It's a really good thing that you took the time to click on a board post titled "Greg Johnson on MSU recruiting" and then beyond that you took the time to tell everyone your thoughts on the board post you clicked on. Thoughts that you had no interest in the very topic you clicked on and commented on! Very Meta of you.

I was just about to post exactly what JeepinBen did. I always wonder why people on message boards/blogs take the time to actually open a thread to post something like, "I have no interest in that." Obviously you do if you clicked it.

and it pisses me off. Especially with all the NBA threads. I get that some people don't like the NBA. So why do you click on an NBA thread, and tell everyone who is there (ya know, to discuss the NBA) that you hate the NBA! Good for you!

Can't stand those people. Like it matters if you're the first to post. It's not like you get anything if you are. I read this site called comingsoon.net and in the comments area there is almost always some jackass who posts, "FIRST!" in the comments area, as if he or she accomplished something great. That's all they type, "FIRST!"

While meant to be a fluff piece, if you're "in the know," the article is hilarious.  If you're just a passing Sparty fan who doesn't follow this stuff, you'd be like, "uhh, ok," and leave the article alone.

The article is a joke b/c, if its accurate, Sparty is "going national" by offering guys who are (1) committed elsewhere, and/or (2) being chased by the biggest fish.  The names listed in the article are nobodies.  (Until they twist Shane's facemask in three years.)  So the State of State recruiting (see what I did there?) is:  "Well, our recruiting pretty much sucks."

And the bit about Urbanski changing the landscape?  There was NO MENTION of UM cleaning up like 8 of the top 12 recruits in the state, or whatever it is.  That is far more devastating to Sparty than Urbanski.

So I do think the article is a wonderful insight into some Sparty mentality, at least of that one journalist -- "All is well, all is well."  When it's not.

If you're "in the know" or not the article is a pretty basic recuriting article.  There is no mention at all about sparty "Going national" (and I kinda wish that line would die already.  MSU fans aren't making that claim anymore I haven't seen one make it in awhile)    It's simply an article about what's going on and who they are chasing... nothing more

And the reason why there wasn't any mention about UM is because Meyer literally just got a commited recurit from MSU.   There is a direct reason for a reporter to ask that exact question.   Talking about Michigan recuriting when nothing on that front has really changed would be pointless and pretty random.

I was hoping for a MSU Recuriting article that I could actually poke fun at.  All I got was a basic MSU Recuriting article... I am disappoint.

The "sportswriters" from GR Press are completely useless when it comes to anything involving sports.  Greg Johnson, Brian VanOchten, David Mayo.  I see these schmucks around town and they are exactly that, a bunch of idiotic schmucks.

I would be a lot more suspiscious of a writer who tries to convince people that he never tried smoking pot than one who got caught with a few plants around the house.  That gives Mayo the unofficial title of "GR Mlive writer with the most integrity."

I don't read mlive or a2 dot com anymore, but I am assuming that BVO still has a combover that looks like a thrift-store yarmulke.  When someone is that disingenuous about his hair, and thinks the public is so stupid that they don't realize he is bald underneath, it is really difficult to believe anything he writes.

As for Johnson, he is one.

How many factual and grammar errors can you find in this snippet from the article?

Michigan State coaches reportedly were disappointed, but ready in case it happened. They have reportedly stayed in contact with defensive ends Kisima Jagne of Chandler, Ariz., and JaMichael Winston of Mobile, Ala.

Chandler is verbally committed to Colorado, but apparently still open to pitches, and Winston is a Arkansas commit still taking official trips

"reportedly, reportedly, apparently"

The author seems very sure of his statements and really gives the reader confidence in his insights.

Also, the last sentence.... "but" before the "and" in the sentence - that there is some fancy writing he done learned...

This honestly does not worry me. The way I see it, MSU and us have completely different recruiting bases, in a way. We generally seem to get a classier kind of player, and I can't really imagine someone who goes here going there, and vice versa. That's why I think OSU will hurt MSU's recruiting more than we will, because they go for the same kind of kid. In general, anyone who chooses one of those schools over Michigan probably wouldn't have fit in all that well here, anyway.

MSU's got a lot of negatives going for them, but one thing they've done extremely well the last few years is identify RB talent.  The coaching staff should give a second look at any unoffered RB prospects that MSU is targeting.
