Gridiron Kings 7-on-7 with UM Commits
The Gridiron Kings 7-on-7 tourney starts today at ESPN's Wild World of Sports.
Commits Shane Morris and Terry Richardson are members of the midwest squad, which also includes notable recruits Wayne Morgan, Dwayne Stanford and Ron Thompson.
I have not looked at the entire television schedule, but it appears the championship game will be played July 25th on ESPNU. Anybody know if there will be other televised games?
Full rosters can be found there.

It'll be interesting to see how Morris stacks up with Southeast QB Riley Ferguson. Ferguson's the only other 2013 QB we've offered and should also be one of the top QB's in the class.
is the god damn truth. I hope he lights 'em up.
Really tells alot about Morris' ability, as he is one of only two 2013 prospects selected to play in this.
Morris getting on campus like no other. I seriously hope he stays committed.
It's also another opportunity for Shane to recruit Dwayne Stanford.
would not play in these 7-on-7 games. The risk for injury is too great. These guys are going full speed without helmets. What happens if a guys goes up for a ball, falls on his back and slams the back of his head into the ground? God forbid this happens, but we all know, if this continues, something like that will happen. Stop these worthless games now. They serve no real purpose. People are making a lot of money off these kids and they are still in high school. I have even seen 7-on-7s using middle school kids.

Well luckily we don't have any WR commits yet at this point, so if this happens to one of the guys we're interested in, we can just move on to someone else.
People get injured by tripping on sidewalks and falling down stairs, too.
I have mixed feelings about 7-7 tournaments in theory, but in practice this particular event can only build chemistry and cameraderie amongst a few of our recruits, as well as having the potential to build upon their recruiting profiles.
I don't think the physical aspect of 7 on 7's is the problem at all. It seems to be about as physical as playing tag. Granted, tag is a violent sport leading to thousands of deaths which should be stopped, but still...
I'm pretty sure the guys love playing in these games. With this mindset, why stop at no-contact 7 on 7? Why even have Shane Morris play highschool football anymore?
Is there a chance we take two WRs?
