is near (which is okay, I don't hate winters, but, you know) and that's a little disheartening. Late-summer baseball gets interesting and is a time when I head to some games; always great going to ballparks (following the Bravos in the Midwest somewhere). As a terrible segueway and odd transitional statement, I do know and realize the pre-season football shows and media presentations are terrible anymore.
But.. that month to one-week-away from football feeling at the end of summer is great time for me as I've gotten "older". It's a great time to sit back and realize life is good. I used to think and still do at times think, "life will be even better when football starts..", but the reflection period before and the climax of anticipation (am I writing for 50 Shades of Grey?) is a great time. Again, it's a good feeling realizing life is, just, good.
I'll drink to that! (Only the title that is)
Three Wiseman shot from my friends birthday... I may die tomorrow morning
