Great effort by the kids on D today.

I just wanted to start a thread to give it up for the guys who played defense today.  It wasn't their best game but they played their butts off and gave all they had for the university we love.  They could've given up 50 points today but they gave up 35, and that was good enough to win.  I'm just tired of hearing about these young kids who give all they have to entertain us and I come on here and see nothing but how awful they played.

The second half performance all year has been way better than all of last year.  Conditioning was impressive.  It was like playing a game and half.  They are not falling apart in the second half like last year and that will show up in the overall record.  Glad to see GERG rotated defensive linemen in the 4Q.

I'm celebrating a little more every weekend.  Countdown to my road trip to Ann Arbor for Sparty has begun.

You hit the key word: effort.  They were on the field for 41 minutes and played with real heart.  The DBs are young and/or not talented -- but they played their hearts out.  The rush-three drop-eight approach actually seemed to do well.  If the offense hadn't sputtered (on a relative basis, perhaps due to Denard's sore knee), we would have won by 3+ touchdowns and no one would be complaining.

The D played with heart,  pride and confidence.  They made some adjustments in the second half and came out with a win.  Seems to me that GERG is doing a respectable job with these kids.

And when you think about it the defense was on the field a hell of a lot today. Our offense didn't do anything to help them in the second half with several three and outs.

Either way, we won and I'm happy for that fact. On to State.
