and speaking with him on a couple of different occasions.  There can be no better example of a knowledgeable, caring and gracious person than he is.  Happy Birthday Coach, and may God bless you with many more.

and I bet he could still do a great job of coaching.  Happy Birthday to Coach Hanlon, one of the finest assistants we've ever had at Michigan!

One day when I was about four or five, my dad had to stop at the Athletic Department to pick up something and took me along. We're standing there in the lobby, and here comes Coach Hanlon and a couple other coaches. My dad says hi, and Hanlon leans down, gets right in my face, introduces himself, and makes me promise to work hard so I can play for Michigan. Hell of a guy.

whenever I hear this man speak it's like listening to Bo.  Of cours they both came from the same area in OH and that infuences his inflection greatly.  Just a bonus for us from a man that came in with the legend and certainly did his share to help the great one obtain that status.

I see him at every game I go to. Every. single. one.

Even fan day!

Like a good luck charm.

...during my stint at the Schembechler Wolverine camp, summer of '76 before my senior year in HS. But, how good of a coach could he have been when he couldn't even coach up a 6'2"/205lb OT to Big Ten caliber?

About the only things I remember from that camp (aside from Bo's end of the day pep talks, of course) was Jerry jumping into the drills with us to demonstrate technique, hitting us harder (without pads, of course) than anyone else at camp would, and being a great, enthusiastic, larger than life guy, even with a motley group of high schoolers. Hell of a coach, hell of a Michigan Man.
