Doesn't help when they have the biggest gong show in the league on their team

Kevin Porter went to Michigan too.
As did Chris Tamer.
Anyone else?

A Hagelin/Geno/Kessel line would be the fastest line in the league.

Short term deal for the Penguins. Perron's contract expires at the end of the year. Hagelin's 4 million dollar hit will make the Penguins bad cap situation even worse.

Plus Dupuis retiring opened up almost 4 mil in cap space as well.

You missed the point. Perron expires at the end of the year. As much as I like Hagelin he is not worth 4 million, especially considering the days of the massive increases to the cap appear to be over because of ther Canadian dollar. Also Perron was not making more than Hagelin is.
The savings from Dupuis retiring will be eaten up entirely by the extension that Maata is do.
