"Michigan interim athletic director Jim Hackett wasn't sure what to expect when he went into the search to replace Brady Hoke.

But in just a week, one where he said he's been working hard, he's seen the results.

"The interest has blown me away," he told the Free Press at tonight's Michigan Football Bust at the Laurel Manor in Livonia.

Pressed for more details, Hackett gave a wry smile, refusing to divulge his recent travel plans."

I LOL everytime idiots like Sean Baligian (who's pushing the Gruden story) or Jeff Moss (who's behind the Sean Payton nonsense) assert they know something insidery, when the fact is they don't know dick.

Here's the thing.

We are currently doing a coaching search where Jim Harbaugh is possible candidate 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E, and 1F. He cant be hired for another three weeks(unless he gets fired, which doesn't seem very likely). I'm glad that sports talk is focusing on complete nonsense, because Harbaugh is obviously the only one we are going after, and he will eventually become the hire.

My dad lived with Trgovac back in the day, so at the very least it would be cool to personally know a coach, especially head coach.

Was it any coincidence that Jeff Long (who began his career in athletics administration at an institution located in Ann Arbor and currently serves as Athletic Director at Arkansas and Chair of the College Football Playoff Committee) was wearing a blue suit and a maize tie when he was interviewed on ESPN on December 7 about the teams selected for the College Football Playoff?

Was he sending a secret message to Jim Hackett?  Testing to see how that color combination works when he's being interviewed on ESPN?  Paying tribute to the man who hired him to work at Michigan -- Bo Schembechler?

Will that spark rumors that Jeff Long and Bret Bielema have a secret deal to sign as the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics and the J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach after Arkansas and Texas renew their old Southwest Conference rivalry on December 29 in the AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl (with the winner getting the Richard M. Nixon Memorial Plaque to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the 1969 "national championship" game?)

Yep. And Alabama put their big boy pants after Shula, Dubose, etc. and decided enough of this shit and added Saban to bring them back to where they needed to be. That's where our attitude needs to be. If we decide to hire another Dubose in Schiano then we will go 7-5/8-4 every year. Harbaugh is our Saban. Miles is our well Miles. Can't get either then go after Pinkel, Mora, Mullen or others in this tier. You're not going to blow through 20 of these guys without getting a yes especially if you pay top dollar. Schiano, Addazio, Scott Loeffler etc. is a 3 year resignation to Michigan being dominant and I want people in charge with arrogance and stubborness to get this done because that my friends is how Michigan gets back.

Exactly. Michigan is Jim Harbaugh away from playing with the big boys. The already good recruiting will become great. Harbaugh would make us instant competitors for the big ten IMO. One thing Brady did leave us with is a young, experienced lineup. We have running backs for days and an Oline that got better and should get better still. Praying it is Jim, bc if anyone named Schiano, mora, addazio, or Bert becomes the coach of this great university I will throw up.

This seems like a pretty bold statement for Hackett to make a this juncture. If Michigan ends up with a plan C hire Hackett won't be safe anywhere in the world.

Bold move, Hackett. I hope, for your sake, that you're telling the truth, because if we end up with a Schiano-esque hire, you're going to be run out of town before you can even schedule the coach's intro press conference.

Maybe I am crazy, but I don't necessarily interpret that to mean interest from potential coaches. It could also mean that he has been blown away by the interest of fans and the media during this coaching search. I am sure everyone and their grandpappy are pushing him and his inner circle for any little morsel of insider information.

Adam Schecter just said on MNF that its probably the Raiders for JH, and maybe the Jets will get involved.

He's just throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks. Even if he doesn't come to Michigan, why would he want to take over the dumpster fire Raiders or Jets. Why not just sit out a year for a better opportunity?
