I'm drinking Diet Coke.
I wish I was drinking Mountain Dew.
I'm drinking Diet Coke.
I wish I was drinking Mountain Dew.
Is that the tranny from 'Always Sunny'?
will be drinking Guinness later. Slow day at work indeed...
Last weekend I got engaged in Ann Arbor, tomorrow I'm heading to Germany for work for the week.... so I'll be listening to the game via mgoblue.com.
Had a couple of Goose Island Green Lines last night, they were tasty.
where in Germany are you going?
I wish I was drinking Oberon and Landshark in July.
Was planning on watching Tiger and Rory go toe to toe again at the Honda this weekend. That is until Rory withdrew after going +7 through 8 holes(!) on day 2. Later released a statement that he was suffering from.......... a sore tooth? His game is a hot mess right now. He should have asked David Duval about the Nike curse. It is a real thing.
you can't go wishing your life away. I wish it was July 20 years ago.
Ahh.. the Arnold. I've bartended in Columbus for 8 years and Arnold weekend in Columbus is to any other weekend in Columbus as any other weekend in Columbus is to Ann Arbor on a Monday afternoon. The 2% on that weekend become the 98%. I doubt I'd take my wife anywhere in public for a week, unless I want to get my ass kicked being a smart ass to some dude who works out as many times a day as I shit. Love Joe Rogan, but he's going to be a meatball magnet this weekend. Good luck to you, sir.
The big plan for this weekend is, unfortunately, to sit down and actually do my taxes, or at least start them. I may also continue the ongoing mission of recaulking in some rooms and around some windows as we found a few minor drafts the other day - never again do I buy a 1960s ranch home. This is especially true when the "contractor" that owned the house before me nailed curtains to the walls and left me all the old asbestos tiles. I would not recommend this man for your remodeling needs.
The biggest event on the calendar is in fact the game on Sunday. It is the only thing on the list which I am certain to follow from start to finish.
As for drinking, gone are the days when you could walk into a supervisor's office and be offered a quick drop of something. My father has many such back-in-the-day stories from the floor of Detroit Diesel, however. I wish I could crack open a Guinness right now, but the Diet Coke and Asiago Roast Beef sandwich from Panera will have to do until 4 PM or so.
Muse Concert tomorrow - then kid time Sunday sharing the Game with my 7-year old son who is a diehard UM fan too. :)
I'll be at Muse and the game...both with my 11 year old son. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you...
A lot of beer tonight.
GO BLUE BEAT STATE
Go Spring Break as well.
I'm drinking Peach Tea Mio and writing a new logon script for my work PC's. Later I will be drinking Peach Mango Mio and I will not be writing logon scripts.
An IT guy that doesn't get along with the majority of people he meets??? Now I've seen EVERYTHING! (I'm a Cloverleaf Systems Analyst myself)
with cloverleaf, I',m, ASSuiming its some kind of Health Care database type thing?
Healthcare interface system that uses HL7 (among other standards) to pass patient data between different systems. The cool thing is that I live in Columbus, but HL7 is based out of none other than Ann Arbor, Michigan. So I still feel like I'm tied in up there, in some abstract sense.
pos to make it a POSBANG; so let's all take one for the team and bang the pos out of each other.
Drinking water, which pairs quite nicely with a bland day at at the office. I wish I was drinking something with Captain with it, but that will have to wait until 430 or so. Dinner with friends tomorrow, a haircut, and the game on Sunday pretty much encompasses my weekend.
Just drinking water for now, but I'm stopping by Alesmith on the way home to get a couple growlers filled. Speedway Stout and a yet-to-be-decided beer.
Birthday dinner for the GF tonight, followed tomorrow by a potential tour of the part of a specific house named after a color that is named after a direction with appendages.
of time to get!
I still don't get it.
Direction: West (or East)
Specific House: The _______ House
/As an engineer I read engineer
Are a Champion of the West (Wing) (!)
I'm an engineer. The organization of words and even possibly the letters was most likely sub-par.
I was expecting something much more dirty.
Still drinking my tears.
I'm going to be drinking Jameson; I wish I was drinking more Jameson.
Drinking water right now, but later I'll be drinking some Bud Black Crown. Haven't decided if I like it yet, so I'm going to keep testing it.
Sunday afternoon was going to be blocked off for the big game, but had an unexpected change of plans. Got a free ticket to the Honda Classic on Sunday, so I'll be doing that instead.
Not to be a dick, but if you want to drink a good beer, drink a good beer, not some slight upgrade to Bud.
All beer is good.
I'm not even going to try to argue with that.
I just question why pay more for Black Crown when you can get a 6 pack of Fat Tire or something for essentially the same price.
I love Fat Tire. I also love Bud, and Bud Select, and Shock Top. And Guiness. And Labatts. And lots of other imports. Black Crown is a good beer, high alcohol content and some good character to it. If its the same price, I say they're very comparable. I just think Bud and its products get a bad rep because people fancy themselves as beer snobs who are above drinking it because its massed produced. Its very good for what it offers, an American style lager. It doesn't pretend to be something it isn't.
/off soap box
All beer is good to me!
Sorry, I'm not trying to rag on people's beer taste. Everyone has their own preferences. It's just that personally, I don't understand the appeal of middle of the road beers. If I'm looking to consume en masse, good ole' Natty Light will do the trick. If I'm looking to enjoy the beer, then there are plenty of great craft brews I can find for ~$8 a six pack.
but for me, the variation of my beer tastes is depending on my mood and what the scene is. Like I said, a good ol' American style ale with a burger does the trick. For me, a cold Bud is an event, best enjoyed with a glass and some Stevie Ray Vaughn playing. I like craft beers to have one or two, that's fine. I guess it just depends on where I am and what I'm doing. If I'm drinking for effect, then Bud Select is my choice. Higher alchohol content and less calories than Bud Light, believe it or not. At 44 yrs old, I have to stay aware of such things.
I understand where you're coming from. I enjoy hoppier beers like Sierra Nevada pale ale. I enjoy Flat Tire. But I'm also going to be doing some cooking with the beer, and my conscience felt better using Black Crown.
Plus it was on sale...
"Plus it was on sale..."
And now it all makes sense!
When I can go to my local Kroger and pick up 6 bottles of Fat Tire for $1 each PLEASE make sure that information is passed along immediately.
I was at the St Louis brewery a couple weeks ago and tried some of the Black Crown straight from the source, and it was pretty good. Stronger than the average AB product, hoppier. I like it. The new Shock Top apple wheat is really good, too. Not a cider, its a wheat beer with some great flavor.
How was the brewery tour there? I've never been on a big brewer's tour. I've been blessed to live in Milwaukee for some time and do craft brewery tours there. Never made it to Miller though. My favorite is the Milwaukee Brewing Company. $7 gets you a tour, a pint glass, and all the beer you can drink! And it's really good beer too!
and I've done all of them. The free tour is nice, only an hour and you get two free beers at the end. The beer master tour ($25) is 2.5 hrs long, you get to see a lot more of the brewery and its inner workings and you get to taste some beer straight from the finishing tanks. It is glorious. They also allow you to "sample" some beers before and after the tour which ends up being a bit more than you would get from the free tour. They also have a beer tasting school, 45 min ($10) and it talks more in depth of how the beer is made, the ingredients, the process, what type of glass is better with what types of beer, food pairings, etc. Informative and you get a couple freebies at the end, too.
Has had a lot of suckitude. Blew my Oscar pool for the first time ever, got nailed by the snowstorm, haven't slept much shoveling and clearing and pushing back up bush and tree parts late and early, thought things were going to relax and then got hit with PSU. Hopefully after having celebrated my anniversary for the microsecond between11:59:59 and 12:00:01 it'll be a more fun weekend. Though much like LSA I was at least going to organize all my tax info, but that might be delayed by sawing up whatever tree-like substances I couldn't get to bounce back to life. Then hoping Sunday at 4 pm doesn't start the cycle anew.
Drinking? Uhm, water from the watercooler? Wishing I was drinking? Grain alcohol.
"Blew my Oscar pool for the first time ever, got nailed by the snowstorm"
In some circles, this could be a good weekend, depending...
Alternating water and coffee until 5 PM. Then I have a fridge full of Dale's Pale Ale and Lagunitas Sucks waiting for me at home.
Drinking a Coke Wishing for a Bud
My first posbang. I feel so... so... so... dirty! (tee hee)
The wife and I are heading down to Ft. Collins tomorrow for the day. We're going to buy new hiking boots at REI, and then visit some taprooms of the excellent breweries in town.
Live in Denver?
Going to start drinking at Harry's in a couple of hours for After School Club. Catching up on laundry, avoiding homework.
shower tiles - heaven help me
I'm finishing packing up to start driving down to Florida for my final UofM spring break with 13 friends. Could not be more excited.
I hope you make many bad decisions!
14 college kids in Florida for spring break? We will obviously make no bad decisions.
Will move to harder drinks later in the day.
Plans for the weekend. Tonight I'll be at the Wheat in Allen Park for a little reunion with the old hockey team. Tomorrow I am undecided, but will likely end up at the Old Shillelagh. Sunday is my day of rest, when I reflect about God and how he should make my hangover go away.
...from Founders and then heading up to Perrin Brewing Company over here on the west side in GR...I highly recommed both breweries to any of you who will be in the GR area in the future
Headed to A2 right now for hockey game tonight. There's still a chance of making the tourney, however small.
I have a funeral tonight. When I get home, I have Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred waiting for me. FML.
It's straight water right now, which is funny cuz in the fridge at work there happens to be like 3 cases of beer left over from a company function last week. Of course no one's drinking it.
Tonight, though, it will be Brooklyn dark ale. The wife and I like to have a beer or two as we put away laundry. It makes the children so much more tolerable! Yes, friday night is laundry night at my place, pretty exciting, I know.
I honestly don't know whether I'm going to watch the game on sunday or not. Not sure I want to put myself through that. It's already giving me a bad feeling.
At least I will have more edits to go through on my novel to keep me occupied. :)
I have has a bottle of whisky under my desk since the office Christmas party because no one knows what to do with it.
I'm currently drinking water but that isn't doing anything for me. I think I'm going to pick up a Sam Adams variety pack that I saw at Costco earlier this week - an IPA collection, and enjoy some of those while watching the game Sunday from the comfort of my couch. Not really any other good weekend plans.
Have a good weekend all!
The official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby!
The wife and I visited the distillery a couple years ago and got a personalized etched bottle with our names and the date we visited on it. It was a really cool tour, I highly recommend it.
I love that stuff.
Going to see Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite tomorrow then M v Sparty Sunday. Probably stick with beer. Maybe a few Guini
I'm going to catch M Hockey vs. Ferris St. on Saturday. Hopefully, Michigan can pick up two more wins this weekend and sneak into the 8th place slot and a first round home series for the CCHA tourney.
...and no, not too many rocks, I promise.
I've got some in my cabinet that (for some unknown reason) hasn't been touched in awhile.
I went cross county skiing on my lunch break for the first time today.... I've been staring out the office window all winter long at this giant prairie, so I don't know what took me so long. Didn't think about work for a second that I was out there...
Drinking water. Girlfriend is going out of town for the weekend so I'm going to get caught up on stuff around the house. I've got alot of grunting, crotch scratching, and boxers only wearing to do. Tonight I'll probably be drinking blue light while eating pizza straight from the box using my shirt as a napkin.
Posbang!! I got accepted to Michigan today!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the happiest days of my life! Honey Jack later tonight
Have fun on campus!
A huge congratulations to you!!! But since this borders on a drinking thread I would encourage you to refine your palate over time @ U-M...a suggestion on a really nice whiskey would be the Jameson 12 year special reserve....after all this is definitely a time to treat yourself
Disclaimer-I'm sure that you are oddly over 21 and just now being accepted to U-M
He definitely left out the grad school part.
Enjoy it. It's not just an amazing four years but a fraternity that lasts for life (as you can see on this board)
Water in the afternoon
Yuengling Lager tonight
Love yuengling. Wish I could get it more often. Needs to make its way to michigan.
Was a pleasant surprise to see it in Tampa this year
On the rocks and let the ice melt for about 2 minutes
Sitting here at work, drinking a large Coke from Chick-fil-A. Debating whether I should try to go to bed a little early tonight or stay up late playing Battlefield 3 again. You know, because the End Game DLC is coming out in a week or so. Anyone else gaming on PS3? If so, I have a new screenname and I'd love to add you. I think I already have Moleskyn but I don't think he knows its me . . .
Retired, so my day consisted of a 18 mile walk, a little grocery shopping and lunch (celery and peanut butter) ...will munch until coctail time and then have several Captain Morgan 100 straight over ice until I figure out what's for dinner.
Took a half day from work because...well work's not fun. Cleaning out the pantry with a ketel one and soda right now. Garage cleaning and oil change tomorrow. Taking the wife to see Darius Rucker on sunday. It was her valentines gift, but I shamefully admit that I really like his music.
Does anyone drink Chimay? I've always thought it was pretty darn good beer. Pretty darn expensive, but pretty darn good too.
I like blue better than red, find it has a greater depth of flavor and is richer. Ever since about 4 years ago however, I've not had much taste for it, after a round of bar golf where (8th hole) we had to finish a 750 in 15 minutes...
Chimay is excellent. But so are the other trappist ales. There are only 8 trappist breweries, with 6 being brewed in Belgium. Chimay is the easiest to find in the states. Blue is my favorite but the lighter in color white label (it is a tripel) is a wonderful change of pace. If you want a delicious, but heavy, beer try St Bernardus Abt 12.
The plan for the weekend is brewery tour, BBQ, & German beer hall. As for today/night, probably the beer I brewed (I'm still a newbie so not holding my breath for a masterpiece)
Gave up alcohol for Lent, Friday's after a long week are the worst. Guess Coke-Cola and some fish and chips will have to do the trick.
Have been working like a friggin' dog for the past month preping for yesterday's mediation in a $2.4M joint venture dispute and finally, at 10:30 pm, last night we resolved the case.
My brain is total mush - it's been so nice to just peruse the blog and other interweb sites for mindless entertainment.
As for what I'll be drinking this weekend, I don't know. Perhaps a Bell's Oarsman Ale.
That's a good, albeit very different tasting, beer. I would suggest Dogfish Head Festina Peche as well. Also a Berliner Weisse.
It's refreshing b/c of the citrus flavors but not too bitter like a Miller Lite or Summer Shandy.
Plus, as a current resident of Columbus, I always try to buy Michigan products.
Yeah I like those a lot in the summer. The sour flavor comes from the yeast. Usuallly a Lactobacillus strain (same stuff in yogurt). Funky, sour, flavorful without being too fruity or syrupy-sweet
Congrats! Thats my favorite (except the opposite) thing about being a litigation lawyer. SO much time and energy goes into preparation for trial, arbitration, mediation, whatever and all the while everyone knows theres a 99.9% chance its going to settle. Its so stupid, when you sit back and think about it. No offense to you intended, of course.
Yeah, this settlement was bittersweet because we had (and this is total dorky lawyer talk) all of these secret nucleral bomb filings we were ready to deploy and now we don't get to use any of them. But whatever, wifey is prego and I feel bad about being so preoccupied with this case lately so it will be very nice to just be home.
I'll be at the State game on Sunday watching this team preserve its home stand this season.
I'm going to pick up my girlfriend at the airport soon. Won't be drinking until after dinner. I'll just be watching the game from the comfort of my enormous couch. Happy Friday everyone!
Heading to AA after work to drink that limited Stone release at Ashley's. I can't remember the name but it's something like Enjoy By 4/01/13.
After that heading down to Jolly Pumpkin. My buddy was there last night and said Madrugada is on tap. Probably one of my favorite Stouts. One of the most unique, that's for sure.
Finally, swing by Plum Market and see what type of bottles I can find. They usually have a killer selection of Jolly Pumpkin 750's and a lot cheaper than at JP too.
My usual. Getting ready to say farewell to the CCHA this weekend.
Drake Harris plans to enroll early!
Don't let the scars of the fight about "inside" info sway you...it's a slow day and I think it's post worthy if you've got an article to link to.
EDIT: Now my post looks silly since you changed yours. O well, this post has showed me how much more I want to talk about beer than sports right now...I think I'm gonna have to find a beer blog...
Yeah, I didn't want to sound like I was offended by anyone or upset over it. Thanks for the advice, I doubt I'll start threads for a while. All I was trying to do is share some info with everyone. I didn't mean any harm by it. But seriously, thanks! I appreciate it and I'm sorry I edited it and made you look bad! haha
Ice water for now. Bar-hopping downtown Rochester later. Wife thought it would be a good idea tonight to go out with her friend who will be on a blind date. I feel badly for the guy, but not as bad as I do for myself.
And working on my new website. Parallax scrolling is where it's at, kids!
I've been drinking coffee all morning/afternoon and about to start squeezing some limes for a margarita get-together tonight. Will probably bust out the Glenlivet 15 eventually.
long time reader taking the plunge into the boards for the first time.
Have a variety of beers in the fridge, random 1s and 2s from various sixers from a party a couple months ago that have to get finished off this weekend, will down them while watching the UM game Sunday.
Currently driving through the worst state ever. It smell funny.
Also driving through Ohio, en route to Ann Arbor.
Leaving Work, Bitches!!!
Nasty head cold.
I was told I should drink Bourbon..... well..... not exactly. I just wasn't told not to.
I will be going down to Crisler for the State game on Sunday. Have been resting up my vocals all week!
Every Friday morning at the office my buddy and I bump "No Tears" from Office Space real loud.
Left work early to head up to Philly to see some fiends for the weekend. Currently pregaming the bus with a flying dog ipa at the union station pizza UNO. Classy, I know
Drinking Evan Almightly by Blue Mountain Brewery.
In a dirty glass.
Here is a picture of Lennay Kekua then..........
while surfing MGoBlog, looking forward to the game this weekend. Hoping for death to the sparty.
Working all weekend, drinking coffee.
Wish I was drinking some Makers Mark.
Glenmorangie on the rocks. Usually a Bourbon drinker, but I've been dabbilng with Scotch lately.
Just got to Jolly Pumpkin. Madrugada is flowing.
Drinking Jolly Pumpkin in Brooklyn. From my home street to my new home street. Always makes a bad day better to see Dexter in NYC.
Monster energy (green) to keep myself awake at work. Then moving home to Windsor area from Toronto... Back home is nice but not being 6 hours away from Ann Arbor is nicer!!!
