Hakeem Flowers as a prospect

Submitted by Dreisbach1817 on

It seems like Michigan coaches are beginning to focus a lot of attention on Flowers, the WR from South Carolina.  Hakeem looks like an intriguing prospect with outstanding size and athletic ability.  And I think we are making a very solid push for him.

One interesting note that stands out for Hakeem is the contrast between his so-called "ratings" by Rivals/Scout and his offers.  Rivals has him as the #75 WR (3*) while Scout has him as the #109 WR (3*).

Meanwhile, his offer list is off the chart.  They include offers from Oregon, Auburn, FSU, UM (YTM), ND, Okla, Okla St., UCLA, Tenn and many more.  He has taken only 2 officials -- us and Oregon this passed weekend (I'm not sure if he actually went).

Now, I'm not the kind of person who lives and dies by the rankings.  But there seems to be a huge disparity here.  Is Hakeem the example of a player who accumulated a ton of high-profile offers before his JR year and then had a good but not great JR and SR year?

I would be curious to hear from someone who has watched his game film and might provide a good scouting report on Hakeem as a prospect.  Again, he seems like a good kid with great upside and a potential deep threat with this offense.

this happens w/ a few prospects each year.  it's been my experience that in these cases the offers are more revealing than the rankings.  not to belittle the rankings.  they are usually pretty on target.

1)Google image search,

2)Adobe Photoshop,

3)Adobe Illustrator, and

4)Just barely enough knowledge of the above three to get myself into and somewhat out of trouble.  Six Zero, monuMental or any of a hundred other people on this blog could make the concept look SO MUCH better, but...I'm happy with how it turned out.

So...I guess if you're curious about my unskilled trial and error, you can get ahold of me at sgtwolve at the domain of sgtwolverine dot com.

Does it make you feel like a real recruiting analyst because you have a Scout and or Rivals account?

Do you think that by watching a video on your Rivals and or Scout account that you could tell me if Hakeem Flowers is "quick" or "slow" in your estimation?

I take your advice because you may or may not have assistant coached special teams on the local .500 junior high school football team last season. It's important to me that my advice come from an expert.

I'll hang up and listen.

I don't think that's the case here.  My guess is while look looking at his offer list that many of those schools offered him but very few of them actually kept on recruiting him.  Just like Michigan has cooled on many offered prospects and didn't recruit them, it appears that many of those schools have done the same here.  The mods over at rivals have said much of the same thing.  Look at his list of schools he's considering at the top and then look at the list of schools that he has offers from but isn't interested in.  They don't add up.
