Haha/Hart question

Submitted by MacombBLUE on

For Tom VH or anybody in the know...

Obviously good news from the interview with Dee Hart's mom, but I was wondering if anybody had insight as to whether that was just "after-glow" talk or telling what Michigan people might want to hear, which sometimes happens with recruits?

Not saying I don't believe her, but trying to get a gauge on where we stand. The caveat, is Haha seems very convinced that they will be playing together at Alabama based on his latest comments.

I also found it interesting that she said he'll be deciding within the month. I was under the impression his recruitment would last into the season.

Any insight? Thanks.

If they were some sort of package deal, I think they would have committed at the same time. Nobody knows what the situation is, and it kind of depends on what happened with the meeting today. Hart has always maintained that he would commit before the season.

Stay Tuned.

When you bring your mother with you it means you are very serious about going to school. To me it sounds like they are going about his recruitment in the right manner. In the end it will be his decision but he goes nowhere without his mother's blessing first. Also if their is a player that could influence Hart's decision it's Ricardo Miller not Dix. Anyway we will get your answer soon.

Ok, don't know why I thought he would wait. I' probably had him mixed with the numerous recruits who are taking the "wait and see" approach with us.

Good point about if them being a package deal, he would of committed with Haha.

I'm just leery with Haha being very confident and Hart's relatively recent questions with us.

But again, his mom's quotes sound promising.

On that note, it has been very quiet on "the meeting" details. Don't know how to take that.

...seemed genuinely impressed and at least diplomatic. What it probably comes down to is her level of confidence that Michigan's NCAA violations won't be repeated (and won't affect Dee) and the perceived longevity of RR as head coach. On the other side of the coin, she has to weigh the strength of Michigan's academics vis-a-vis the other teams they're considering. No contest there.

I think how the team does this season is very important along with the investigation. If we are doing well then we will probably stay on his radar. If at the end of the season, RR can get an extension, then we should be in good shape, but this is just my opinion.

I wonder if this will play into the decision making? Michigan certainly has some depth at the running back but Alabama has the following:

Trent Richardson (So.) *****
Eddie Lacy (RFr.) ****
Terry Grant (Sr.) ****
Demetrius Goode (Jr.) ****
Jeramie Griffin (Jr.) ***
Corey Grant (Tf.) ****
Jalston Fowler (Tf.) ****

With all but Terry Grant remaining on campus (unless they get a Saban medical disposition...) things are looking at bit crowded at Alabama at present. One would think that, aside from the academics and relationship with Ricardo Miller that this might play into the decision making.

makes me believe that she wouldn't blow smoke up anyone's ass. She came up her open minded and walked away impressed with the University, Rodriquez and the program that he runs. Just be happy that Michigan is in her good graces so that we might have a chance at signing her son.

Things do seem to be looking up again for us getting Hart. Mom being there, the mutual interest for so long, the family/friend connection.

I'm just trying to take the "not getting too optimistic" route. And for some reason, Haha's comments are gnawing at me. Maybe it's just hot-air, but it seems like a "I know something you don't" type of deal.

I guess this is as good a place as any to wonder aloud why we haven't heard about any commitments this weekend. I was vaguely hopeful we would get more than Beyer.

Sam Webb gave a pretty positive report of Hart's visit on today's recruiting roundup at WTKA. Said that Hart plans to be back next month for the Barbeque at the Big House and his father will be accompanying him on that trip.

I don't believe that they were being less than truthful about their love for Michigan, but Haha is hell bent on having Dee go to Alabama with him, so it will be an anxious wait. His two best friends, Ricardo vs. Haha in a recruiting battle. Place your bets.

Clinton-Dix is going to be a damn good college player. I'm disappointed that he's going to Alabama, but oh well. Hart sounds like a kid who's able to make up his own mind, though. I wouldn't be surprised to see him pick Michigan or even break free from all his teammate influences and head to Auburn.

I don't know if you can read the thoughts of Demetrius Hart's mom or not...

but I have a young cousin who is really interested in this kid named Austin. Can you tell me if Austin likes her as much as she likes him??

Thanks, that'd be great.

If anyone has a rivals account, check out the front page. There is a very encouraging article stating to watch for the BBQ at the Big House and that Hart will be making a huge decision.

Don't know how much you can go copy-and-pasting things, but for those without a rivals account, it sounds like a done deal; he's going to (officially) commit the day of said BBQ. I'm guessing Ricardo put the screws on him big time during his visit.
