Greatest moments as a Michigan fan
I thought it would be cool for everyone to comment on their greatest moments being a Michigan fan. I have several so bear with me.These are in no particular order. First, I remember being about 8 and going to a UM basketball game. My Dad took me down on the turf at the Big House and I scored a touchdown wearing my Anthony Carter jersey and Michigan wristbands. Second, I was on a camping trip for spring break my junior year in highs school and listened to Michigan win the national championship in basketball. Glen Rice was a beast. Third, Desmond's catch in the endzone against Notre Dame. I was in college watching the game in my dorm surrounded by Notre Dame homers. Fourth, the OSU game in 1997. Enough said. The one that is the most personal to me is taking my 3 year old son to the Big House and getting to play catch with him and watching him run the same sidelines that so many of my heroes did. Last but not least, Jimmy coming home. There have been so many things that have stood out to me during a lifetime of being a Michigan fan, but these are some that I remember the most.

Rushing the field as a freshman after 2003 OSU victory.

1. The entire 1997 season. That was my most enjoyable season of watching football. Even the other games (non-Michigan) were good. Favorite moment was THE punt return.
2. Michigan winning the basketball national championship. I've never seen anyone shoot like Glen Rice before or since.
3. Being at the big house the day Biakabatuka destroyed Ohio State.
4. Wide open is Gallon, they left him alone.
Those leap out at me more than anything else.

of the Morgan dunk was something to behold, but I have to say it paled in comparison to the complete shock and awe of Burke's 3 agaisnt Kansas. i don't know if that is the best all around moment I can remember as a Michigan fan all things considered, but I think I can say fairly definitively that it was the most exciting from a "moment in time" perspective.

during the game and Bruno Mars 'Locked out of Heaven' was playing when Jordan rumbled down the court so when I hear that song it takes me back to the ecstasy of the moment.

If I made a list of greatest moments, I would think this would be on it simply for the fact that it was one of the rare instances at the end of a game where I witnessed in person the volume in my section (well, not my section anymore) go from moderate murmuring to insane in an instant. That was a pretty awesome feeling and an awesome end to that game. I do enjoy those moments where it comes down to a play, although obviously moreso when it happens to go your way.

Yes. I will never forget the silence while the ball was in the air followed by the ear drum shattering roar a moment later. You can get a shadow of that feeling by watching the video with the volume turned up.

Manningham TD against Penn State with time expiring, after Carr had fought to get 1 second put back on the clock earlier in the half.
EDIT: God DAMN it, beaten by less than a minute.

I remember walking back to our car chanting "its great to be a Michigan Wolverine" as National Champions after the Rose Bowl.
Number 2 would be Braylonfest. I wanted to leave early in the 4th quarter as I was depressed and freezing (I didnt think I needed a coat). My dad gave me his and said "we're staying, we're going to win." That was truly awesome.

'93 Rose Bowl ('92 season) - had been so heartbroken losing to Washington the previous year (I was 10)
All three of the unbeaten season-ruining wins over OSU in the '90s, but '95 was the best

I have been to many Michigan vs Ohio State games. I sat in the rain when Desmond Howard did the pose. I was at the 97 game when Woodson had a rose clenched in his teeth. Was also at the 100th game when Chris Perry looked like the man all day long. However, one of my favorite games was the 95 game when Biakabutuka shreaded an at that time undefeated Ohio State team that had visions of the perfect season. The Buckeye fans in the crowd were so sure they were going to roll us, and at the end all they could do was quietly shake their heads. It was a good day.

1) Henne to Manningham to beat PSU, saw it live, too much excitement!
1a) Braylonfest....had my MSU buddies with me at the Big House, that was insanse!
2) Both trips out to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl, even though we lost, lots of great memories along the way!

1. UTL I, I will never forget. Senior year, great seats right on the 20, row 3.
2. The one bright spot of my freshman year, the comeback against Wisconsin in 2008.
I worked at Yost while I was a student so I have a lot of hockey moments on my list. These two stand out the most for me:
3. Carl Hagelin's OT goal against Notre Dame in 2011, I believe it was the last home game that year. I remember standing in the NW corner with a few coworkers and Scooter Vaughn's mom (not sure why she wasn't with the parents section). Everyone expected the game to go to a shootout and Hagelin broke the tie. I can still hear the crowd.
4. FYS game at Yost - I was standing in the zamboni corner and couldn't see the play happen after Kampfer's hit. That place was ready to explode (and did in Mr. Kampfer's case).

#3! I remember that, it was amazing. I think this one was even better. Hagelin scores with less than a minute left to force OT, then he scores with less than 3 seconds left in OT for the win, saving senior night.

Now that I think about it, I believe this is the one I was remembering about above. The game against the Irish must have been in the CCHA playoffs that year or a few weeks before this one.
I have to add one more - my last game as a senior at Yost. The players came over to thank us during their victory lap and when that all finished, our entire staff jumped on the ice for the alma mater and sang with the crowd. Once things cleared out a little more, we went out to center ice to take a few pics and kiss the block M. I was one of two senior student workers that was there for all four years and it was a surreal moment, something I will always cherish.

I started school here in 2012, so while there were some great moments prior, I wasn't on campus to experience them, and the best ones like the 97 title I'm too young to remember, so that moment stands out for me. I was in the stands for our 2011 win vs OSU, so that would probably be my 2nd choice.

1) 2011 UTL Michigan-ND, win over OSU, and bowl win in New Orleans (great senior year)
2) 2011 Frozen Four, getting to the championship
3) 2013 Final Four, after all the years watching M bball struggle it was an amazing moment to make the championship
4) 2006 season wins @ND and @PSU were fun, but I've never seen a better pre-game atmosphere than @OSU in the #1 vs. #2 game...

One of mine is definately this game. I was living in Korea and gathered a lot of friends at my house for a Sunday morning game (I think it was 10am Korea time). Friends who had no interest in American football - from Croatia, Australia, UK, NZ, India, etc. By the end of that game, they were dancing around my living room, screaming like they won the World Cup. Several American football fans were born that day.

There are sooooooo many moments I could list. I grew up watching us beat the Buckeyes every year (sigh). I've been to 3 of the 4 overtime wins at the big house which included Braylonfest. I was at the game where Manningham caught the TD on the final play against Penn State. The 98 Rose Bowl goes without saying.
But I don't think I've ever felt as insanely happy as I felt after the wins against Penn State in 1997 (Judgment Day) and Notre Dame in 2006. I was too happy to sleep those nights. I could not stop smiling for days. I was so damn happy, there was nothing that was going to kill my mood.
On a sidenote: Beano Cook, who had a 30 year history of public orgasms for Penn State football, made the famous quote in regards to Judgment Day: "Michigan won't even make it a game. They don't stand a chance. Send the band, have them play the 'Victors' so both sides can go home happy."
Well, Beano. We wanted to send the marching band but PSU said, "no." But our fans still went home happy.

I'm sure I'm not the only person to include the Desmond Howard Heisman pose game at the top of the list. However, what I don't hear too many Michigan fans recall is the fact that after that game, the basketball team scrimmaged at Crisler and it was our first glimpse of the Fab Five. It was like watching a new, more exciting version of basketball than I had ever seen before. My father walked up to Steve Fisher after the scrimmage and told him, "Teach 'em defense, Steve." Fisher replied, "You ain't tellin' me nothin'." That was one hell of a day.

I have three.
1. Desmond Howard's 4th and 2 diving catch in the end zone against ND in 1991 to seal the victory against the golden domers is number 1.
2. A close second is Daydrion Taylor's earth shattering hit on that hapless PSU TE in the 1997 game where UM drubbed them 34-8 on the road. That was UM's single most dominating performance I ever watched.
3. Desmond Howard's punt return TD in the 1991 game against OSU where he struck the Heismann pose. I was at that game, in the student section.

Having only been a fan since 2012, my options are pretty limited and mostly basketball related, but I still have a few.
- Comeback against Kansas in the Sweet Sixteen. Trey Burke's shot was the best moment of my UM fandom to this point.
- The 2013/2014 MBB victories over MSU at Crisler; especially Trey Burke stealing the ball from Appling.
- 2014 Big Ten Tournament semi-final victory vs. Ohio State. While this game wasn't that important in and of itself, I was there, and it was incredible to be in an audience of near equal UM/OSU fans and comptetively cheering against them/then winning.
- UTL II Victory over Notre Dame
- Rushing the field as a freshman after the 2012 MSU victory
