Hackett expects apparel deal to be #1 in the nation

Decision coming by July 1st. Will meet with the Regents to bring them up to speed on things.

He was at the Softball celebration today at Alumni Field. Was an awesome event.

Methinks that doesn't sound so good for Nike unless they got smart and realized Michigan is Michigan.

"We need to make a decision by July 1 in order to be ready a year from now, including contiuing with adidas because if we continue with adidas there will be alterations and things we're going to do."

That doesn't sound like they're staying with Adidas to me. It sounds like Hackett slipped up and tried to back pedal by saying that Adidas is still an option. I'm most likely wrong though.

I guess - if we're going to talk about what Nike can do - that my thought on that is that if they can shovel money at individuals in the professional ranks then there isn't theoretically much stopping them from doing so in the collegiate ranks (to teams, of course). I don't doubt that Nike is having discussions about it if they want the contract, but it would be a major departure from their apparent strategy.

This makes me so sad.

The leaders and best should not have an alliance with utter crap. (Adidas)

At this point I would be thrilled with UA. Nike is first choice in an ideal world but the most important thing is anything but Adidas and it looks like a switch won't be happening. :(

I sure hope Nike comes to the table from a selfish standpoint, because I like their gear the best and would love to be able to get it in UMich colors again. UA and Adidas both have some things that are nice (UA Performance T's, Cold Gear; Adidas...? Can't think of anything, but honestly I'm sure they have something I like). However, I almost always like Nike's offering as much or more...and when it comes to footwear, it's not even negotiable, as I won't wear anything except Nike period. Back when Nike had UMich, I could always find gear in the right shade of blue/maize. Now Nike doesn't have anything, so I'm stuck with black/gray for everything...and I mean everything. Man it would be nice to add some maize and blue back in.

Why all the but hurt of jerseys?? The money gives opportunity for the University and Football team to offer more than other schools. It's a piece of clothing. Plain and simple.

Go with Adidas.  Pocket the extra $$.  Design all unis in AA to our specs, not Adidas' specs.

(though, as a fat guy, I love the way that Adidas shirts are always loose fitting).

Here's what I want to see:

1) Tone down the yellow.

2) NO alternate football jeresys.

3) Make this the official Men's BBall uniform:

4) Remove the damn piping from the FB white uniforms.

5) A litte quality control (no more tearing jerseys).

I am pretty sure that any company who does this will probably be liked by about %80 of fans.

I agree.

However the problem with Adidas, and this is what really makes me hate them is they plaster their dumb three stripes over everything, MULTIPLE places.

In most of the Adidas Michigan apparel, there are more Adidas logos than Michigan logos.

Just looking at it, a lot of people would notice it's an Adidas item before noticing it's a michigan item.

I have a jacket that has an Adidas logo on the chest and the three stripes on both arms.

It says michigan across the back, and has a block m on the chest opposite the Adidas logo. So from the front, you see a small block m, an Adidas logo, and 3 stripes on both arms.

It's more so an Adidas jacket than a michigan jacket. All I their gear is like this and that's what I hate. It's not that I dot like Adidas Michigan gear so much as that Adidas doesn't actually michigan gear - they make Adidas gear that incidentally happens to have a block m or two on it for every three instances of their own stupid logo.
