Cue the Devin for QB/Denard for receiver argument.
Mount St. Mary's hired a private equity CEO to be their president. You'll never guess what happened next.
Cue the Devin for QB/Denard for receiver argument.
but just think about the possibilities......!!!
I expect there will alot of tears in AA next week.
The Hawkeyes will also be crying, but they will be closer to those sugary-flavored Spartan tears.
Just make Kirk Ferentz cry, please.
Still undefeated at home. Lets keep it going.
The ovation Denard will recieve may be the loudest Michigan Stadium has ever been, and that's absolutely crazy to think about.
I will get up off the couch and give Denard a standing ovation with a tear in my eye, even with nobody there to see it.
He stood by us when it would have been so easy for him to pull a Silas Redd, and bail on us. He stood by us, so I will always stand by him.
Maybe he can play slot receiver.
Maybe you can play "shitty response guy."
In "shitty response guy"s defense, I think he meant if his elbow wasn't healthy enough to play QB.
No I hope he plays. But I don't know how you can pull Gardner he is playing really well. I think the offense can be a lot more explosive if both are on the field and Gardner would be a bigger dual threat at QB. I love Denard but I think Gardner is a better all around QB.
I actually agree with you in a theoretical "what could have been" way. But that ship has sailed and I gotta neg yuh. This is about Denard love and what a shame it will be if he doesn't get to finish his senior season.
... At least that's the vibe I got.
His arm isn't well enough to grip the football at QB, maybe he can grip the ball at WR
He deserves a big send off in the Big House. I sure want him healthy for Ohio State though. If his elbow is marginal, it will probably be a really tough decision for Hoke and Co.
Last week he had that sleeve on but, this game he had nothing. I think he was marginal this game and the coaches decided to give him another week to get to 100%. The saddest thing about this injury is Denard needs a ton of yards to set the QB rushing record.
Denard was wearing a sleeve today...
Are you sure about the sleeve....saw him go out for the coin toss and I don't remember the sleeve.
Watching Hoke Give Denard a hug will be incredibly bitter-sweet next Saturday. I wouldn't miss it for the world. Hope Denard can play.
In warm ups he had a sleeve while he was throwing, at least from what I remember (I'm pretty confident he did).
yep deffinately no sleeve on his arm today. They showed him 6-7 times on the sidelines with nothing on either arm
Incorrect, he did have the blue sleeve on his arm when he went out for regulation’s coin toss; however for OT he no longer had it on. Unsure thought when he removed it during the game.
I don't think he cares about records. If he does come back and we go on to win the Big Ten title, I bet he'll be perfectly happy and even consider the injury a blessing in disguise for the program - it got his successor some needed experience.
No doubt Denard will start against OSU if healthy, but given Devin's rather impressive play the last two weeks I'd be willing to bet the staff will not hesistate to put him in if Denard is struggling/the offense is stagnant.
There is nothing about this staff that they will do so. It is highly unlikely for Hoke to pull out Denard due to performance reasons. Hoke is not a fan. He doesn't just twist in the wind like many of us around here.
I hope he is at 100%, anything less and I'd play devin easily. So happy we have two great options at QB.
I love Denard, and in going to miss him dearly. He was great today supporting Michigan and was the most excited player on the field when Michigan made big plays.
I bought plane tickets, a ticket to game, and called in multiple favors to get to Demard's last game in person. Did all of this months ago.
I really hope he gets to play on his senior day, but either way I will be cheering my head off when they announce him as a senior.
I'd bet unless Denard loses his arm in some tragedy this week, he atleast starts the game Saturday. If he finishes it or not I don't know but I bet takes the first snap from center.
Agree. I thought of that when I heard that Texas ran their first play out of the wishbone today to honor Daryl Royal.
Forever a Michigan man Shoelace forever through the ups and downs Drob will always be one of my favorites.
Great point. I cannot think of any great player who has not had ups and downs to some extent, but Denard brought some high highs. It was so much fun to finally have a quarterback who could frustrate a defense by making something amazing out of a sure loss--which we had watched other teams do for years.
Where Denard did not seem to have ups and downs was as an ambassador for the program--uniformly great!
for the Iowa game. I am so happy that we'll be there. I'd love to watch Denard one more time.
Yeah. While I am thrilled with how Gardner has played, I definitely would love to see Denard suit up in the Big House once more (and I think we'll need him to beat Ohio). Hopefully he can play and shake the rust off to be at his best for the Bucks.
I hope Denard can go. I hope the fans can see him play at the Big House one more time. But if he can't, I have to say...he's doing a great job as Swag Coordinator.
I would love to see Denard start and lead UM to a big halftime lead and then have Devin play the second half to get more experience. Then have two healthy QBs ready for Ohio.
let me say. i hope denard has a chance to play.. but you also have to think about the offense under gardner is driving and scoring TD.. Roundtree seems to have been reborn with Gardner throwing the ball
I look at it this way, if he ends up not playing next week, I would of witnessed:
my first Michigan game (on my bday)
their 900th win
a last second - game winning field goal
a win, ending the streak against MSU
rushed the field and touched the turf celebrating
AND Denard's last game at home!
Can't say I'd be disappointed if he doesn't play next week.
Gardner's poise is remarkable. He has a great understanding of the game, rushing for pivotal first downs and throwing jump balls when the defense jumps offsides. He is my favorite Michigan player since...well... forever.
We will not be "losing" Denard. He will always be a great ambassador for the program, like Charles and Desmond. A true Michigan Man. I think you'll see him around the program a lot in the future.
According to my dad, who is a sports medicine doctor, an injury to the ulnar nerve require 6 weeks recovery. He still has 3-4 weeks to go until he's game ready. Should be back for the Rose Bowl!
I can tell you that's just not a 100% guarantee. Unless your Dad has evaluated Denard personally, and even then, he can't say for sure when Denard's pain and tingling will subside enough to let him play. If there is enough structural damage then nothing but surgery will work. I'm guessing Denard's injury is more like mine where he could be ok with enough rest for a limited # of reps but should eventually get the surgery to be 100%. As to how much rest or how many reps nobody can say how unique bodies will respond.
Part of me would like him to play next week - I'll be there and it is my last chance to see him play in Michigan Stadium, but at the same time, if they feel he cannot go, then I would rather have a healthy Denard later on for Ohio State or a bowl game and indeed, for the remainder of his days in the sport elsewhere. Denard Robinson will always be, in my mind, the most electrifying and exciting player we've had to date - there has not been anyone like him here, and there may not be again, at least not for a long time. Whether he plays or not next week, he certainly will be discussed as a great Wolverine.
I'll remember Denard as a bright spot in the darkest part of Michigan football ( in my life time) I can't give my honest opinion on Denard. He is a great guy and great interview but was the only playmaker on some less than stellar Michigan teams. I think we have had players who where as big or bigger playmakers than Denard but, the other guys never needed to be the guy 100% of the time.
I wanted to get tickets for next week so bad. Just being there would've been so special to honor Denard and all the seniors for staying loyal to Michigan through some dark years and never giving up and leading the resurgence of Michigan football.
If Denard plays against Iowa, he will get the rushing record odds are.
Denard looked a little rough in warmups, like he just wasn't at 100%. Hopefully another week will have him ready to go.
Is DRob? I only know Shoelace and Denard.
...not sure if serious
Last game in Michigan Stadium, and was hoping he'd break Pat White's record. But when he winced jumping up to side bump DG after the first TD ... well I don't think he is close.
I think that is Denard at the next level.
Percy Harvin, but 100x better.
kinda waiting to see if he's gonna start to buy tickets.
wife and i usually only go once/year, but she brought up wanting to go again for denard's last home game, i'm down.
It looked to me he is still in pain. I really hope he gets well enough to play next week, it's a shame for him not to be able to play his last home game. I would love nothing more for him to go out a winner at home and down south for his last game as a wolverine.. Get well denard!!! GO BLUE!!!!
But his injury seems bad, I'm sure there isn't a timeline for something like tis. It could be next week or he could be done. The way he was throwing pregame, it didn't appear he is close to playing.
But do you play one on tv?
I'm not a doctor, but I'll take a look...
This season has certainly flown by, it's crazy to think we've got only one more game at the Big House with him wearing a winged helmet. Thanks Denard for being a humble superstar.
If Denard can't throw against Ohio, I wonder if the coaches consider putting him in the backfield/slot? He could hold the ball with his left arm and preview his NFL career. Thoughts?
Having followed the team since the late sixties, Denard has brought more excitement than any player I recall. He's also my favorite. No one else comes very close in either regard.
It will be tough to see him go.
Denard is up there as well, but those guys were really special to behold in their day.
