Mickey hit it on the head, these boards have no give. A chip and chase game will benefit both teams because the pucks hit the boards and don't bounce like the players are used too.

It is interesting that it is above freezing outside in Detroit. How do they make sure the ice does not start melting?

Today is almost ideal temperature. I've heard anywhere from 30-40 degrees is the window for good ice.  You don't want it too cold (very possible for Winter Classic) where the ice gets brittle and breaks up. Likewise, if it gets over 40 degrees you start to see the ice get soft.

I do believe there is chiling capabilities under the ice at both Comerica and Michigan Stadium in the case of warm temperatures.

By all accounts the ice at Comerica is god awful. I hate how these outdoor games have now become commonplace. It's lost it's luster.

not perfect, but plenty good to play on.  and i'll take cold weather ice over warmish 35 degree plus ice every time.   my first few years of hockey were outside.  a number of my teammates at michigan had played outside too.  its a lot of fun and both teams have to play on the same surface, so it's not like one group gets an advantage.

Let's get a kickstarter going. We'll film our own commercial and put it on FSD just so we don't have to watch the Zac Brown Band every single commercial break

Start time has been pushed back to around 8pm due to the crappy ice quality. They're repairing it right now.

This was a terrible idea. The GLI should be inside.
