Gymnastics wins Big Ten Championship
In another indication of the rumored existence of Benevolent Michigan Tolerating God, the Michigan Women's gymnastics team won the Big Ten this afternoon. They scored a 196.900 (a pretty damn good score) and edged out Penn State.
It's Michigan's 4th straight title, and 17th in the last 19 years. Dynasty? Dynasty.
GO BLUE!
(also HAIL!)
I think I love you.
--Blame Shock FX for posting the how to.
Needs Pictures or it didn't happen.
More to come.
...of the team singing The Victors is great to see. Congratulations to the team for another dominant season. On to the NCAA Regional Championships!
Team standings were:
Michigan
Penn State
Iowa
Michigan State
Minnesota
Illinois
Ohio State
19th straight appearance in the NCAA Regionals! Also worth noting that the program's 18 Big Ten titles overall are the most for any Big Ten women's program in any sport.
Congrats to the team and good luck in the regionals!
Congrats to the Gymnastics team. GO BLUE! I think perhaps the tide has turned(knocks on wood).
Go Blue.
It was a great meet to watch - very intense. Sarah Curtis finished second in the all around, missing out by only .025 points. My friend Natalie Beilstein won the vault as a freshman, which is pretty sweet!
How did she miss out on being named Big Ten Freshman of the Year? It seemed like she was named Freshman of the Week almost every week.
In any case, she had a great first year.
Musser from Penn State does, and while she had a couple of Freshman of the Week titles, she also had straight-up gymnast of the week. I'm guessing that impressed some coaches.
Agreed Beilstein's had a great season, though.
This is probably true. unfortunately. Once Natalie gets her bars and beam up to snuff I'm sure she'll be getting many more gymnast of week/year/universe awards :)
